She played in some of the world’s most renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the BR Symphony Orchestra, and is currently the principal bass of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and faculty at the Queensland Conservatorium.
In this episode she talks to Dominik Wagner about different double bass and orchestra traditions as well as her views on the bass as a solo instrument.
Yes ! So great to see you two connect on this!
❤❤❤
It's fantastic to see two of my favorite bassists have this talk show! You are amazing!
This was such a great interview. You encouraged me to play Misek in the future haha
I really enjoyed listening two of my favorites 😎
Colab of the ages!
What a great session! Thanks for this it made my inner bass geek very happy! 🙂
They were doing SOLAR recitals!?
They were singing 'You are my sunshine'?
String virtuoso
40:07 onwards -- wonder why Alex kept looking when all he can see is the back of the bass and Phoebe bent over
he's watching for slight visual cues of her phrasing. do you play with other musicians live? it's so easy to see when someone's about to hit the downbeat based on their body
@@RyanonBasss i don't play at all :-) thanks for the explanation!
Really great interview. But can I ask, what is 'playing late'? I am a music fan but not a musician.
Many orchestras(especially German ones) play way behind the beat..... in my experience it has to do with the orchestra's sound concept. My own orchestra plays way behind the beat, and I subtituted in another orchestra that played right spot on the beat. It was a real shock and took me almost the whole rehearsal to get with the pulse....
@@vincentellin3821 thankyou, this is fascinating and I never would have known!
