Hansdhwani is my favorite raga.
A fine explanation. Another trivia it is ok. The Pallas commander during their war with the Chalukya of Karnataka in Badami ( Vatapi is another name) as part of his battle spoils picked up a Ganapati statue and installed it in Tamil Nadu. Vatapi Ganapatim Bhaje is in praise of this Ganesha idol of Badami . 😀

Great tune indeed. But the original is a carnatic classical song (Vaathaapi Ganapathim Bhaje) composed by Muthusamy Dikshitar.
Whenever there is any program, before starting the actual proceedings, this song is sung / played to take the blessings of Lord Ganesh so that the program goes on without any hindrance.
Dont know what the modern people are doing, but this used to bw the norm back in those days
