Regarding the title. Starrcade 98 was a defining moment for me as a kid. I watched in horror as Goldberg was struck down with a stun gun. Nowadays I look back and think it was a great way to bring down the behemoth. I still remember how I felt screaming no! I also look back on DDP turning a chokeslam into a diamond cutter. And Billy Kidman running a marathon for 2 matches. Then I see that critics didn't like the show. And I can't for the life of me understand why. I know they're smarter than me and they have metrics that I can't understand, but shouldn't my review of it as a paying fan be just as legit as theirs? I was 13 years old, I had fun, I was a total mark. Life was good watching it. That's all.

Shane’s wife is Marissa Mazzola. There was a story years ago that she was part of the family that ran the Mazola corn oil company, but that company spells Mazola with one Z. There is another company called Mazzola Oil (with two Z’s) that is located in NY that produces heating oil. Not sure which company her family is connected to.
Much love for Big Kev. I’ve gained a whole new level of respect for Kevin Nash, after finding out that one of his favorite movies is “Black Hawk Down”. That movie features a bit of my late 2nd cousin, Sgt. Lorenzo Ruiz (AKA RUIZ in the movie). My mom and Sgt Ruiz were close relatives , and Sgt Ruiz unfortunately died during the period of my mom’s pregnancy while she was pregnant with me. Everyone was afraid to break the news to my mom of Sgt Ruiz’s passing, because they were afraid that she was going to have a miscarriage of me, due to their close brother/sister like relationship. Just knowing that Kevin Nash is a fan of that movie, gives me the feeling that he is also a fan of the sacrifices my family went through that period of time. I’ve also have a cousin currently serving in the Army, that is a pro wrestler on the Indy’s in SoCal, and we both respect the shit out of Big Kev, more after finding out that “Black Hawk Down” is one of his favorite movies. To us, that makes us feel that Kevin Nash is also showing love and respect to our late family members. In return, I keep T in mind, and hope he is resting peacefully. Thank you Sean and Kev for your work, I wish nothing but the best for you guys and the whole team. 💯
"it got cross over press" - did it get people who tuned in, who then stayed? Did it get more people to buy the PPV? THOSE should be the metrics. It's hilarious that "cross over press" is all Russo can hang his hat on, but the argument would collapse under its own weight with a simple question or two.

Really weird all the anti-WCW rhetoric nowadays. It can't be from people who were there at the time, it has to be from fringe fans or newer fans looking back. I'm not going to defend the last year or 2 of WCW but WCW was SO good that when they went downhill it made me care less about wrestling. Late 90's WCW, despite its bad years, is the pinnacle of wrestling for me. WWF on both ends of the 98 Rumble was up there, but WWE's product went to crap shortly after also. I don't think of 1999 and 2000 as being good years in either company from a product standpoint. I realize WWE did big business in 99 but I thought that shit was terrible. By the time Owen died I was not watching anymore except sporadically as background noise. WWE had just as big of a hand in ruining the big Wrestling boom as the WCW everyone loves to blame. Hell, from what I've seen merging the 2 made for some pretty crappy TV.
No one factor killed WCW. As with just about everything, multifactor analysis is needed while people tend to want to boil such outcomes down to just one thing. Yes, the corporate mismanagement was a huge factor in WCW’s demise, but crap like Hogan not wanting to lose to Sting clean (and Bischoff being too far up Hogan’s ass to push back on that) at Starrcade, The Fingerpoke of Doom, announcing Foley was going to win the WWE title, misusing Bret, and putting the belt on Arquette and Russo ALL did damage to the brand that previously was beating WWE. Maybe if those booking decisions didn’t happen, someone who did give a shit about wrestling would have picked up WCW where the corporate cunts with Time Warner, Turner Broadcasting, etc. didn’t want to. 🤷♂️

Nash was bad at booking too but he gets a pass because he was a wrestler just looking out for himself, Russo was just an idiot doing anything to get views.
Big kev. I love ya. But you forgot they put the strap on David arquette?? Come on man. 🤣👋
I dont like Kevins response, its still pass the buck, yes corporate sucked but they didnt do anything good in the show those last 3 yrs. And to think Russo didnt look like a moron in EP 3 is iust because they're friends
Nice 👍
