She slept with his son because she was young and got scared by the sudden knowledge that Ka D'argo was planning to propose marriage to her along with settling down together on a farm somewhere. Being young and very immature, Chiana couldn't handle it and couldn't handle what she felt at the time to be a restraint on her freedom. As she often stated "I do what I want", so she did and it cost her dearly. Immature people often pay very, very dear prices for what they do in life.
