Seskater Sadly, not really the point. It’s really more about the system, and thus the people that make it and abuse it. Like the above comment’s example, they were controlling who went in for dumb reasons. Using the story’s example, cops don’t really get charges that match the crime. Good cops do exist, but bad ones do too. And the bad ones leave more of an impact because they don’t get lasting consequences. Like I said, it’s the system itself, not necessarily the people in it.

In America dealing with a corrupt cop is really hard because other corrupt cops have infiltrated police unions and high positions of power. They protect each other from consequences because they don't want to draw attention to their own wrong doings. If you try to take one to court they will lie for each other without hesitation, and corrupt judges will make unjust rulings to maintain the status quo. Furthermore there a lot of corrupt politicians who manipulate the budgets of police departments and will help promote corrupt officers who "play ball".
It doesn't help that a lot of ignorant citizens are willing to overlook an officer's crimes so long as it doesn't directly affect them.

My neighbour was literally murdered by a corrupted cop who was ordered to kill her by a prolific biker gang because she allegedly owed them money. He went alone and cops here have not body cam. He beat her up, bruised her face beyond recognition, broke her leg and shot her twice in the chest and three times in the back.
The medias only say that he was doing a "wellness check" on her because she was receiving threatening messages (probably from the gang) and that she had a knife and charged at him so he shot her. Everything else is only known by a handful of people. He acted as a hitman and went there with the purpose to end her life. She had a 6 yr old daughter who's now an orphan and staying with her grandmother.
Wanna know what he got? *3 weeks of PAID leave* during the "investigation" by an independant watchdog. He's still a cop. Corruption is rooted deep into every system and government. Don't trust anyone.

Cops generally do try to have a good relationship with the EMTs, but if this guy was scared that his abuse was about to be revealed he wouldn't care. Additionally, EMTs are really good at setting aside their personal feelings when it comes to doing their jobs. It is like they flip a switch. The reason we hear about it when EMTs refuse to treat someone for "personal reasons" is because it is very rare for them.

Rslash, ride nerd here. The ride described is most likely a Larson Giant Loop. Typical Ring-Of-Fire carnival rides. They operate via joy stick by the operator as mentioned and rock back and forth. They can also be held upside-down for a long time if you move them right. The restraints are also notoriously uncomfortable.
Those boat rides you mentioned are permanent rides, but are computer controlled, no operator control and can't really be held upside-down.

A friend of mine was a combat medic in the army with 3 Purple Hearts and a medal of valor. Back home he became a paramedic. He then became a deputy sheriff and a tactical medic. He frequently gets borrowed by certain federal agencies when a large operation is planned. They all know he will run out under fire and retrieve a fallen officer and then give proper medical attention when regular paramedics have to stage blocks away. He actually ran 5 blocks carrying a wounded officer once.

Sunglasses, phones, keys, all flying out of people's pockets because they didn't...realize...the ride went completely...upside down. LOL. This happened so much that they actually had a private area for people to wait for their things. After every 5 or 6 turns, they would stop the ride for 20 minutes while another crew combed the area to gather all the loose shit. I loved that people were blaming the ride and operators for their own stupidity.
