    I fucking love Blind-Boy, he's such a good, healthy energy to the Irish people. He's smart, he's positive and has such great infectious empathy.
    He honestly makes me want to be a better man, and i try and treat other with love and kindness , because fuck the bad vibe shit. Its a tough world, lets help each other out.
    Great guy

    • @Humanshieldchorus00
      @Humanshieldchorus00 7 років тому +9

      Yeah I see how some people could think that and to be honest nothing annoys more than that kind of posturing to seem smart but I genuinely think , from seeing him in interviews, RTE, radio etc etc that he has real actual smarts and has a highly tuned metaphysical understanding and emotional intelligence.
      Russell has more of pseudo intellectual vide to me, big words for the sake of it, going down rabbit holes of nonsense just so he can use words like ‘paradigm shifting’’ and ‘zeitgeist’ Having said that I believe his heart is in the right place.
      The worst pseudo intellectuals to me are people like Joey Barton, James Franco, Sean Penn, Lady Gaga

    It's actually a myth that in the 13th century people thought the world was flat. Sailors have always known that the world is round since they go out past the horizon, and educated people in Europe knew the world was round because of the Greek philosophers. I don't know where this myth came from. Maybe to cover for Columbus' complete failure at his stated goal of finding a sea route to Asia.

    • @strewf
      @strewf 8 років тому +1

      How did they know they were going past the horizon?

    • @88MaGiiCzZ88
      @88MaGiiCzZ88 8 років тому

      As much as you want to believe that mate it's a lie because you can't see the horizon. In fact you can't see the curvature of the earth because the earth is so flat that you can see so far with HD cameras and telescopes across the ocean where the horizon would be. In truth your statement doesn't make sense because as you look at the horizon it's a illusion.

    its not just that its cheaper for a government to use meds rather than psychotherapy to address mental health issues, big pharma makes way more profits this way and they (as a global corporate lobbying structure) tend to exert a lot of influence over how most civilized democratic systems health policies are developed and implemented.

    They didn't actually kill their friend in the Slenderman case. One held her down while the other stabbed her 19 times, BUT, the victim of the violence was able to crawl to a road where a biker found her and was able to call 911. She survived the attack, remarkably.

    If someone is standing beside you (and there's no one else around) and their body language is saying "I don't know you" and they look like a scared rabbit in the headlights - for no apparent reason - then that doesn't constitute a good opportunity to approach them.
    That constitutes a good opportunity to walk away thinking "what's that about?"
    An interesting thing about Victor Frankel is that he categorised people into two types - good and bad. The good ones have altruism and care for others; the bad ones are totally selfish. He saw examples of both categories in concentration camp guards and in concentration camp prisoners.
    I'm not saying he's right there, but it's an interesting suggestion.

    NO ONE EVER THOUGHT THE WORLD WAS FLAT. this is a myth that we historian can trace back to a 19th century writer who projected backwards through time to explain why no one in Europe traveled across the ocean (real reasons include: most people who cared thought that the world was only slightly smaller than it really is and that the only land masses were Europe, Africa and Asia therefore the supplies needed were too great; there was no [economic]reason to atempt such a dangerous journey before Europians got tired of inflated prices from the Silk Road; and many more).

    i gotta feel, like a lot of people, it's slightly off putting when someone covers there face with a mask. it's unsettling. i understand it's a hangup or a short coming.. but i still felt it. by trusting in Russell's judgement, i decided to give these three episodes a fresh chance; free of prejudgement. and, jeepers, am i glad i did. This guy BLINDBOY is an articulate, sensitive, beautiful human. as always, i find Russell's THE TREWS to be informative and entertaining (not always in that particular order), but the last three episodes have been stellar. TOP END, as it were.
    if yer stuck in traffic, just pop it on yer phone.. it's 7 minutes (though i recommend going back two episodes and viewing those as well).. set the phone in the passenger seat, or plugged up to yer car stereo (if you have the means).
    ~
    Russell has one of the best out looks on existence i've ever come across in a human. I don't agree with everything he says.. how could i.. he's not ME.. but i feel he is genuine in his pursuit to unify all living beings as one family of life on this one planet.. a goal i, too, am engaged in (not nearly to the level he has achieved, but in my own small way).
    Thank you, Russell. Thank you, BLINDBOY!
    i'd say it's about time we have people who think like the two of you.. but what is TIME?!

    The concept of 'time' has been superseded for approx 100 yrs - 'Space-Time' is the theoretical construct under consideration.
    It is true that human intuition (i.e. historically flat Earth) is not the correct 'tool' to further understanding, but then again, the Scientific Method does not suffer from such a shortfall.

    I don't think the young girl was killed who was attacked by the two, 12 year old girls.
    I agree it's a mental health issue though. Sadly, I don't think they'll get the help they need.

    Are you not forgetting that time is a measurement of the suns rotations around the earth? Given that that is a consistent occurrence and we have atomic clocks now to accurately read that equation for the passage of time as it goes, seems an odd endeavour to pose time as an illusion. Surely time is a physical thing not a meta-physical product of man? It's an interesting concept, as time as a word or a theory or a measurement could not have been spoken of or written about without cognitive thought, but the two are not mutually exclusive. As a species we're pretty fucking good at ignoring that fact. The 'I haven't conceived of or imagined it yet, so it's unequivocally impossible' paradigm. Either way, enjoying the trews!

    Russel just doesn't know the meaning of "personal space".
    I mean, how can you even when his head is in your face like that?
    It's like:
    _"why is he so close, should I move back, is he going to try to kiss me?"_
    And then...
    _"If I lean back will it seem weird, or am I already leaning back?"_
    _"should I lean forward more, so it doesn't seem like I'm leaning back?"_
    Then you realise he's asked you something and you have no idea what it was..

    Yo! Russell and Blindboy,
    Russell. On Ponderland there was a clip regarding childrens television. Remember the scary slender man in the MAC and HAT !?!?!? The clip was just old enough to have seeded the idea of Slenderman in the subconscious of millions of children who would now be adults. I believe this to be the true origin of the Slenderman legend. A strange slender man in a mac and hat....ugh!

    Russel and Blindboy ye are two of my favourite men, great episode. But, I would be careful of suggesting better ‘mental health’ as an answer to the slenderman killings because it suggests a false dichotomy between the mentally ill and the mentally healthy. In this dichotomy the mentally healthy do nice things like calling up their parents to say hello and the mentally ill do murders and the like. While it is important to value everyone’s wellbeing, the concept of mental illness is as illusory as time, that is, the distinction between the mentally well and unwell is arbitrary and unscientific.

    An interesting discussion, but it's very unnerving how closely Russell feels the need to be to the faces of others when he talks with them! If people get that ridiculously close to my face I would certainly ask them to respect my personal space! 😒😬😵

    The only reason for time as a concept is for commercial reasons for the ease of business. It doesn't help or enrich our lives. Fuck it off I say! (Sorry for swearing I do it a lot. I enjoy it. It enriches my life!)

    It's interesting discussing mental health issues bc. both of my parents are psychologists! Even with money and help, a mentally ill person in the USA is subject to a trial and error drug method that could take years to re-establish them as a functioning individual. Moreover, they're still subject to the drug's negative side effects. Moreover, most "mentally ill" individuals are "sensitives" in the sense that they have open psychic abilities which our society squashes instead of nurtures. That's an issue that needs addressing! P.S. you two are sweet!

    Dear Russell,
    I'm writing songs to try and help the revolution as I want to help make a difference. My songs are called 'It's Time for a Revolution' , 'Politicians Lie and People Die' and a rewritten version of Pete Seeger's 'What did you Learn in School Today?' with some different verses that are more current, although not surprisingly the original issues are still a problem decades later.Can I send them to you. if so how to do that so direct to you.
    Bring on the revolution!

    I think mental health is sorted out at all. I personally have struggled with depression throughout my life and the pills the government gave me didn't help whatsoever. What has helped me is when I was eventually given CBT.
