- E502: 2 years ago in 2022 I fell in love with a car. So I ordered it. 8 months later, the wrong car showed up. 8 more months the wrong model showed up (ioniq6) then finally 6 months after that (22 months later) NOV 2023 it was found in a show room 40 miles from me. After 21 years of driving the old Truck with 236K miles on it I traded that in. So, here it is. This is my review of my 2024 Ioniq 5 SEL extended range in shooting star metallic.
You will not regret it! Been driving All EV's for +8 years now!
Got the biggest kick out of this, Chris. I’ve been away from the Amiga scene for a while and had forgotten that I subscribed to your channel. Hoping to buy the same car as yours before the end of the year, so I’ve been obsessively watching any UA-cam videos I can find on the subject. Then we get to the point where you are concealing your license plate with the Commodore logo, and I’m thinking, that’s a weird coincidence. Then I remembered PiMiga is you! congrats on the car.
Dr.Chris this is our next vehicle, or the Kona electric. Tired of putting gas in a car we drive less that 5000 miles a year and changing oil because of age not mileage. Great review and thank you for the video Have a good night!

I have the same vehicle😁 and it gets around others in traffic areas very very well because it’s so quick.
But I am I mainly drive in normal mode but very seldom would I drive in sport.
When I say that car punch it flys which is why I can easily get around cars on highways with no problem😁😁😁😁
But I use a radar detector which helps keeps me out of trouble👍🏽👍🏽
Welcome to the EV drivers Chris. Have had a Kia E Niro 4+ for 3 years and now a Tesla Model 3. I have home charging and it is ultra cheap for me as I only charge overnight on the cheap rate. I liked the look of the Ioniq 5 but in the Uk wanted a smaller car due to parking spaces being only just the size of the Ioniq!
Never expected to see this on your channel, but it can fit a lot of Amigas in it and could power them as well!
Long trips are easy as I stop to charge after 2 to 3 hours of driving when the car is down to hopefully now under 100 miles range. Just enough time for you to use rest rooms and grab a coffee whilst your car charges to 80%.
For info, the extra charge time on rapid chargers to go from 80% to 100% is about the same time as 10% to 80%. So long trips leave home with 100% then recharge at stops to 80% each time. Will be far quicker trip time!

Nice overview, thanks Chris. After some unexpected car issues last year, I decided to get rid of the dinosaur burning POS and I picked up a second hand Kona EV from 2019. I absolutely love it. Have been considering. When we do eventually upgrade I'd consider going with the IONIQ5 for the more cabin space aspect. That pain job was lovely too. One of the nicer looking ones.

I want to like them, but man even here in California the several I've rented have just been a disaster in being compatible or working at the charge stations out here. This is California even and I couldnt imagine having to take long trips out of the state with one. The other issue that keeps me away is the insurance. I have seen personally, not just 2nd hand and reading where they are to scared to get them repaired and total them out for what looks like minor damage from even slow speed collisions. That battery is a massive liability for them and not many will risk it. Hyundai charges over 20k for that battery alone and it will cause them to total it if they are told it needs replacement. I however will not deny its a sweet looking car and a blast to drive.

Congrats on the Ioniq 5! I have a ’22 Premium. Interesting to see the regional/model year/trim differences. For example, yours has a completely flat space under the trunk bottom while mine has a hump in the middle, separating the space in two. Also, didn’t realize the glovebox has already been changed from a drawer to lid in the ’24.

One positive thing about this coal powered car, its got the most perfect paint color. One negative thing, it has lithium based battery. Whenever the GMG battery comes around we should re-investigate.

@@HoldandModify oh the guys and I have been talking around the super chargers about doing just that.. if/when Tesla puts the Android emulation on our screens I'm installing Amiga emulation on top of it!
I wonder that as the years pass if, someone just like you, will be changing out chips, caps, and roms etc and have a dedicated channel for fixing obsolete ev's?

Nice one Dr Chris. Own a EV also. Have the MG 4 XPower @ 430BHP with 600nm Torque. A lot of Chinese EV’s are sold here in the U.K as well as Kia and Hyundai. 👍🏻

Not an EV owner. If you set the GPS/navigation will it tell you if you have enough battery to get there and/or will it if it thinks you will run out of battery before you get to a location?..... stuck in traffic, that sort thing.
Yes it tells me where dc fast chargers are and stuff. I also get 3 yrs on electrify America

Hyundai has come a long way since the Pony. All the research I've done on EVs has the Iconic 5 as one of the top cars to buy. You can now be the Test Dummy for the Iconic 5 and let us know how you like it over time. 😀 Take care.

Do you know how long it’s gonna take everybody to switch over to that Hyundai is giving everyone free adapters and I can’t stand Teslas. They were cool at first with the first model S and the dual motor now every stupid Subaru owner has switched to the Tesla.
