एक सफल और सार्थक जीवन के लिये जितना ज़रूरी खुद पर भरोसा करना है, उतना ही ज़रूरी अहंकार और आत्मप्रशंसा से मुक्त रहना भी है। अक्सर ही हम इस बारीक सीमा का अतिक्रमण कर जाते हैं और हमारा व्यक्तित्व आत्मकेंद्रित हो जाता है। इसी प्रवृत्ति को मनोविज्ञान की भाषा में 'Narcissism' या 'आत्म-मुग्धता' कहा जाता है।
आत्म-मुग्धता क्या है, यह आत्मविश्वास से कैसे अलग है, यह कैसे हमारे व्यक्तित्व और समाज को नुकसान पहुँचाती है, इसके क्या लक्षण हैं और इस मानसिकता से कैसे पार पाया जा सकता है - इन तमाम पहलुओं पर यह परिचर्चा केंद्रित है। साथ ही यूनानी मिथक 'नार्सिसस' से निकले इस शब्द की रोचक उत्पत्ति से भी आप परिचित हो सकेंगे और इस बात से भी कि कैसे महाभारत में श्रीकृष्ण ने इस प्रवृत्ति से बचने की सलाह दी थी! उम्मीद है कि संयमी और संतुलित व्यक्तित्व निर्माण में यह चर्चा सहायक हो सकेगी।
Dear friends,
For a successful and meaningful life, as much as it is important to believe in yourself, it is equally important to be free from ego and self-praise. Very often we cross this fine line and our personality becomes self-centered. This tendency is called Narcissism or Self-obsession in the language of psychology.
What is self-obsession, how it is different from self-confidence, how it harms our personality and society, what are its symptoms and how to overcome this mindset - all these aspects are the focus of this discussion. Along with this, you will also be able to get acquainted with the interesting origin of this word derived from the Greek myth 'Narcissus' and how Shri Krishna advised to avoid this tendency in the Mahabharata!
It is expected that this discussion will be helpful in building a restrained and balanced personality.

I am from Nepal and currently living in CA, USA. You are my recent discovery and it didn't take me long to know the value and deeper meaning of your teaching. I am in wait for your video on this channel. Like previous ones, this video also didn't disappoint me. There is no doubt that in the name of individuality, as a society, we are promoting and cultivating narcissism. I can identify many narcissistic traits in me too in the form of self-centeredness. I don't see these traits as morally bad, rather take them as my illness and have been practicing healing in many ways. Even though I have been a lot better, those traits are still active in me in a very subtle way. Thus, the healing process should never stop and it goes on for life long. In my experience, I have found that it is very hard for a Narsassit person to reach the point of realization and become willing to take action to resolve the narcissist traits in him/her and more over healing is a very long and slow process. So, the main solution is to raise our kinds in a very loving, accepting, and encouraging environment.

Every nanosecond to picosecond of your video is so so insightful sir. .... And the real thing is that I saw this when I really needed to be guided. I didn't realise how the time went by. You rebuilt my determination to face life in a better way, sir. I am going through same toxic situation in my life due to my nervous condition since when I was just 3 months old. I'm about 38 years now, sick with epilepsy , injured after accident in highway with ligaments disjoint and torn in whole right leg and right hand, have osteoarthritis, and unemployed with only 4 tuitions students who come to my home, I want to lead a life with the wisdom you provided and not fall prey to unnecessary vices . I know to teach and I know, the only way for me to carry forward, is to work, teach and do yoga and exercise, even staying in a negative and toxic mental and physical environment.
Just now the main laptop I had also broke down due to electric shock, I was really devastated , presently I cannot repair it. I checked .
And All of sudden your video is recommended by youtube and you will not believe how well you made my mind strong. All this while, as I was watching your video, I was like saying to myself, don't lose hope, don't fail, never be brain fogged, it helped. Yes, I confess that I wept after the video ended. But, I felt strong to carry on with the goal in life , the goal to support people who faced similar situation but didn't or don't ,in present, have a emotional support to carry on, in their dark and down times, I will and definitely ... Will do this with a blog and convert to ngo.... And I hope to to guided and mentored by you sir. Thanks again sir
