Every cop can and will make any situation worse! It is in their DNA and their training. They have no idea how to investigate nor do they want to. Just exert authority! I don’t understand why cop school hasn’t been extended for at least a couple more weeks to focus solely on The Bill of Rights and common misconceptions like what constitutes free speech vs disorderly conduct and right to film anything seen in public from public spaces and right to film cops in the course of their duty per the Supreme Court. The cost of extending school would be, presumably, FAR LESS than the cost of continually losing civil rights lawsuits.

I don't know where they feel like they get the authority to dictate someone's actions when they aren't breaking the law. And even if they are, it still doesn't give them the authority to be disrespectful to citizens, breaking the laws or not. The judgement should be left for the judge, not arresting officers.

It’s impossible to respect police officers when they can’t respect the people that they work for, if they would do there job as professionals then I think they would have a much better experience with the public but they have to learn how to earn that respect and as we can see most police officers don’t know that

So, my response to such stupidity by a cop is to ask him where I am able to touch anyone, if you can’t touch, then you can’t physically interact or physically interfere.
They usually can’t debate beyond such a point, because ultimately they know they will lose such a debate legally in a court of law.

What your saying is a noble and brave sentiment. But what will you do if you see a fellow cop breaking the law and seriously violating someone's rights? You have to chose which side you're on and if you're on the side of decency and truth you won't last long on the job, sad to say. The other cops will have it out for you. I"m not saying don't do it, but it will be hard to
1 not be corrupted because the system is designed to corrupt well intentioned people who become police
2 make effect change since you might be one good apple in a barrel of bad.
You know what I really really really wish for with well intentioned people like you, is that before they become a cop they contact some journalists and tell them they want to be a cop to uncover wrong doing by police and then work together to document everything perhaps with hidden camera and when you get enough go public. Then you'll have to go to internal affairs but you can have a good career there.
Sorry for the long reply but I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this. Cheers.
