How to Catch More Winter Bass with Lipless Crankbaits

- Lipless crankbaits are among the most versatile baits in your box and continue to perform excellently for bass during the winter months (even ice fishing - • How to Ice Fish Bass W... ). Oklahoma-based Luke Palmer has come to rely on rattle baits to locate and milk schools of wintering bass relating to isolated grass on main lake points and flats.
Palmer stresses the need to experiment with different retrieves, bait colors, sizes, and even line diameter to dial in the bite. As with most crankbait fishing, making contact with cover is a powerful trigger. Palmer explains how to contact the grass, then engage the bait to trigger reaction strikes from lethargic bass.

Wired2fish is the greatest fishing channel on UA-cam. Hands freakin down 🔨🎣🔨🎣
Wow, thanks Travis!
It’s all about the grass and snap 💯
I've invested in so many lipless, and haven't been successful on them. Going to need as much help as possible.
My favorite hard bait! Had my best bassin day in 2020 with a Rapala Rattlin Rap. I’ve caught crappie & brown trout on em too! Keep at it.
Personal Experience... Strike King Red Eye Shad is a great option. Watch KVD break it down on colors, actions and where to target. I used to despise lipless cranks until I forced myself to learn them and boy did I ever. As your confidence improves so will your effectiveness. Wishing tight lines!
I catch all my big bass in them. I don't have many colors jus all kinda reds green or orange. They work perfectly
I like to fish it like a blade bait in the winter.
Me too bro even if there is no grass I just kind of yo-yo that thing sometimes violently ripping it even without grass... I love it
P.s. I love your channel also great videos🤘
@@martymooney8099 Thank you sir
@@BassGeek You are welcome my friend maybe one day you can try out my home lake Neely Henry here in Gadsden Alabama
Great video 🔥 I fish a lot of lipless cranks this time of year, but haven't experimented much with that red craw type color. I'll probably end up going & picking one up later today 🤙
Great content
Wired2fish #1
Man bass fishing has changed alot since I used to fish tournaments.used to you actually had to know how to work a lure and know what the bass were doing.now you just go spend several thousand on a live scope and you can call yourself a pro
Tis the season for red crankin! 🇺🇸
Weather itd be lipless crank or jerk its reds time of the year! Good video i feel as if seth fieder is more informative ...
Good video.
Doesn't matter if it's 40 degrees or 80 degrees I'll burn it over shallow cover
That might be winter fishing if you live in texas or florida
This was filmed in Oklahoma in mid-Dec. Our audience is national in scope, so we create video content in wide-ranging geographies. Sometimes the content applies to one's location, sometimes the location is irrelevant, sometimes it does matter. Either way, there are usually relevant takeaways that can be applied during the fishing season.
@@Wired2Fish I don't believe this was in Oklahoma. Can you provide gps coordinates? Asking for a friend. And by friend I mean my crankbait.
I’ve never caught anything on a lipless. Thrown it probably a 100 times in my life and never even got a bite.
Take one rod out one day and only chuck lipless and you will figure it out. This is what I've done with techniques to figure them out.
Nicely done but it may be hard to call this winter time fishing wearing a ball cap and no gloves. . . .
exactly. Water temp around here is in the high 30's. there is no grass left and they are all super deep in the reservoirs
The main issue I have with most of these youtube videos is that it usually seems that they are on private lakes. I love fishing private and public, but anyone can look like an expert fishing a private lake.
Fish have nowhere to go with livescope now
In a freaking pond! Of course you can catch them like that...
Seems like live scope would take the fun out of fishing, knowledge and instincts are no longer needed, just troll around til you see fish in front of the boat and cast to them
It’s now hunting .
@@gerryhazelton9569 yeah like those dear feeders to get a kill ain't hunting either
@@ricardoalvear8765 or dogs that chase animals into trees and the hunter points the gun up and easily kills the animal
I kick around in my float tube and cast like crazy til I find em!
@@throwluckfishing5785 dude I’ve been kayak fishing and canoe fishing my whole life . Always find them .
Technology is taking knowledge away from fishing.
