Hahah this was my grandads car, he traded it in at Suzuki and bought a new Ignis, just FYI that's not the state we left the car in 🤣 It didnt have any dogs in it or any farm use. The car wasn't used badly offroad just up to a clay pigeon shoot and back, the car was definitely used and abused since we traded it in and you bought it, gonna show him this video and ask him if he forgot he had those glasses 🤣
There was a recall by Kia at some point because of excessive rear subframe rusting issues if I remember correctly. Also the red reflector thing is a passenger door light cover.
like you said in the video, a simple formula! Which is exactly why the series "I bought a cheap" performs so well! it's addictive, keep up the great work Matt!
THAT WAS MY DADS CAR !!!! The bonnet was damaged by slates off his roof and he said the side damage was done by someone at morrisons lol.we didn't believe him!
Brilliant video as always..I like the fact you say it how it is and don't waffle like some. You are the master at making this type of car purchase review videos. Please don't stop making them. Looking forward to the next 🙂👍
I guess the reason the reviews don't fly is so many people are doing them, whereas the one video start to conclusion with a side order of 'I've massively overspent' on an old banger is a Matt thing and you at your most entertaining. If I was going to watch a different type of video, it would be a buying guide to some of the used cars you sell a lot, especially the issues you often find and the fixes etc, because not only is it entertaining but useful. The most fun I ever had in the motor trade was when I was given a key and sent to pick up some random car, never knowing quite what I would get, apart from no fuel because they never have fuel, it's like an unwritten law.
Agreed. For me though, its not even because everybody does them, to be honest, I don't even watch Matt's car reviews and also no other new car reviews; its just that it's content that Im not interested in seeing, also not from other youtubers. Im subscribed to Matt exactly for the reasons you state and am not interested in reviews of new cars. I want to see how well or bad a shit box on a car park is, how it cleans up, what it costed and what it brought! Also I think its very interesting to hear which are good cars in his eyes, having sold a lot of them, and which are not.
More than familiar, been playing with real cars for 55 years, and I know a rustbucket when I see one. I used to own an F model Vauxhall Victor.@@andrewmooreandrewrmoore7615
I was one of the 11 viewers and really enjoyed seeing the evolution of the Sportage. Always good to see you mixing up the content, it keeps it fresh and interesting. Feel like KIA have really upped their game with the latest generation. Great content as always 👍🏻
My 2006 2.7lt V6 still going strong at 275,000km down here in Western Australia. No road salt and dry so no rust, apart from getting driver seat re-trimmed perfect interior, changed rear diff, transfer case and auto trans oil when I got at 220k. Intense aussie sun can be a bit hard on painted plastic but dash/door rubbers etc still good, regular armor-all them though. Don't skimp on quality for oil and filters, you buy cheap, you but twice.
Actually 12 viewers as I watched it too and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think your problem was the subject - KIA! Not inspiring to a lot of people but I found the transformation of the brand truly eye opening. Keep up the good work Matt and try new things from time to time, it is appreciated….
Being a car dealer is definitely your edge on UA-cam and the reason people flock to that flavour of content on your channel. That said I think there's room for you to grow into proper grown up car review material - your "should you buy" series is proof enough. Can't speak for anyone else but my reason for not being one of the 11 is the Kia Sportage being (imo) among the most dull cars put on sale. Keep at it!
The expression Matt's face when he saw the dented bottom, is probably like that of a person meeting someone from a dating App, whose picture is not quite the same as real life. I thought Matt was going to do a runner.
I personally really enjoyed the Kia Sportage video and it was in fact the video that introduced me to your channel so I would definitely watch anymore like it.
I had one of those in silver and loved it. Probably one of my favourite cars (apart from the current one which is a Forester on General Grabber AT3's!). They really are a great car. Enjoyed the other video on the Sportage history as well. 👍
I loved that Kia video. Some quality cd's there 😂😂. I am glad you overspent as it turned out great, and I am glad you saved it. Loving the content and videos.
Well done Jimmy I say. The original Kia Sportage history video was great. More of them type of video if possible. Do the Toyota RAV4 is my call. Good viewing as always Matt.
We've got one of these in Spain - it's indestructable but has a 2.0 litre petrol engine and is very heavy on fuel. The sun visors have failed too and are held up with tape!
Hyundai & Kia are very good and reliable cars, i´m surprised at how many people still dismiss them. I´v had two Hyundai´s since 2006, currently driving an i20 from 2018 that i bought new and been very happy with it, i´m on my third round trip from Finland to Spain in the i20, never had an issue neither with this one nor the old 2006 Accent that i had for 12 years.
Matt, your "overspending" is such an endearing trait. I also like your uploads mainly because of how the vehicle gets cleanup after you bought it. Keep up the tremensous work, Matt.
I did not watch that Sportage Montage because I am not interested in that car in that way :) Most viewers come for the process of transforming bargains to sell worthy cars. It's educational in a way and definitely builds your credibility as a car dealer.
I'd really like a video for a solid reliable beginner car, good visibility to park and isn't like a tiny clio/corsa. Struggling on what to pick as I don't know much about cars / mileage and what to avoid.
Watching this as passed my test a few months ago and got a 2009 Kia Sportage, 2W. Loving it so far but despite not being super short (5.5ft) I'm about a inch away from the wheel at most to reach the clutch!
Let’s face it,it’s not everyone that can afford a new car,I can’t,I’ve always had second hand so these videos are welcome to find out what to look out for.i like your content a lot, keep it up please.👍👍👍👍
I do prefer this type of original format compared to the more arty cinematic productions. Also, how you omitted the "Give me 2 weeks" etc, when we never have to wait more than a few seconds to find out. Keep up the good work! 👍
You’re right: videos of trade ins you are trying to turn round ARE more interesting than reviews of a model range history! Keep at it Matt, the car was worth buying just for the CDs and reading glasses.
I have a 2008 Sportage with a 2.0 liter petrol engine. A really good car still with no faults and no rust really. Loved your Kia Sportage special episode btw. 👍
Previous owner clearly had excellent taste in music. Also, I was one of those very few who watched that previous KIA Sportage video. Nothing to do with you, Matt. Your "scruffy" car videos are real and organic. That's why we watch. (But also to see if you'll massively overspend.) But _that_ video didn't feel organic. It felt as though KIA rented out a beautiful mansion and then invited you to do a video of the history of the KIA Sportage. Not your fault, we blame KIA for staging the whole thing. Plus, it's a history of the Korean KIA brand's Sportage. Had it been a historical look at the Mini, or MG's classic British Roadsters; the video would have gotten a massively bigger amount of views. Also, RIP Sensible Matt. We hardly knew you. 😉
I had a life-changing accident in January 2023 and ended up in hospital for several months. Matt's entertaining, high quality, informative videos really kept me going. I'm a bit of a collector, with a Morris Traveller, a Morris Tourer and an Austin Allegros....
Great car. 2004-2010 was the Hyundai / Kia high point with this and the old Sonata. Well done on saving it! And who doesn't love a bit of Frank?! Bonus!
Well it certainly turned out champion in the end 😁 well worth saving in my opinion 👍 and what would you do without Jimmy the Magician 💪 just make sure he never loses his wand !! Those valeters of yours definitely need a blue Peter badge for their efforts too !!
I had a 2008 pro Cee'd with the same 2l crdi and it's the reason I'll never buy another Kia or a car with a Diesel engine unless it's a pick up or BMW E39 530d
I saw you Sportage video, it was quite interesting tbh. You need to get rid of the dents in the bonnet, it's the first point of eye contact, do that and put it up for £3995. Enjoyed the journey through!
I watched the Kia video , I have a 71 diesel mild hybrid Sportage which is great . We got it to replace our 10 reg 2.0dci Qashqai with nearly 180k on the clock , which we still have . It is also tidier than this was if you ignore the rear number plate light / handle . I wish Jimmy the magician could sprinkle a bit of love on my E4 m coupe. It was replaced nearly two ears ago yet its still here too 🤷
Hyundais and Kias are quite reliable, my dad had a Hyundai i40, it was written off by a Yaris going 50-ish MPH, the front drivers side was completely destroyed but the engine still worked! obviously the car didnt move because the front drivers side was completely smashed in but thats besides the point lol
I watched the Sportage History video and really enjoyed it. I quite like when content creators mix things up and do something different, especially if it's something they are keen to do. I hope you at least enjoyed making it even if it wasn't the success you were hoping for.
Another good video Matt! Very informative. At the risk of getting this comment deleted or flagged, here goes. We recently got a 2nd car for the missus and did a vehicle check even though we were sure the car was ok with it's complete history. We found CarVertical to be expensive for a single check against VCheck and Total Car Check. Even with 20% off we got lowest price of £12.xx with a package deal of 3 checks on CarVertical. I am sure the prices weren't this high before from some of your older videos. I get the sponsorship bit but what is different to CarVertical than VCheck which we went ahead with? They do exactly the same job. For example, the VCheck was £9.99 for a single check.
I own a Sportage mk3 and loved your video on each generation. I suppose the appeal comes to people for those who own the make / model and the videos you make for the cars you could yourself own have a bit more appeal. 👍
I'll probably be buying second hand cars most my life so these videos are always a go to for me. I will watch the showcase videos if there's nothing else to watch
Just got home from a tiding day of work. Taking my dinner. Opened youtube cuz I watch utube with food. N new highpeak video means my day ends in heaven ❤️
Have you noticed that its the cheaper end of that market thats moving? I've seen thst the stuff between 20 and 30k has been dropping in price over the last 6m or so.
I had a 2013 diesel three months old when I bought it. Nice high spec I think it was mid range. kept it for eight years and sold it with only 50thou on the clock. Nice car very comfy. Came with a full size alloy spare too!
I'd love to see your cars getting all their work done, that's a huge interest of mine and the reason I love salvage rebuilds, mat armstrong, not economically viable etc etc etc, I'd love to see Jimmy the magician work his magic and your mechanics fix these cars up to showroom standard
Appreciate all your work making these videos (how do you make the time ?) but prefer the "I bought...." and especially your "road trips", they're great. I still think my idea of a "day in the life of a dealer" accompanied by a viewer/ competition winner could work !!
it's testament to your presenting skills and style of video that brought me to watch this video. I have zero interest in the car but, would happily watch you discussing the density of custard skin!! Well done!
As a banger driver all my life, I like seeing the outcome on older cars. Not so much the bodywork woes for its age but more the dependability. Cracking left wing one this
Older cars are much more interesting, plus everyone is making videos on the newest models. Also saving an older car and giving it more life is much mood ecological than anything new, it’s also more satisfying to watch. Oh, and older cars have their stories, seeing you discover quirks and guess what the previous owners were like is very interesting haha
Would love to see a video on cheap/used 7 seaters that would be suitable for a drive down to Spain. Looking at doing the trip this year, but only looking for something that is economical, reliable and practical for 2 kids and dog. Lots of options out there but I don't know where to start! Smax? Picasso? etc. Would be great to get your views on this Matt. Love the channel.
Well I watched the video so there can't be many viewers of it who haven't commented here so far! Someone has a cheap bargain there Matt. I love my 2017 Sporty Mk4 having done 25k miles in it now.
Matt, I've been watching your videos since pretty much the start. This format of video is relaxing and allows one to listen as well as look so its a great background channel. Whereas some review channels.are too high tempo and, if you blink, you miss a slide or a spec or too much detail. You're not German, you're not Germanic. You're a Northerner lad, so your tempo and delivery style suits me, an Irish man. I want knowledge, banter, heart over head etc etc. While I appreciate the rigour of LRTime, husband and wife Landrover lovehaters, and their German humour, I dig what your channel is about. You don't just like buying and selling cars, you like keeping them and secretly wish you could keep more (most) of em. Even the Citroens. I've had 3 Xantias. Big hit with the ladies, especially the French and ex French colony honeys. They reckon I'm a stubborn Francophile millionaire. Who else would insist on driving em? Much like Rovers 😂. Anyway, you love cars which means you have a secret shed filled with Citroen Renault and Peugeot relics. Maybe even an Aixam to impress an eco warrior bird or two. We watch because you do what we HOPE most dealers do (but they don't). You do proper work to bring a car back to forecourt condition. So a bit more emphasisnof that narrative would be good. Around the topic of right of refusal. Maybe thats too close to the bone as arming v troublesome types. But people will watch, and people will pay for, cars that have had proper work done. It shows great initiative and often inspires people to look at at potential buys, or their own daily drive, or their potential trade-in, afresh. Its great education fullstop. We love it. Crack on my man 🎉
Exactly the same thing happened to our Kia Sportage here in Poland. The rear sub-frame was heavily corroded and had to be replaced, seems to be a known defect with the Sportage and Hyundai Tucson.
Wonder?! I really like the Kia-all-models movie? Well, well, as i said earlier, you tipped me over to buy the best car i ever had/has, the Lexus RX 400h. Thanks alot! Greeting from Sweden

Is it true that the "wonder grip" van is now on AirBnB as a static caravan that's being rented out for fell walkers on a walking holiday on the moors?
Wow that rear subframe ! Shocking.
Not perhaps what you might expect in this day and age. Rather like an old Austin 1100.

A lot of brand snobbery about Kia. I predict in 20 years time they will sell more cars worldwide than all the German brands combined.

That CD collection was a Partridge gold mine
Haha it was
I've watched all of your videos. Enjoyed the lot including the Kia one 😊. Keep them coming. Best channel by far.
Well done!
Wow, thank you!
Nice job Matt , and another decent car saved
Would love to see a video on cheap/used 7 seaters that would be suitable for a drive down to Spain. Looking at doing the trip this year, but only looking for something that is economical, reliable and practical for 2 kids and dog. Lots of options out there but I don't know where to start! Smax? Picasso? etc. Would be great to get your views on this Matt. Love the channel.
Well I watched the video so there can't be many viewers of it who haven't commented here so far! Someone has a cheap bargain there Matt. I love my 2017 Sporty Mk4 having done 25k miles in it now.
Cheered me up no end when you pulled up wearing the previous owners glasses and then went through the cd collection 😂
Something about this format of video.....really interesting. Shows you how/ what to look for on a used car 👍🏻
Luv my 61 plate Sportage. Had her for 3 years now. Still pleasure to drive. 😊
Matt you need a big plate to go with your Partridgisms
How rude of Richard at Ricardo cars revving the m140 in the background while you started the walk around 🤦♂️🤣
Probably does it on purpose
Despite never having met him I therefore believe that Richard is a right tit.
Wonder?! I really like the Kia-all-models movie? Well, well, as i said earlier, you tipped me over to buy the best car i ever had/has, the Lexus RX 400h. Thanks alot! Greeting from Sweden
I think Wondergrip have learnt the art of product placement! (Got to be a few quid in it for you Matt!)
I had to laugh when you couldn't see anything through someone else's specs! Great vid and I'm glad you kept another one on the road.
Expensive CDs though. You get very good deal with your mechanics and paint chap. It has come up really well.
Love the Alan partridge quotes
Love this game of spot the Partidge quote
