After thoroughly considering this piece of machinery so I can do my own struts and other people's struts for a fraction of what RIP off, highway robbery shops charge I am feeling good about this. I have done the replacement of the entire front suspension of my car for nearly nothing. That's including parts and tools. Anyway I am so anxious about getting this thing. Can't wait thanks for the review and on how to properly use that chain. I needed to know what was its purpose. Thanks
Great video. I am seriously considering getting the compressor to do the struts on my Ram 1500. The only thing that is holding me back is the negative reviews on amazon. Some people had experienced catastrophic failures of this particular tool, including shattered metal top plate. A decent US made compressor would cost about $1000 CAD, which is very expensive for a weekend mechanic. What is your honest opinion on this compressor?
I bought mine off of Amazon.ca and did not see any bad reviews but the US site might have some. It worked well for what we used it for, any time your are compressing a spring like that you have to be cautious anyways. To me this is a lot safer that the threaded ones to compress springs. I think for the occasional user it works just fine.
Just bought one just like this but crank style instead of pump. Even with the small cups I'm still having issue getting them into the strut spring...super tight. Any advise before I break out the hammer?
Maybe just touch up the cup a bit with a die grinder? They are pretty rough castings. If I was using it everyday I would probably get some plasma cut out of mild steel.
When handling tools it's great to have mates with you to be safe
That is my son Ratheon, the vehicle belongs to his girl friend.
Nice compression job..!!
Thanks Ross !
Great to See you do your own work on your car's save lots of money
It sure does CAR MAC, helps the boys out.

Thank you, it is a very useful tool for a relatively small investment.
Looks interesting , I am more used to working on bicycles but perhaps some day I will perform a procedure similar to this one.
Everything costs so much to have fixed these days, the more you can do yourself the better.
I looked at those style spring compressors years ago on Amazon.
Works pretty good Ken for the price Ken.
He’s blocking the whole strut assembly. Lol
And your point is ?
Can’t get to compress enough to get anywhere, And ideas?
Check the fluid in the jack ?
I still wouldn't place my head on top the tool though.
Fair point.
Is that a homemade strut spring compressor or did you buy something and modify it? I love it
Hi Darrell, I bought it off of Amazon. It was so cheap and free shipping that you could not make it cheaper yourself.

It wasn't as bad as I thought...just a few love taps and it was in
Hi looks like a good compressor, I saw part 1 and at the end the release pedal was stock so what did you do to make that pedal move?
Probably just pumped it a couple of times, can't recall? Thanks for watching !
Ah ok so it's all good, I'll be buying one like that soon coz need to replace my ML strut. Thanks for your info.
@@efrenresurreccion5612 It is a great deal on Amazon, not much more than the mechanical ones which I feel are more dangerous.
I've had one break and Spring back not fun..🇺🇸🤠
Yes, they could have a hidden crack. You never know so always good to be cautious.
