Ollies bags are fun! I mostly get 90s nostalgia out of them. There are generally 1 or two I want to hold onto and the rest I give away to nieces and nephews or put in the little Lending Libraries in my neighborhood.
I was going to say that this is the 2040 equivalent of the quarter boxes at the local store, aren't they?
Good stuff there. I hope they like those gifts. I was so unimpressed with this batch that I passed on going to Ollie's when I visited my hometown recently. Maybe November, I might check back to see if I notice any difference.
Betty and Veronika #1 cover by Adam Hughes has got to be the best.
One of my LCS's had those at their shop signed by Adam Hughes that I almost picked up, but the conditions were ot great.
I bought a few of these packs and most of the books were worthless - just like what he showed. However I did get a fun surprise that was a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders meet Spider-man and the Hulk comic from the 1980's. It was a Dallas department store giveaway book. Not valuable but the nostalgia factor made it cool.
I actually bought a pack on one of my earlier Ollie's episodes where I got that Spider-man Dallas cowboy cheerleaders book. If a 9.8, it would do pretty good, but that's the best case scenario.
When I was a kid in the early 1960s I bought bagged comics in either three-packs or five-packs (depending on distributor) for a dime. However the covers were torn off, which pretty much killed the fun.
I had a Ben Franken that used to have the old comics with the trade dress removed. I didn't know why for many years.
I never had much luck with Ollie's packs. The fun is in the hunt!
@toygarland8309 that's true. At this point it really is just for fun. I'd be shocked if I truly found anything of note.
If you dont want them, the kids you’re giving them to at Halloween wont want them either. Remember we’re trying to foster new readers!

Your Barbarienne issue is from Nov. 1988 - final issue. Harrier was a U.K. publisher. Anyway, I think the GCD needs a cover scan of the No One's Rose issue you've acquired.
Firefly are hard to find in comic shops as a Brown Jacket fan.
Am I correct that when they aired Firefly they got the episodes out of order? I seem to recall that.

Great video. Fun stuff. Airboy. I loved that eclipse series. I had whole run. Then sold it. Then had to get it again. I don’t collect runs but I have that one. That John’s hex run has a lot of great stories and art. Jess
I'll have to check if I have the entire Airboy run. I'll bet it's pretty close to being a full run. Those 1st issues were so thin as a comic, but then #1 was only $.25 cents.
I haven't bought any from Ollie's I use to buy them in drug stores 3 for a lot less than 1 costs now. I'd get at least 1 good one worst thing in the middle would be an Archie . I hate Archie.
I've been to other Ollie's and have found completely different types of packs. I may explore testing different different locations and do a show on that.
Your lucky there are no Ollies Stores in New York.
We've got them all over here in MD, too. It's actually been a while since I checked the Ollie's up here. I've found in the past that there are very few comics in the Ollie's around here.

thats a great looking B&W Ultimate Power
I picked that pack because of that sketch cover. I enjoyed UFF from the start but really enjoyed more when Greg Land handled the art, especially the intro of Marvel Zombies and namor stories.
Sneaking a peak inside? At my ollies all of these packs have been ripped open and gone through and its been that way for years. I honestly don't know how they get away with it either.
The 1st 2 packs I opened are loose fitting. You can shirt just enough to get an idea of what's in the middle without ripping them open. I would never open them before buying. I hate when I find packs like that.
As someone who worked at Ollie's for 6 months who unloaded the trucks every week I can say from the time I worked there they never got any off the truck but were on the shelves before I started working there. Bad thing is they would get opener and stolen a lot the only time we ever got any kind of comic book related stuff in was about 2 weeks before The Batman came out and got tons of trades
I hate it when I find open packs. Those packs that have a loose bag, you can cheat a little if you can recognize the art on the Edge. Those packs were a little better, but the tight-fitting packs are just pure chance. Thanks for sharing your story with me.
@@CollectorAuctions I've actually gotten lucky with the packs at Walmart more I think they started in 2016 with random books from the 80s and 90s and got lucky with some first appearances but the last ones I've bought from there I was somehow able to get a 1 and 500 variant worth a lot which was nice. But when it comes to ollies when they were opened up I was trying to talk with the manager about since we couldn't sell them and would just get tossed out to just donate them to the local children's hospital but they never did
@spencer2745 I also picked up those Walmart packs and did also luck into a few good ratio variants. Good stuff.
