      Thank you very much for sharing such informations about techniques. I really like the idea of ultra glazing and rim light effects. Somehow try to follow too.

    It's amusing that the thumbnail image for your Color Theory For Artists video has a white outline around your head and the color wheel makes a perfect halo.

    I am trying to learn impasto. I mostly do expressionist portraits. I am struggling with the impasto, though. And mixing colors has been so difficult I have been working in black and white mostly.

    I tend to do empasto style for hair but just use lots of oil paint. I dont know if its favorite but it makes hair more fun for me otherwise it becomes stupidly tedious. I do wet on wet most the time

    Bonjour Florent.

    hello. I am a student who started oil painting for about 3 months. I was reading an article about blocking and was curious, so I would like to ask a question. What oil should I use when blocking? I searched through numerous videos and articles, but couldn't find it. The two oils I have on hand are flaxseed oil and gamsol. (Please understand that I am not good at English, so I am using Google Translator)

    Hi Florent, thank you so much for the video. many informations.
    1:00 I tried to make this blue, I never succeeded. So far, so dull. I thought it was a magic blue with a special pigment. is it all about glazing?

    • @jonathondowning1851
      @jonathondowning1851 Рік тому +2

      I cant speak for his process, but id say using pure blue out of the tube will give u a vibrant color like that. In my experience mixing any black, white or other color with the blue will make it dull and decrease vibrancy. I mix 50/50 linseed oil and mineral spirits with the color, then brush it on. There are a lot of transparent blues which will work well, but i just use regular opacity paint and it works. I would use cobalt blue, maybe ultramarine, but again thats just me. Some colors that are so vibrant like the blue in the video can only be obtained through multiple glazes. I do use artist grade paints by holbein so that may be a factor because those paints have more pigment than less expensive brands. Hope this helps!

      @pierreclaudelpaintings Рік тому +1

      @@jonathondowning1851 thanks a lot for sharing your process, I will try that out !

      @gideonk123 Рік тому +2

      @@pierreclaudelpaintings Note that different but very similar colors from the same manufacturer may have different transparency properties, especially when slightly diluted using a bit of medium (such as a bit of linseed oil). Manufacturers of artist-grade paints will have icons or stars denoting transparency vs opacity. For example, in blues, ultramarine is typically vibrant but also rather transparent.

    my brother wtf, you cannot begin video from saying "im not gonna tell you what glazing is because i already did video on that"... if you want me to watch that video keep me intrested not send me right at the beggining to watch something else before because it becomes not a relaxing way to spend time but a chore. if you dont want to talk about all the details about it you could at least make a quick summary ...
