Whenever I listen to The Midnight, I'm transported someplace I've never been before and I become less of an alter-ego and more of a different person entirely; while still holding onto my own memories and past experiences. Its truly a magical feeling to be sure
My dude, imagine if you have lived this place. I am proud of my childhood years and this music reminds me of how I was living. And wanna live again. With this music I become more of myself and it is truly magical
This is ChatGPT's interpretation of the lyrics: The lyrics describe a person's experience of feeling lost and disconnected in a city, with the city itself portrayed as a dark and ominous presence. The imagery of shadows, silhouette, and darkness is used to convey the feeling of isolation and alienation. Completely agree with you on this one. Shadows is a masterpiece and one of The Midnight's absolute best songs. I've listened to it dozens of times and never grown tired of it. The atmosphere and tone is intoxicating. Also, I heard it live last year when I saw The Midnight in concert and it made me love and appreciate the song even more.
@@JonathanBelle Oh it did, my friend. It was an unforgettable night. The most intimate and thrilling concert I've ever been to. I was blown away by just how good they were live. And their saxophone player tore it up!

I can't stop listening and it helps me to stop thinking about all of life's problems and just concentrate on the excellent music and lyrics, even if it's just for a few minutes. thank you very much and keep it up, your channel is going to grow a lot more! greetings from argentina

Simply Amazing ! This song is in top the 3 The Midnight is the reason I started listening to Synthwave. I wish Kalax and the midnight do a collab Essenger X The Midnight would be fire as well 🔥💙💨
It's one of many amazing songs by the Midnight. The vocals and melodies are beautiful but a lot of the vibe comes from the production quality and copious amounts of side-chain compression
This video showed up on a random music playlist for me.. and I have to say I'm impressed with the vibe of your channel and this video! I thought you looked pretty badass sliding out.. and was like.. this man is living the synthwave dream right here! I will check out some of your other stuff :D
love the music, your retro terminator looking.. everything about the video is good. I notes that every video you upload you are just getting better than before.
This song makes me think of Iron City... It just fits that whole vibe... Iron City, for those that may not be familiar, is a fictional city from Alita Battle Angel. (Great movie...I highly HIGHLY recommend)
I love the synth beats here, they're as good as ever in this song. The lyrics are great, the keyboard notes are great, the percussive notes are great. What I DON'T like though is the vaporwave sound in the chorus right in the middle of the track. It ruins the whole song for me in fact. I'm talking about the altered tone of the vocals that drops it down a couple octaves and distorts it. I've tried vaporwave time and time again and it just grates on me no matter who produces it. It just doesn't mesh well with other synthwave sounds to me. I wish I could love this song as much as you do. If not for that vaporwave sound it would be one of my favorites too. But I respect that you love this song. Far be it from me to diminish that.
Shadows, Memories, Los Angeles, Jason, Bend, Sunset, all really good songs from The Midnight that I've heard so far and I'm constantly coming across new ones as I listen to more from them.
This band is a gem. They're incredible in true sense. The way they capture the entire essence and vibe of synth is pure bliss. That's a mark of a true artist and a true genius.
that tapping sound at the intro makes me think of a woman in heels....is she walking towards us, or away? or is she just trying to make it through the streets and the dark alleys and the neon signs and make it home before she is accosted by the "shadows" void of form...just one interpretation. Perhaps her fear makes her a stranger to herself. or is she the girl to whom the singer has said goodbye, and now he is navigating the streets among the shadows, everyone else a void form in the absence of Her, tearing them apart...has he cheated on her with one of these shadows, these unimportant unloved formless "other" for which he "don't know why I do it". he regrets cheating on her, she is walking away, he returns to the streets, not quite himself but lost in the darkness and the shadows, a shadow of himself that creeps in? in any case....ATMOSPHERE AF.
When I heard this song the first time, I immediately thought of Flynn and Clu, from "Tron Legacy", with the city being The Grid. And Sam not understanding why his father seems to have different personalities....not knowing that its Clu. "The Midnight" really pulls my imagination to that of "Tron".
One of the best tracks of "Nocturnal" album i think :) one of my favourite ! I love the perfect atmosphere of this track in a rainy night when i drive my car :). I love this track so much ! Very cool retro glasses man ! I love it hehe :D
