I went through my childhood jewelry when I was home for the holidays when I was about 20 years old. At the time my mom said she would take the jewelry and resell or donate it for me. Fast forward to this Christmas--25 years later--she brings it across the country to surprise me with it. I now have to make all of those difficult emotional decisions all over again. My jewelry area is a mess and I don't want to put myself through it all over again. MOM!

Oh no! It was probably difficult enough the first time! Well hopefully there'll be a couple of items in there that you'll be glad you get to keep after all!

Everytime you make one of these videos I feel like we're the same person 😂 I also did jewellery and accessories a few weeks ago and found it tough especially with the sentimental things - friendship bracelets, mouldy leather bracelets, tiny glitter hair grips, rubber bracelets etc all from the 90s. I even had a purse the same as the one with the rubber bands in that my Mam got me in about 1989! Also the screws, random things that might be important, and yes, the gem stones from a school trip about 25 years ago 😂 I mostly got rid of loads of boxes jewellery comes in but feel a bit guilty about that too as they're good quality and I feel like they should be reused. I needed to pair down something though so that felt like a good thing to let go of.
I think you did really well. With jewellery especially, being more organised with it instead of just getting rid of it all seems like a sensible thing to do in my mind. It doesn't take up much space, it's filled with memories and if it's in a place you can see and use the things you want to use or organised in little sentimental boxes then why get rid of it just for the sake of decluttering? I know this was filmed a while ago but I really like the eclectic mismatched boxes and feel like getting matching ikea storage almost takes away from the story of it all, if that makes sense?
I also did exactly the same as you and moved a load of my 'get rid' pile to my craft boxes because they were pretty and who knows when you're going to need some random beads or a charm for a craft project 😂 hashtag hoarder ;)

That is SO funny! Yes I agree - I decided jewellery doesn't take up a lot of space, and it's the sort of thing I will regret the most in the future if I throw things away. These are items that cannot be replaced and hold so many memories. It is nice to have it all organised now though - and yes, I haven't gone and replaced all the mismatched storage with something from Ikea!
Craft boxes are very useful for moving broken things to aren't they?!! It's just so pretty! It can't go in the bin!!

Oh Helen what will it be like in 10/15 years time if you don’t throw out and you’re still bringing in. You won’t be able to move in your own home..you really do need to start getting rid on a regular basis..x

I know the feeling, I also had a declutter moment in January this year, with old jewelry and really had to look at every piece and ask myself, would I ever wear this? and that really made it easy for me to through out a lot that I really don't need anymore
The green little crystal earing looks a bit like green aventurine, I love that crystal, it’s the heart healer, it’s a powerful protector crystal and it attracts abundance and joy.. you have so many magical things, love it!

Thank you for the tip! I know I have more jewellery and bits and bobs that realistically could go!
And thank you for telling me about the aventurine - that definitely sounds like something I should keep hold of!

I'm thinking about saving a lot of it and making a decorative bohemian type wall hanging out of them. I'm just not sure how to do it, when I'll do it, and if it will just be a dust collector.

Don't let the mere matter of dust get in the way of your creativity! So what if it collects dust? By the sounds of it you've got a great idea and I expect you'll have a brilliant time making an amazing wall hanging. Go for it!
