For all of the casual fans out there, the singer of all of the songs that are labed "Xero Demo" is Mark Wakefield, who was the original singer of Linkin Park from 1996-1998, this is before Chester became the singer of Linkin Park in 1999.

It's REALLY cool to finally have a decent quality version of this song be released officially, even though the live version is vastly superior. Still great to have this!
Just for those that don´t know. Xero songs are with Mark Wakefield, Chester arrived a time after (when they become Linkin Park)
He came and they turned into Hybrid Theory first.
Yup hybrid theory first (they change the name because there are already picked by another band)
And then they change thier name again to lincoln park

It's fairly understandable, don't worry.
As for the website, the problem was that the domain name "Lincoln Park" was too expensive for them, so they changed the name to "Linkin Park" to buy an affordable site.

Believe it or not Chester called himself "Chester the molester" like as in microphone molester wayyy back.. The name actually came from a comic book. Look it up.
@@Titanic19127 no, he was tormented in school by bullies calling him "Chester the Molester" and then for a BRIEF period after he got famous, tried to prove to his childhood bullies back home that he had a thick skin by wearing a shirt that said "Chester the Molester" on tour.
that didn't end up lasting very long because he felt genuinely uncomfortable about it, seeing as how he was molested for six years straight growing up and knows how awful the experience is, he didn't want to make light of it so the "Chester the Molester" shirt went away pretty much as soon as it appeared.
I still have dreams of hearing Chester's voice on a studio recorded version of this song in this quality

Somehow I feel like this new song, Heavy Is The Crown, was heavily inspired by this demo.
The rap part and also sounds like "part of me" …
I'm actually super digging this. You can hear the framework for LP in the track, but it's also got it's own feel. It's a little more raw, a little less radio-friendly. It's kind of a shame that Xero wasn't it's own side project. Like something they could've done occasionally, in between LP releases with Mark .
That chorus is just fantastic
Hands down my favorite song by them. this was a banger during their '06 Japan tour

@Mark Soffer Personally I think Mark is really talented... I mean Chester is just too next level for just about anyone to compare, but Mark definitely sounds great especially considering this is a demo and their recording equipment at the time probably wasn't too good.

Maybe Mark can rejoin Linkin Park since Chester's passing. I think he is one of the few who can do justice to the position.
He doesn't want to. And has stage fright.
He left the band because singing on stage made him really anxious, so I don't think that's a good idea.

They were showcasing for record executives once again and on their last showcase I guess Mark was very off key and most of the executives left before the show was over. Following this, Jeff told the band that he hates to be the bad guy but if they ever want to get signed then Mark has got to go and they needed a new vocalist. This is from the book Jeff Blue wrote and published around the time of HT's 20th anniversary
@@isaiahmarker407 yes, I heard that version- but the band members told a different version in multiple interviews, and they said many times over the years that Jeff Blue tried to get more credit than he deserves for their success, and that he lied about things he did with them- so I don't consider him a reliable source.
If the band members say one thing, and someone who's not in the band and has been known to either lie or twist the truth to seem important tells another (and his version just so happens to put him in the center and make him seem important, which is exactly what they said about him)- then I'll go with the band.

Isso me impressionou da primeira vez que vi, nunca imaginei ele tocando algo do Xero.

The G.O.A.T Originally this song was leaked a couple of years ago and this song is the same one from the Xero Cassette that was leaked years ago but with better audio

@Sergio I don't think it's just that, but also the fact that the tape was recorded in Mike's bedroom is why they couldn't do much to improve the quality
i think also more than likely the original xero demo was made on a 4 track cassette recorder...back in the day this was how bands made their demos and it was a great tool but it was kinda limited so the simpler the music, the better it worked
but in the case of lp or xero, since what they were doing was alot more elaborate, using samples, turntables, effects etc they needed more tracks and you can only record 4 with this machine, so you had to make a master tape with the first 4 tracks(ex. bass, guitar 1, guitar 2 and drums), then play that tape from another device back into one of the inputs of the recorder (this usally came with a sort of downgrade in the quality) and that would give you 3 extra inputs to record on (ex. vocals, samples, turntables) and you would repeat until you have the number of tracks you need
kinda makes me thankful for todays multi-tracking softwares but this kind of dynamic really makes you appreciate bands and the effort they put in the making of their music even in their earliest times

Mark Wakefield is a good singer with a lot of potential. I'm wondering why he left? And if they'd have achieved the same success with him as they did with Chester Bennington?
In my opinion, Chester was still a better fit for the band. With his incredible voice, he was able to adapt to various music styles.
Everyone in the band knew that Mark Wakefield was not a good singer, Mark himself knew it. Mike talked about that and said that Mark was not comfortable singing on a stage, it wasn't his thing. He left because it didn't want to be a singer anymore. He later became a successful manager in the music industry.
From my understanding, he left the band due to internal frustrations and the their lack of ability to get signed to a label. On top of that, a friend of theirs in the industry supposedly told them that Mark was holding them back from greater success. So I'm sure that sentiment didn't sit well with anyone. He went onto work behind the scenes in the music industry. That seems to be where he fit best. Chester was definitely the better fit in the long run, but Mark's contribution shouldn't be ignored. He was part of laying the groundwork for what LP would become, and wrote a number of the tracks of Hybrid Theory. He was definitely a talented artist in his own right.

@Wolfz Ground Xero is not a song made by Xero/Linkin Park, it was a song that Mark Wakefield made on his own after he left Linkin Park in 1998-1999.
