Mrs Olaleye you are an unsung hero. You chose humanity over family , ethnic., religion , and Social stance. You are a Hero. I am glad to witness your steadfastness.

Well said ladies, everyone made a good point on this issue. My point though is who is prosecuting those that married young girls,9,10 years children in Nigeria? Those force marrying children because they can should be prosecuted too.Children should be allowed to be children and grow up.Thank you.

God is Great! Justice For Rape and Sexual Assault Victims! And for those who are crying that life imprisonment is too much: What about the victims that have to deal with these trauma for the rest of their lives?!

All these important information should be addressed in Primary and Secondary schools. Educate the children on what to do if someone take advantage of them.

Justice finally worked! What about the poor under privilege that have been defiled by the so-called big men in society the pastors etc. I hope justice is going to be served without fear or favour to ALL.

Nigerian men and boys have been so entitled for too long. Sad to see this happen to someone who is a useful member of society but parents, church leaders, mosque leaders, law enforcement , motivational speakers etc have always focused and fixated on teaching girls, women about chastity, modesty no one teaches boys about Self control as a matter of fact we put the boy child on a pedestal, he can roam as he likes, sow his oats everywhere even when married, have side chicks or marry more than one. This patriarchy has not served society since societal evolution. No one teaches men about the mid life crisis. well justice is served.. He will be remorseful in prison when they turn him to a woman. He should be happy he's not in the US where other prisoners will kill him for defiling a child.

Putting boys and men on a pedestal is so dangerous for society.

May l suggest sex education around consent, please. Parents, schools, churches and Mosques must preach against forced sex. Seminars on how rape and forced sex affect the victims. Cultural practices that condone rape must stop.

It’s good to know we have the channels in Nigeria to report rape cases but it seems so convoluted! “Go here to report, then go there to escalate, go get r*pe kit, then take it to Mirabel here…”
Also, is the process consistent across all states?
We are doing well, but more needs to be done.
Police officers need appropriate training for consistency and empathy.
Kids need education so they know what’s right and wrong and who to go to if they are affected.

Good to see that justice was done in Nigeria for rape and hope on all other very serious cases that are considered hard to fight such as money laundering, fraud, hits and runs.
This is why Islam is a very good religion, as it states that male doctors and male nurses CANNOT do any work regarding female body parts as it is Haram( forbidden), only female nurses and female doctors can handle female bodies. But in Nigeria they put a lot of males to do this and it is very wrong, sadly.
