Nice solid job would look good on a little shelf above the railway. Like the ruined Corfe Castle on the Swanage Railway it makes a good backdrop with the Castle overlooking the Railway. Brilliant video - cheers
You managed to cut that very Caerphilly Allan. Extremely well built , neat and patiently done....your eyes are getting better with age. Should be a few shananagins in the old castle when the TV crews come back! All the best ,take care, Darren👍
That was great. Brilliant model. These card models are getting better. They used to show a white line down the foulds in the corners of the building. With all the layers, it look really sturdy.
Good man Allan, I must say I do like metcalfe models, they look good well though out and solid. Because of the nature of my layout, her indoors likes to have her dinning room back every so often.(yea I know selfish or what) so when the railway needs to go away all my buildings have to go away. They store in boxes under the stairs wrapped in bubble wrap and come out no problems, except for the odd chimney. Great looking model nicely build. Stay safe there see you on the next one Eddy xx
Hi Allan i wonder how many of us got one of those for Christmas! I am watching this video in dribs and drabs, thank you for sharing.I really enjoy building these kits,i also do some Superquick kits but their instructions can be a bit confusing at times.
Hi Allan, A super video on the build letting us know what to look for but the only thing I thought was a bit funny was when you look at the windows the glass (plastic) goes over the stone work for the window frames were as in reality it would be behind I would think although i am not sure a building of this age would have glass at all but it still looks the business and will look great on the layout, when you were talking about the whole castle at 60 odd quid you could have mentioned that Mal has a complete one on his layout. Keep up the good work and what about trying this challenge I did tonight your layout is made for it. Keep well and safe and another Lockdown Short tomorrow. Cheers Robert.
Very nice Allan. The thing about castles is Cromwell probably knocked them about a bit. You could do a Conway and have a wall across a line (line through an arch) but going really nowhere.
Very cool. I am very impressed with how these kits look. A similar Faller or Kibri plastic castle kit can cost up to 150 Pounds or more. I do like how the instructions say "things get fuzzy here" lol... I love an honest sense of humor in the instructions. Anyhow, great job and looking forward to its placement! Cheers!
Hey! What have you done with our Allan? Lol. Very well done Allan. Very professional. I was thinking as you were building, Allan wouldn’t have been able to produce this video without being able to use all the knowledge he has accumulated over all his videos. Long winded sentence I know, but I think you understand what I mean. This was a very well produced tutorial. And the end results are very nice. It’s really a great looking building. Thanks for sharing this build. See ya next time.
Thank you Norman..it`s just knowing what to film.other wise you end up with to many hours of work..They are a simple kit to build really. And there very strong when built..Yorkshire Mal has got one on his layout..looks good..Lovely parcel to tim by the way..Top Man..
Now the Dragon has a castle to live in as every castle should one. Metcalfe has been very clever in making that kit with two suicide doors because they know that people will not leave them like it. Do not forget the flag on the top of Dragon Castle. Martin. (Thailand)
I like that idea of Suicide doors..could be part of a new story Martin..lol..Am looking for a Dragon and the flag..as soon as am let out from the lockdown.. Thanks for watching..
Hi Allan, really nice job on the Castle mate, I’m really impressed with that Metcalfe kit, i hope there might be room for one at Exehaven, we’ll see how it works out. Cheers for now mate John
Another good video, great build and showing how you did it. Metcalfe do great kits. Always make me smile and feel happy after your videos, Well done, Thanks for the time and effort you put in to produce videos to show us what your upto ,,, All the best x The Bigfella x ps Do you have any problems with damp atmosphere in your shed. Presently building a new shed myself
Hi Bigfella...as for damp no..as long as it`s water proof and insulated no issues. Insulating is also good for the summer it keeps the heat off the walls and roof in side. Stops the layout getting cooked and track damage. Mines 2" or 50mm thick..
Hi Allen, thanks for sharing your build, it looks fairly straight forward. Are you going to build the other sections to complete a castle? Stay safe, best wishes...
Nice Castle me Lord Al. sorry mate...Its an impressive kit. have you got the space for it as it looks huge. thanks for sharing the build with us.. stay safe my friend...........Tony
Good work Allan. I do like the Metcalfe kits. I’ve got three up and one to do. What lacquer do you use to seal it?I am in a loft but I think I will need to protect the kits as you suggested. Thanks for sharing. Roy.
I thought that castles were made of stone or bricks!! Beautiful kit, but I won’t be building one because neither Ongar Station or the Port of Leith have visible castles.
Sorry Digger ..answered the wrong one. Only i had some prat on making silly comments. He was having a go at me over different things.so i put him stright..lol..one comment said ( i thought castles were made out of stones and bricks. so why do i have a card one )....there just unreal some of these people.do you get silly comments..?..i have deleted most of his comments .which he made 5 of..Just an ass hole troll.i should name and shame ..but ill pass on this one..

Hi Alan. I think the Romans were in Britain somewhat earlier than when this castle was built. Lovely job, though. Well done.

Cheers Robert..Am going to look into doing that challenge..
Very nice Allan. The thing about castles is Cromwell probably knocked them about a bit. You could do a Conway and have a wall across a line (line through an arch) but going really nowhere.
Yes Leslie it did cross my mind doing conway..
Thats a really nice detailed kit....great job building it up. Looks great. Cant wait to see it on the layout
Cheers Phil..Just got to make some space for it..lol..
Very nicely done Allan. I think my local British shop has them in at a reasonable price, nowhere for it on the layout though.
Yes David wished i had more space on my layout..could have done it like conway castle (north wales )with the railway going through it..
Keeping up with the Wilbury castle lol , good one Alan 😎👌Fred
Cheers Fred..

Great castle Allan, just think about the stories that could come from that! Glynn
You never know Glynn..Could have a dagon in the story..lol..
Hi Allen, thanks for sharing your build, it looks fairly straight forward. Are you going to build the other sections to complete a castle? Stay safe, best wishes...
Thank you Barry..Not planning to build the rest of the castle due to lack of space on the layout. But never say never ..lol..
Great video Allan and an interesting build. A Question though - is this going to be the new residance of the Vicar and his wife I wonder ? :) Dave
Mo Allan,
Nice kit there, are you going to get the rest of it and squeeze it in, maybe on another level,
Not to sure yet Mick..it is a big kit with all the parts..Have to have a think of where to fit it in..
@@lord-al-2024 I'm sure you'll have a Cunning plan
Nice Castle me Lord Al. sorry mate...Its an impressive kit. have you got the space for it as it looks huge. thanks for sharing the build with us.. stay safe my friend...........Tony
i do have to find some where to put it..lol..don`t answer that..lol..

@@lord-al-2024 Thanks , TONY
this is a great kit bit time consuming with the windows but it was relaxing tho
great video and model. where are you going to put it on your layout
Yes when i find some space for it..
I thought that castles were made of stone or bricks!! Beautiful kit, but I won’t be building one because neither Ongar Station or the Port of Leith have visible castles.
You could build the small watch towers..
Hi Allen thats a decent structure, looks very convincing are you going to get the rest of the kits for a full castle
P.S. For got what you asked..lol.. no more kits at the moment for the near future .it`s hard to find the space or gap on the layout..lol..
Metcalf kits are really easy and look impressive too,so who’s going to fall off the top in the next murder mystery 👍
I like your thinking..Could be a good story..lol..
I’m just building this kit I found some of the instructions confusing but overall good.
Yes i under stand .some kits are like that . PECO did a demo film on that kit on youtube film.
Called PECO TV .LK 80 Train Shed Unit
i have just done one myself
