I was an 8-year-old third grader here in suburban Philadelphia. However, I have been to Los Angeles four times. On my visits there back in '78 to celebrate my 21st birthday, in 1981, and in 1983, I listened to this station when it was an all-news station. However, when I was last out in L.A. back in October of 2015, I didn't listen to any of the radio stations.
Rebel "Reb" Foster with newsman Bill Angel. Reb was previously on KRLA and would eventually return to being one of the Eleven Ten Men in 1967. He later was manager of Three Dog Night.
When we used to play whiffle ball in the street, our transistors would be on the curb blasting KRLA, KFWB or KHJ. In fact, that was exactly how I learned of JFK's assassination.
It would've had to have been KFWB or KRLA. I can't imagine kids listening to KHJ in '63...it was an adult format in those days. Boss Radio didn't start until '65.
@lauradsly8020: I too was also 9 years old back in '66 as well. I had turned 9 that October. And I was born and raised right here in suburban Philadelphia.
@@signjoey No problem...I just found out that KFWB moved to Yucca and Argyle...literally right behind Capitol Records...in 1976. Now, nothing's at 6419 Hollywood Blvd. where KFWB once stood. It's a vacant lot.
I was 18 yrs old. I remember ALL the great LA based radio shows. B. Mitchell Reed:"Three in a row on the B.M. R. show!" The Real Don Steele, Wolfman Jack, Lloyd Thaxton, and Loman & Barkley! No more great radio personalities like them around anymore. The last one in my opinion was Rick Dees. He's gone, too. He did the "Time Fairey" which today would land him in a "Gay defamation" law suit. The sense of humor fairey died, too. Good luck next generation! You've inherited a boring, sterile, left wing propaganda media!
Great quality for the age of this aircheck. Thanks for sharing this wonderful memory maker.
This was when I was 10 years old and just started really listening to top 40 radio...KFWB, KRLA and KHJ ! memories
I'm 74 now
I remember every one of these songs when they were new.

The first of the Warner Brothers radio stations, long since sold, went from Color to B&W and eventually all-news under Westinghouse.
