The ECU relies on the values of multiple modules / sensors to tune for a 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio. It relies heavily on the upstream O2 sensors to do this. Most likely, it will cause the fuel trims to change dramatically but you may not always feel it, if the ECU is able to control the issue but it will throw a DTC code and turn the check engine light on. Also, if it's a lean condition, which most of the time it is, you may notice an increase in fuel consumption, so your wallet will surely misfire....

The two black wires are the twelve volt feed wires...they can be tested by using the continuity setting and touching both connectors with the leads
You might want to retest the first one because you were struggling on that second one. You might be able to return it and get your money back

This is how to test the heating only, but not the sensor itself..
I may be wrong, but as far as I know, the two white wires are the heaters, the black and blue are the ground and sensor

some have 2 black wires and 2 more with different colors

it depends,
hot wires are 2 wires with the same color,
it may have 1 black and another color wire but 2 whites
those 2 whites would be the hot wire

Yes on my chevy I got a bad miss fire with po300. It was a bad upstream o2 sensor. I aslo work in a shop.

@@jessicavazquez4195 a lean indication will cause the ECU to dump for fuel to "fix" the lean issue. That's what he meant
