    I attended panditji's concert @behala classical festival in 2017 ..he sang the same raga and mesmerized the whole audience.

    In this performance, he excels most of his illustirous predecessors as well as all of his contemporaries. This could go in the eternal archives of Hindustani classical, if the Lower swaras were not masked by over-enthusiastic harmonium .This is a glaring example how an insensitive companion can destroy a superlative performance.

    जितनी भी बार सुनो तबियत नही भरती। शब्दों में पण्डित जी के गायन की तारीफ़ करना सम्भव नही है केवल महसूस किया जा सकता है।

    Excellent performance. After listening to maestro music now I started to like Hindustani and I become his ardent fan. Why he's not popular? So......... Talented

      The sad reality is that having talent and to be popular is not at all related. Those who can advertise their talent , publish it in social networking sites and make their own hoardings etc. ,gets noticed more. Pandit ji keeps a low profile and concentrates only on his art and perfects it. That can be heard by his performances.

    पण्डित जी ने राग को मुजस्सम खड़ा कर दिया है राग जितना मधुर है उससे कहीं ज़्यादा मधुर तरह से उसकी प्रस्तुती की है

    Excellent rendition. I am one of the admirers of Panditji. Clean voice, clean sargams Akar taans. Unfortunately he hasn't gained the amount of popularity he deserves.

      This is an oft-quoted false lamentation about him. There is no IPL championship in the field of Hindustani classical. Myself is a bengali and hearing him for last 10 years. Listeners are fully aware of his talent and he frequently overwhelms this part of the country with his craft.

    Absolutely one of the best Maru Bihag I heard in long time after Late Bhimsen Joshi. S. Saha's tabla accompaniment is good as usual. Harmonium is ok. Would love to hear this in live some day.

      Much smoother than Late BJ, only the harmonium....it was a persona non grata in this concert.

      Gururaja sir, respectfully, I find your comment a bit overboard sir... That person you are referring to, is his high class disciple, a very good vocalist himself (has to be when you are learning from Pandit ji)... He has a duty on the stage to put tanpura, also sing in support, and each concert like this is a ton of lessons to grasp from the maestro... the amount of joy you find in hearing, understanding and grasping the beauty and spontaneity of the maestros on stage is not describable - that explains some of the head spinning acrobatics you may be seeing ... Now coming to the point... it is hard to sit that long on stage with the tanpura with one cross leg like that which is one tradition (dont have to follow it, I know) ... Musicians - vocalists and instrumentalists can sit on stage for 3 to 4 hrs and get up on their own - they move a bit now and then to keep their legs from going pins and needles. If you are plaing an instrument - like tabla, violin or tanpura or whatever, it is even more hard as both hands are occupied...
      So, I URGE you to try sitting, 3hrs at one spot, with both hands doing something important and then type your feelings.
      That apart, each one has his own mannerisms while singing - The point is to hear the music and make the best of what else you can see there. It is much better that we have a video. THANK YOU.

      That 'horrible acrobat' is quite an accomplished vocalist himself. Kolkunda Ramesh - Panditji's senior disciple and a reputable singer.

    Excellent rendition from pandith VK.mediocre harmonium accompaniment

  • @autobotftwww
    @autobotftwww 7 років тому

    The harmonium breaking up the flow of the performance is intensely annoying. I am no great enemy of the harmonium as accompaniment, many greats used it and it can add to a certain heavy male voice, but this bhommpee-bhommpee stuff is too much. They would be better suited playing more isolated notes, fulfilling a similar function to the tanpura.
