  • After ten months of renovation, the Piccadilly Circus lights are back and brighter than ever before. The new state-of-the-art screen is interactive and fully responsive. The previous six screens have been replaced with Europe's largest single display, measuring about 780 sq m in size. In 1908, Perrier was the first brand to be illuminated. Since then the billboard has been continuously improved and this latest renovation in the most comprehensive yet.

    I have a few criticisms. At night, the screen is ridiculously bright. I drive buses through sometimes and it just dazzles me. They ought to implement night mode as well (less blue light).
    Secondly, I've noticed that the frame rate of the video is very low. Like a gif or something.

    I think that the screen could be used to televise something interesting or important on occasion.
    Perhaps in the future though, the advertisements currently shown on the screen, will be enhanced in 3D - much like in the back to the future films.

  • @EVILBUNNY28
    @EVILBUNNY28 5 років тому

    The new screen is great and all... but the old ones had a certain “charm” about them. They were quite clearly separate LED billboards which formed around the building far better and added depth and structure to the facade as opposed to one smooth wall. Lest to be said, I prefer the neon sign before the old ones. They were less “Dazzling” and the Sanyo logo just screamed London to me every time I saw it

      Cityguysims like the video states, there been advertising on these buildings since the turn of the last century. Like it or not it's become a landmark which attracts tourists. I personally love the early 1900s signs, but that's me, I love old stuff. I don't think it detracts from the style of the surrounding buildings, London is comprised of old and new buildings side by side. You only have to walk a few 100 yards from Picadilly and find streets of beautiful architecture 😊
