    I have 3 CZ’c, a ‘73 250, a ‘73 400, and a ‘75 400 Falta Red Frame. These were purchased in the crate and assembled by my father, my brother and myself. The 250 I started riding when I was 11 years old , the 400 when i was 14. The Falta was our fathers and and just seems to be my favorite, I guess because our father has passed on and he was the inspiration for us to enjoy these machines. His memories live on in the sound and performance every time I twist the throttle. They are not as original factory as these beautiful bikes are but they are restored and in as pristine showroom quality. Thank you Kaplan America for this awesome presentation of these dinosaurs that will live on forever.

    What fun and great memories!! CZ/Jawa, MZ, WSK and probably a few others in the early to mid-1970s could be purchased by mail and the crate delivered right to your front door until Joan Claybrook killed off the two-strokes. A friend of mine did it and we had a terrific time uncrating, assembling and then riding the bike.

Two guys turn up with CZ 250’s, I’d see these in magazines, but to see them I front of me I stood there in awe. Incredible bike!! I hated the way it looked back then because it was like 79 and the Japanese bikes where dominating. I think i was around 12 years old. Had it way north on some trails when the dammed thing pinned wide open. I was never so scared in my life, rode it for miles through the woods until i got back to the lodge and a grown up was able to kill the engine by pulling the plug wire. Turned out the card slide cap had come loose and it was winding out full bore! good times.

    Great motorcycles. I had the pleasure of Amatuer MX racing from 1970 to 1974 on a 250 CZ. Great memories. New in 1970 I paid $1,200 for the bike, watched the dealership in San Diego uncrate the bike, and it came with extra primary sprockets and gear puller. I lived a few miles from Carlsbad Raceway in So Cal. Roger DeCoster started out with CZ. Watched him and Joel Roberts in 1968 at a track laid out in the Hollywood Hills through an outdoor old west movie set. Interesting how CZ (a gun maker) got into the motorcycle business. A small builder JaWa was building motorcycles in Prague in the 1920s. Hitler invades Czechoslovakia in the 30s and forces JaWa to become part of CZ and build motorcycles for das fuhrer. Problem was JaWa had been importing motors from Wagner out of England. So with the help of CZ they build a sturdy two cycle motor. After their so called liberation by USSR JaWa forced by communist to remain part of CZ and build motorcycles for Uncle Joe. Somewhere along the line someone figured out if you strip off the street crap and put on knobby tires it was a great off road motorcycle. Communist do what communist do by sucking all the profit out of CZ. When long travel suspension came to market by Yamaha in 1974 there was zero money in JaWa CZ development budget. CZ motorcycles went into the dust bin of history by 1978.

    I do not know if you read the comments , but I need advice with regard to the motorcycle brand CZ, 380 cc motor, externally one in one as you have on the review , I would like to get more information about it. I myself am from Russia , I would like to upload photos in case of your response. On the RU Internet, almost nothing is known about it.

    I don't understand why open face, throwback helmet manufactures don't include a google strap in the back.

    Amazing the Communists had such a dirt bike and let it exist. But Cheng Shin tires?? I think Ken you forgot to mention Can Am when talking about 250 torque and HP in the mid 70's. Lovely Day, great bikes.

      kuladeeluxe they aren’t bad tires honestly, but for true originality ? I’d do something different, Barum’s maybe ? IDK I too love the Can-Am’s , did you see the 370 MX he had? Man that thing had some bass

    Was it Jawa that bought them?

    • @myxlan
      @myxlan 4 роки тому

      Not exactly, communists "fuse" CZ and Jawa in 1954? into one company. It's bit complicated, but later all engines for Jawa and CZ were made in CZ factory.
