phrases, clarity, virtuosity, overall vision.I almost cried of jealousy, but finally the music provoked it.

Really wonderful rendition. Great voicing and I like the fact that he doesn't take it too fast. The piano seems a little bright for me.

For those of you who wonder what piano he's playing in, you can clearly see that it's a Baldwin at 2:34

No this is not a Steinway, but could indeed be a Baldwin - though I can't tell if it has their trademark Acu-Just hitch pins.
Bolet's playing is fantastic, fully musical, in control and offering electrifying tempos!

@lamorlayefrance Bolet was a Baldwin artist, and if you look closely @.27 - 30 you can clearly see the baldwin label

How Horowitz said it? Music is constrained emotion?

May I ask about this studio recording from the same time? Which label was it made for? Has it ever been released on LP or CD? I've never heard anything about it...

no, I don't think so. I was thinking the same thing. But why include it? I'm sure that's not something he would want people to remember about him.

What kind of Piano is that? I thought it was a Steinway, but I didn't see the symbol.. it's too fuzzy.

Richter's recording of this is pretty awful...

  • @orcamocha

Technically it's ok but rhythmically and harmonically it's VERY VERY misleading!!! Mendelssohn was quite a genius in tricking us all...
