Just fantastic some lovely dace , I can pay you no higher compliment about the way you put these videos together than to say its like fishing sat next to you you .Thanks for doing what you do .👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
No better way to unwind after a long working week than watching a new upload of The magic of fishing. What a lovely stretch of water, it’s not always about the fish that get caught on a session, but being out in nature taking in the picturesque surroundings that takes presidence. Some lovely Dace there John along with some superb B roll and drone footage. I’ve somehow managed to polish off a bottle of wine whilst watching that. Keep up the great work John and tight lines. 🎣🎣🎣
Ahhh brilliant, that just made me and Rachel laugh out loud while having a lazy morning in bed 😄😴 Probably because we also managed to finish a bottle of wine last night. Topped off by a single malt in my case. And you might have helped convince me to get my arse in gear and at least have a quick dabble somewhere today… But that is a big MIGHT because I can hear the wind still howling outside and the rain against the window 😬
@ get yourself down the river John, I’ve found fishing to be productive in the aftermath of storms caught some clonking Chub on Dairy Lea triangles of all baits I could of used !!
Give John a stick a brick and some Baling Twine and i recon he would still catch.! Let alone filming the B-roll and the fishing. Even winter can't stop him. What a "Star" or ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐'s to be more accurate..🤜💥🤛 Great work again Sir and thank you for your dedication..🙏😊
Thanks my friend 🙏 Another warm and welcome comment to brighten up a stormy December weekend when I’ve again not managed to make it to the waterside. If I can fish then I don’t mind fishing in winter too much, but it’s the fact it’s so much harder to go fishing at this time of the year that’s the problem! Might be another dose of summer memories next Friday. Cheers for now 🍻
Thanks again John, it’s always a treat to watch your adventures on the bank and once again some lovely scenery and a few nice dace to warm the cockles for you. It’s a really nice river and on its day I’m sure it will give up some great sport. 🎣
Thanks Graham! Yes, I left feeling it could well fish better on another day and I was amazed how I kept catching single fish without finding the shoal. It was lovely scenery and a bit of exercise though, so no complaints from me and it’s now added to my mile long list of places I’ve tried once and should try to fish again at a different time of year, or with different conditions, having got a first taste… 🎣🐟
A very enjoyable video. So what if the fish are all small. If you enjoyed being there then that's what counts 😊 I love fishing small rivers like this around ringwood romsey and the new forest. I regularly catch pike perch roach dace gudgeon brown trout. Biggest pike 6lb and Biggest silver 1lb but its great enjoyment and as many anglers are either too old or worse too lazy to walk I get it all to myself. I have found two rods is best. One on a little maggot feeder with worms or maggots on the hook and a trotting rod like you with bread or maggot. Maggot always comes up trumps and usually one rod will be much more successful than the other depending on conditions. Thank you for this. I enjoyed it very much hence the essay reply
That’s brilliant to hear and the essay is most welcome 🤗 Have you seen my other video about fishing down your way not so long ago? Here it is just in case - ua-cam.com/video/GwVHEQClevc/v-deo.htmlsi=GGyjCQJLk9vAPv7G. The fishing you describe sounds amazing and I agree that one of the best things about the boom in commercial fisheries is that some of our rivers have never been so quiet in terms of anglers. All the better for those of us who still enjoy a bit of roving and running water. Anyway, there are plenty more vids on the channel and ignore me if you’ve already seen them! Here’s to a merry Christmas and a fish filled new year! 🎣🐟
@@themagicoffishing thanks for the link to the chalk stream video. Will have a look later 👍 I enjoy variety in my angling. Roving rivers in winter for pike and your style. Gravel pit bream and tench in spring. Commercial carp sea fishing or ireland in summer. You inspired a friend of mine to fish the bridge pool in Christchurch and he caught some whopping dace there. Thanks for the link and merry Christmas
Hi John I love your videos. One of my favourite types of fishing. I fish a small stretch of the river stour in Suffolk a village which I grew up in and have memories of fishing when I was a child. I trot the same way as it's various depths a lofa float with an olivet. Great fun sliding down the banks with waders on with a 7 foot rod to beached areas opposite deeper bends not bad for a 64 year old with new knees and ankle reconstruction. There's good dace, roach and the chub are coming on too up to a pound great for a small river. Perch are coming on too. Keep up the content not all fishing is for carp. Richard
That sounds amazing fishing! Nice work after the ops as you say and long may it continue. This kind of fishing makes you feel like a kid again. It’s funny you mention waders and a 7ft rod… I was wondering whether I should have taken my waders that day but it’s a long walk from the car and I didn’t know the river, so it was a maybe at best. And with my last two river sessions being on small, tight and overgrown rivers, I’ve also been wondering about investing in a short rod. Maybe a 10 or 11ft number. We will see… Thanks for a great comment.
A good first visit with quality Dace. The magic of a new stretch of river and it's response to some simple trotting tactics,as pure as it gets. Every swim seemed to scream fish but roving paid off. Love these more traditional vlogs. Stay safe and thanks
They looked so good, I know! Hard to tell if it was all the rain or the cold temperatures overnight that made things tricky, but the fishing was tougher than the look of those swims suggested it might be! One local angler has left a comment saying it can be a tricky stretch too. But I really enjoyed it as you can tell 😀
Hello John, lovely video, lovely colours, i was going tomorrow, but once again storm cameing grrr always so calming, wonderful place, must get out soon, tight lines, always mate.
Hi, lovely video - first time I've seen one of your films and great stuff! I'm a local fisherman - live in Chertsey so close to you! I'll be subscribing and looking forward to more good films. Happy Christmas!!!
That’s grand to hear! Where have you been hiding?? Welcome to the club and I hope you enjoy some of the other videos on the channel. There is plenty of stuff filmed around the local area. Thanks for the subscription and I look forward to more comments in the future. Happy Christmas indeed 🍻
Some nice dace there John and like you ime sure there will be some chub hiding under the overhanging trees and under them banks eh mate, that small pond looked very tempting hehe, lovely surroundings again John ,tite lines for your next trip wherever,
Cracking little river and those were some clonking Dace John!! Thanks for sharing and seeing different areas of this countries riverside banks ! Cheers Paul.
Nice one John! Some clonkin Dace and an always welcome Gudgeon! I was slightly shocked by the fact you were out before light! Most unlike you... 😂 ❤🎣❤️
Completely agree, mate 😁😆😴 The days are so short now though and, as you know, it’s not easy fishing AND filming! Not sure I will get out at all tomorrow as the rivers will be shot with all the rain and I’m out quite late tonight! Maybe a couple of hours on Cobbetts with a lure rod or some worms but the forecast doesn’t look pleasant… 😬
Hi John Nice little river, with some lovely dace. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I'm always look forward forward to watching your sessions. If we don't see any more before Christmas, I like to wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and great fishing for the new year. Pete
Ah, thanks Pete! Very nice of you to say. However, I can promise you at least two more before the big day, possibly even three. And one of them is a beauty (I think). Something I’ve been saving up my sleeve… But, yes, have a very festive month before we get to Christmas Eve 🎅🏽
Superb Dace John, I'd be beaming catching those & what a place to spend a day. Winter skies are always dramatic it's worth getting up & out early just to witness it unfold. I've been on the Wey navigation at Byfleet & had some lovely Perch, gotta luv a stripey. 🐟🪱🎣😎
Oh mate, you KNOW I love a stripey! Nice work 👏 Not sure I’ll get out this weekend with the storm coming and such short days but we will see… Thanks for another top comment and best of British against the Blades! WAWAW
Sunday is the calm after the storm, might try the navvi again. Apollo angling mentioned the stretch by the White Hart in New Haw👍 Like many other Baggies, I'm a bit dismayed with our manager. Good luck to the Owls against the team we should've caned last week. All the best mate☺️
Lovely session John and another great video 👍no chance of river fishing this weekend for us ☔️so probably do some lure fishing for perch on the canal.Half way through your book now and really enjoying it.
Well done for getting up early and onto the bank on a very cold day. Although I fish exclusively for barbel it is always enjoyable to watch videos about fishing for other species. I have not fished since the middle of October but I do have a week down the Wye in March to look forward to.
Yes, it’s looking like a biggie isn’t it mate?! I was even wondering about trying to get back to Collingham, as the Trent can take the water and will be well up, but then I remembered we’ve got a long standing night out in London on the Saturday and I’ll be lucky if I make it anywhere this weekend!
Unfortunately that is a particular barren stretch of the river which despite looking vert fishy has never really produced. I don't know why FAS keep it within their portfolio but it is always nice to go and try somewhere different.
Very much so - can’t beat trying somewhere new (as much as I love getting to know a place intimately as well). The scenery made up for the tricky fishing and it’s good to know that it’s not just me who can struggle on there a bit. The club has such amazing variety and I can’t believe I’m only about halfway through all the waters in the book?! 🤯
There is a small Farnham Angling car park a few hundred yards from the river - and you need a club key to open the gate. Directions are in the club permit book.
Just fantastic some lovely dace , I can pay you no higher compliment about the way you put these videos together than to say its like fishing sat next to you you .Thanks for doing what you do .👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣
I’ll take that compliment all day long - really appreciated and just put a smile on my face as a finish a long work day at the desk 😊👍
Thanks John, another fantastic video with some stunning views and equally stunning Dace. 👏🏻
Thanks for saying so - much appreciated! 👍🎣🐟
Once again, a very nice video where I can be on the bank (in the comfort of my armchair) on a miserable winters day. Great!
Thanks as always, John, glad you’ve enjoyed 👍🎣

Yep, I might need to give that a go late in the season or sometime next year 👍🎣🐟

Looked a gorgeous day to be out on the bank. Enjoyed this John thank you!
Thanks fella - I really enjoyed it despite the relatively slow fishing 👍🎣🐟
Loving your blog 😊
Loving your comment 💙
Well done John, another lovely video and what a lovely way to spend a crisp winter’s day
Another lovely comment 🙏👍🎣

Some cracking dace lovely scenery
Thanks Gary - appreciated as always 💙
Thats another enjoyable video, roll on the summer 😊
It feels a long way off 😄👍
Lovely stretch of river, have had chub to 3.8 there, plus silvers, just got to keep moving.
I would have loved a chub like that! But was happy with my first trip 😀 Nice to hear from someone else who knows it 👍
Nice one John! Some clonkin Dace and an always welcome Gudgeon!

Nice little day out that mate. Thames is dropping but This weekends storm will no doubt screw it up again.

Nice dace, I think I prefer them to roach. If there has been a sudden change in the weather, it can put the fish off a bit for a day or so.
Yeah, they are fickle alright. Thanks so much for commenting as always 🙏
