Over the last year I’ve watched so many videos about the 370z....so I finally bought one. 4 weeks in and I haven’t stopped smiling. I have a 2017 GT in white. Never owned a sports car before and thought if I don’t do it now I never will. Last 3 years been driving an automatic so getting used to the gears again. The bit of road noise doesn’t bother me,feel more connected. Unlikely I’d ever see 0 _ 60 in 5.3 seconds as you’d have to be pretty slick with the gear changes. Currently getting around 30 to the gallon. Sticks to the road like sh~t to a blanket. Am I happy? God yes
Phil Nicholls Only 20,000 ! That’s amazingly good. I had to cash in a pension early to afford mine. Haven’t even thought about how much a tyre will cost. I’ll worry about that later. Hope you’re having a great time with it. All the best.

Not from Americans who are genuine car enthusiasts. The car hobby here in America has been infiltrated by posers who only talk about horsepower and nothing else.
+dflet03 I wouldn't say the 370Z gets a 'lot of crap' in the US, but while it offers a GREAT bang-for-the-buck vs. almost any other sports car, the interior is a bit dated vs. other sports cars. That said, it still is a LOT of fun to drive, and it's refined enough to be a great daily car.
Yes all about horsepower here. I went from a 2015 mustang gt with 435 hp to a 2010 Miata and was way happy. Bust thru 1st and 2nd gear in the mustang and over the speed limit. Was just an exercise in restraint. The Miata was always fun. Thinking about a z car next. Maybe a good middle ground. Otherwise a new MX5 rf with a supercharger.
I just finished breaking in my 2019 370Z sport coupe with 6-speed manual transmission and so I decided to take it for some spirited driving in the hills north of San Francisco in Marin County. The car handled like a dream, thanks in part to those great 19" Bridgestone Potenza tires. The steering was very precise and predictable with minimal body roll as I powered through twisty S-turns and abrupt changes in road camber that didn't unsettle the suspension. I found out that the suspension is set-up with a slight understeer, probably for safety reasons, and so I might go with a set of stiffer anti-roll bars that are adjustable so that I can dial in neutral to a slight oversteer. The engine has gobs of torque that isn't peaky, as you often find in high-performance engines, which is probably due to Nissan's VVEL technology. It's hard to lug this engine in too high of a gear because the torque curve is nearly flat across the RPM range, coming on strong just above idle.
@@carlosandleon Since I planned to keep this car for a long time, I wanted to have the peace of mind that all of the maintenance had been done to my high spec.
Update on my car: The car is still running fine with no problems whatsoever. I installed a set of stiffer Hotchkis anti-roll bars that improved the handling and quickened up the turn in. Stainless steel braided brake lines with Teflon cores have firmed up the brake pedal. I put on a Stillen gen 3 long tube cold air intake, a Fast Intentions x-pipe cat back exhaust and an Ecutek dyno tune. I picked up about 50 peak hp at the crank with about a 15% uniform gain in torque across the rev range. I have put a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2(240) tires and the handling is great. I am currently having a set of forged magnesium wheels made for the car that should arrive in about 6 weeks and that should improve handling and performance even more. BTW: the car sounds fantastic with the new exhaust, not too loud but with a strong and deep growl when I accelerate.
I’ve had mine about 6 weeks now, bought it for my 30th. Grey GT spec manual. Absolutely adore it. Even if the lack of refinement can be a bit wearing when you’ve had a long shift and just want to get home. But then on a day off, it is the sort of car that’ll get you out of bed just to go for a play.
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL SO MUCH been getting great Z content as an original 350z HR owner and now a 370Z owner i agree with your opinions and im really loving how much your channel seems to be growing with this great nissan content
How is the 370z vs HR 350 in your opinion ? I'm an HR 350 owner as well wondering if it's worth the trouble and money to upgrade. I'd have to part out as mine as it's heavily modified on suspension, brakes and driveline.
@@tsr75th The HR version of the VQ is without a doubt beautiful, but the VHR 370z motor i will say has more power up top, but the torque pull is quite similar so you wont feel like you are going incredibly faster but its noticeably quicker... What i will say FOR SURE, is that the handling from the factory vs factory handling of the 350z IS MASSIVELY improved. With a good set of tires my 350z HR could handle well, but it didnt handle great, the 370z with the same tire formula is able to take the same turns at a much faster rate of speed while maintaining its predictability so it isnt so scary. The 350z is still a beautiful car though, if you can get a 370z for a great deal i say its worth it, but if you have to save every penny just to scrape by on it id say just hold on a little longer youll miss your 350z
One advantage of the 350z is if you're willing to put it a bit of cash, it handles better imo. I own a modified 350z, with upgraded suspension, breaks and some aerodynamics (stock HR engine), and a stock 370z. In total the 350z cost less, but it performs much better all in all. Haven't got around to building the 370z because frankly, the 350z is better when built for less than a stock 370z
People complain too much about the 370z without realizing it was made in 2009 and can still whoop a lotta ass today. If you can drive or have the 7AT, you can keep up with a lot of modern V8s. Also it offers amazing handling or raw fun that most cars dont. Plus, with the proper NA stock block mods you can hit 330-370whp (yes its been done with the proper mods n tuner several times).... or for fairly cheap now (5-12k) you can single or twin turbo and push up to 700whp reliably with Z1, Admin, or RZG tuning.
Base 370 are terrible on the track. The brz has much better chassis. In terms of Street driving the z is better. But on the track, base 370z struggle with cooling , only has an open diff. (Even the vlsd on the sport package is lame). If you drive 2016+ Camaro ss with 370z back to back on the track you will realize that the z doesn’t handle as well as a muscle car.
Great Video as always... I can't really tell why but I do like the 350z more based on how it looks. But I am sure you are right it drives more refined. The sound of the engine was pretty good in the video! Greetings from Bavaria
As a previous owner of a 350 and current owner of a 370, that part about the exhaust note hit me. The 350 sounded AMAZING. I put an intake on my 370 and it helps a bit but I don't know why Nissan couldn't match that 350z sound. One of the best sounding cars ever.
As a former owner (yesterday) of a 350z I must say that the sound of the engine is truly incredible. I put a scorpion exhaust on that was just the perfect balance of sound (volume and quality) aswell as practicality on motorways.
@@itchyonion3559 Just get a good cat back exhaust for the Z and it will sound great. I got a Fast Intentions x-pipe cat back on my 370z and it sounds terrific.
A 370Z as an alternative to a 124 or an MX-5? Not too sure about that one. Yes.. they're all RWD, but while the Mazda/Fiat and Toyota/Subaru *are* close to each other in price, the Nissan is more like an Audi TTS-, BMW Z4- or, indeed, Cayman-competitor, IMO. I mean, there is a reason why it has way more power than any of the cheaper cars you mention and it has a 6 cylinder engine. We're talking an additional 1.7 litres of displacement and a power-advantage of well over 100hp/PS. BTW: To me, the engine note sounded pretty good on the video. I wonder if I'd still see it that way if I heard it in real life... :)
I have toasted alot of people. Intake and exhaust upgrades really wake the car up. Honestly, the car gets to be very loud. Also, no maintenance issues. I have a 17 sport, worth the money over the base and better value than the nismo.
You can spend a lot more (if you have), but this beauty will out-trump anything on the road. I purchased it new and so far 329 miles have given me more smiles than anything I have owned during the last 4 decades.
Just over 30K for a base 370Z in the US, it's not perfect but the most performance for the money. If you want a car for driving fun and not electronic toys you won't go wrong. I love mine!
When @5.35 you say there is no digital speedo i been racking my brains about when i use to use a 350Z before my 370Z and i cant think where it had a digital speedo. The LED lights for fuel i was less of a fan of over a gauge, but oil temp in 370 was better than oil pressure in 350
That’s a nice looking car and sounds sweet as! My TTs mk2 is 333BHP 450NM Yes! It’s on a REVO stage 1 The new 370Z does sound beautiful mate 🏁🍻👍 The 370Z Definitely has better breaks than mine in the process of upgrading them.Great video buddy 👍
I own a 350z 280ps and this exact question of what as the 370z improved over the 350z , as crossed my mind a few times. I do agree with you dayling my 350z is mix of a pleasure and a pain cause the car is very "manly" to drive ... but thats is interest for me ... the old style of a sports car for the petrolheads After watching your aproach to the subject ... I'm keeping my 350z for now Thanks for the great content as always
Having owned 2 350z's and a 370z, I agree with a lot of your points. I don't agree about the controls in the 370z being lighter. The steering weight and feel is very similar to the 350. The transmission is the exact same that the 350z has. The shifter feels identical, because it is. The clutch is more or less the same.
350Z standard has 245mm section tyres at the back where the 370Z has 275mm section. I don't think the moderate power increse needs that big a jump in rubber but still fun to slide
The 370 looks much better than the 350 and I’d consider buying one if it was turbo charged. I don’t like NA engines and tuning them is hard plus 320bhp isn’t enough if it had 400bhp them it would be great.
$20,000 to do it correctly. Fast Intentions Twin Turbo kit = $10,000. Then you're going to need it installed and tuned = $1500-$2500. Then you're going to need a better clutch = $1500 Then you're going to need a real/actual OIL cooler (not the garbage stock pos nissan put on there) = $400-$600. Then you're going to need Better tires = $1300. + $5,000 if you bought the automatic 7-speed, as that will need to be sent to Level 10 for a rebuild/upgrade of the torque converter/valvebody/clutch packs. So it's a $15-$20k investment, but will anniliate a lot of vehicles once done and done properly (which, sadly, few people actually do it correctly the first time, and they think they can "save money" by going with the stupid supercharger kit from Stillen = horrible disappointment). Honestly the best thing you can do if you really want to spend a lot less: Change the rear differential to a wavetrac and go for a shorter final drive (Z1 motorsports custom builds these, there is no substitute or shortcut). Tune / tires / alignment / exhaust. Enjoy it until Nissan comes out with the turbo version in 1 year - who knows how long!
Agreed. The MX-5 RF will be much more fun to drive within legal speed limits compared to the 370z - especially the 2019 version with the updated 181hp engine revving to 7500rpm
@@joetaka7620 That MX-5 weighing at least 400kg less than the 370z, definitely. Saving money on the consumables e.g. tyres, fuel etc. Lower seating position too.
@@rzezniqq I think it's probably more fun to drive if you drive like Chris Harris. I think the rest of us will probably get more out of the z more of the time.
Nice one! There's few cars of reasonable cost with nice engines. This is definitely one of them. Cheapest V6 in the market? Shame about the sound - overall it sounds smooth as a v6 but needs a bit more raspi-ness and immediacy - seems to rev up and down slowly [possibly a heavy flywheel and tamed mapping]. And noise over speakers is just a big no-no. Looks to have a huge potential re: the drivetrain but seems to have been softened up quite a bit because of emissions, etc.
Good video. I really like the way the 370z looks (long bonnet, short overhangs never get old) but the synthetic sound you hear from the inside ruins it for me as well as its 300kg+ weight over the 86/BRZ/MX-5. Even the 2019 MX-5 has a more adjustable steering wheel compared to the 370z. I know its best not to always judge a car by seeing just one journalist's video but Chris Harris made some really good points when comparing the 370z to the GT86 on THE DRIVE youtube channel. He described the 370z as 'a big plate of not very good food' and the 86 as 'a small plate of expertly prepared flavours' when driven on narrow+twisty roads. The 2019 MX-5 RF with its updated 181hp 7500rpm engine+LSD (and aftermarket BBR GTI super 200 power kit) appeals to me more than the 370z because it really teaches novice drivers about RWD handling dynamics, without having to risk your license and spend much on fuel consumption+tyre wear etc compared to the 370z. I prefer it over the 86/BRZ because it feels more urgent to accelerate than those cars. Keep up the great work.
@Zombie Head Nice. I like the pronounced 'hip-line' that E82 coupes have, reminiscent of the 1602/2002 coupes and I suppose your car was one of the last BMWs with a naturally aspirated straight 6. I heard the N52 was one of the lightest straight 6s out there with its aluminium block too. I personally wasn't a fan of the MX-5 until I saw a POV video by TheTopher and a full review by Savagegeese + The Straight Pipes.
@Zombie Head Ah my bad - definitely magnesium block indeed! I'm glad the N52 is serving you well with little issues compared to the more popular N54/N55! Have fun with your car :)
@Zombie Head Oh I see, I guess the issues which come with N54/N55 are from inexperienced owners who don't look into preventative maintenance mods, then scaremonger in the forums about their careless mistakes. Perhaps its human nature that we tend to draw our eyes on really negative things (which happen rarely) rather than the positive things! Would be nice to see more N52 conversions on lightweight RWD cars.
Yeah I can hear the difference in that pumped in cabin fake sound in the video as I drive a completely stock z34 6speed 14 model. Hopefully that's something you can turn off easily in these newer models.
Sold my 370z a couple of years ago. Started looking recently for something different but I can’t find anything in my budget that the 370z can give, in particularly power
How do you compare the 350z/370z vs Boxster? Which do you think you would prefer in my area: curvy twisty foot hills/mountain roads? I love my z3s and Boxster on twisty roads here. Would the 370z feel heavy in comparison?
I had a 986 Boxster and the Z cars are much faster and only slightly heavier. A modern Boxster is probably much better but is so much more money. I prefer the 350Z to the 986.
I had a mark 2 Nismo in white. ppl saying e92. The e92 is thirstier on petrol, has rod issues and transmission software issues. Not to mention the numerous amount of sensors that can throw up error codes anytime. Its also very common now its within range. Im getting another nismo once I purchased the house! I still got my exhaust from last time...the Z feels more special than any of the germans which you see everywhere. Kids love it and point, ppl comment on it.
Blade ManX you don’t think your car can have issues? I’ve had my e92 m3 for a year and a half no problems. Yes I changed my rod bearings but when you are rocking a motorsport engine that revs as high as it does with 10w60 oil with tight tolerances things do wear.i changed mine as preventative maintenance but they were actually ok. You sound not very educated on e92 M3’s,no matter who made what car there are always issues that slip through production and problems after it’s built...it’s a car! I doubt the 350/370 is great on fuel but I agree the m3 is bad but then who cares when your round at nearly 8,500rpm living the dream lol. Disagree with it being more special,it’s just a run of the mill engine nothing special about it.they look ott and like it’s crashed into Halfords but over all it’s a nice car. Everyone comments on my m3,e92’s are not everywhere new m3/4’s are everywhere mind. The newer m cars arnt quite as good imo.
Interestingly enough, the fiat has the excellent 1.4 turbo, which can manage up to about 400hp on stock internals. All you need is a slightly bigger turbo.
Excellent review. You hit the nail on the head describing the 350z as brutish. lol. I guess thats why I kept this car so long. Whats next for the 350z?
I love and hate my z34 2013. The worsr alignment issues, i had to upgrade to a rear camber kit / toe arm / traction arm / i upgraded the suspension too. Even with all that i still enjoyed the car. When i hit 50k the csc went out, and that was a arm and a leg for a zpeed delete kit + labor. I hit 55k now and im losing speed like its bogging down. Straight out of the dealership, this has been the wost car ive ever owned
Do they not sell aftermarket seats in Europe or something? Most everything I hated about my 350Z I just switched out and replaced. Can they not do this in Europe?

You hit the nail on the head there whats the point in power if you carnt use it properly due to handling. @Pars Kick Yeah, I grew up with hondas and they had very sparse interiors but its what made them light and fun to drive. Look at honda now, Overly insulated, claustrophobic shit boxes looking like its designer won the halfords lottery. Not a step forward at all.
Technically yeah it is, it offers more room than the 370 even though the 370 has 132 more horsepower. The 370Z is also something like 500 pounds heavier and the GT86 will get better gas mileage too.
Could I please make a suggestion. Hope out of the 370Z and straight into the V8 Mustang. Huge power increase. Beautiful sound. Digital display. Oh yes beautiful pony.
370Z is hella old now though and would be left for dead by all of the current gen hyper hatches and would be mad to ignore the alternatives unless you really really wanted a coupe. In which case I’d have an 18mth old BMW M2 instead
The 370Z is old in the sense that a 911 is old, a design in which form follows function where there was no need to make drastic changes over the years. I have owned a Porsche and have just bought a 2019 370Z sport coupe with the 6-speed manual transmission and I can say that there is an almost indefinable feeling of closeness with the machine when you sit inside them. They are not cars that were compromised in order to appeal to as large a market as possible, but to excel in a small area of performance that are very important to certain drivers. The person who would prefer a BMW M2 is not the kind of driver this car or a Porsche are targeted towards. If money were no object I would have gotten a Porsche Cayman S, but in terms of value the Z is very hard to match. As old as this car is it still turns heads frequently where ever I park it.
Not compromised? Dude it has a big heavy large capacity engine that doesn’t want to rev up, doesn’t reward from revving either as is tuneless at top end, or is particularly powerful considering the almost 4L displacement. That sounds like a big compromise to me. Comparing to a Porsche is an insult to Ferdinand. Porsches evolve year in year out to give the best driving experience even if the appearance looks mostly the same. I’m glad you enjoy your car but please don’t be deluded to believe you have a budget 911 or that there isn’t much better cars available for the price. BTW have you seen all the rave reviews for the M2? It’s an absolute peach of a drivers car. Forced induction is the future and no doubt a 370Z replacement will be turbo’d which will only reinforce the fact that the existing big heavy N/A engine is old and past it.
The interior appears hideous with cheap looking plastic and that screen is about the worst that I have seen. The fake sound is the final nail in the coffin yet the engine sounds like a large food blender. The exterior is faultlessly beautiful.
I own a 2019 370Z sport coupe with the 6-speed manual transmission in black with a black cloth interior. The interior looks nice and I have gotten compliments from people who have seen it up close. If I open up the throttle above 3K RPM there is a noticeable roar from the engine, but it's not objectionable. Because the engine produces so much torque and that it's nearly flat over a very wide RPM range there is no need to rev it high to get strong acceleration, as it pulls hard in any gear if asked to do so.
Over the last year I’ve watched so many videos about the 370z....so I finally bought one. 4 weeks in and I haven’t stopped smiling. I have a 2017 GT in white.
Thanks Tyler!
Exhaust + Tires + Front Swaybar = a BILLION times better 370z.
Putting Hotchkis anti-roll bars on the front and rear made an improvement in handling on my car.
Nice to watch a review by someone who actually understands the car.
I am a 370z owner I feel like “upgrading” to a 350z because it sounds better, lol
"A new place for your shopping to hit you from" Love the car and love the review , Cheers
Thanks Shawn.
Good point. The 370Z is much cheaper than the Audi, Z4 and Cayman though. Yeah, need to hear the engine note in real life.
@@RoadandRacetv G37 Coupe all the way
@@RoadandRacetv Yes comparison is on price.. Great review.
The engine noise is duplicated by speakers - drove 370z NISMO - car dosn't sound at all from the outside. Inside it sounds like it's straight piped.
Great review Neil, you looked like you really enjoyed the drive 👍
I have toasted alot of people. Intake and exhaust upgrades really wake the car up. Honestly, the car gets to be very loud. Also, no maintenance issues. I have a 17 sport, worth the money over the base and better value than the nismo.
New to the channel been through the 350z videos thanks for all of the advice I'm off out to buy one
Nice. Let me know which one you get!
through the comps speakers (sony x11) the 370 sounds amazing like one of the best cars ive heard through my laptop
Getting rid of the digital speedo is the sole reason I can't upgrade from my 350. Another great video though, mate! Looking forwards to the next one.
Thanks Squire. Sontrange why they removed it!
Funny to see you here
You can spend a lot more (if you have), but this beauty will out-trump anything on the road. I purchased it new and so far 329 miles have given me more smiles than anything I have owned during the last 4 decades.
Its the oem exhaust, pop a tomei or motordyne and it screams, no more whining.
Loved the video, subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
Just over 30K for a base 370Z in the US, it's not perfect but the most performance for the money. If you want a car for driving fun and not electronic toys you won't go wrong. I love mine!
First video I’ve seen of this channel. You have a great way of reviewing and talking. Keep it up and I’m looking forward to more content from you!
Big thanks Joel!
You guys get alcotarra interior? I don’t think we get that here in the states.
Glad you say ZED and not zee 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
When @5.35 you say there is no digital speedo i been racking my brains about when i use to use a 350Z before my 370Z and i cant think where it had a digital speedo. The LED lights for fuel i was less of a fan of over a gauge, but oil temp in 370 was better than oil pressure in 350
You could switch the gauges over I think from the clock?
What is the point of the battery voltage in the gauges? They could’ve just added oil pressure/coolant temperature instead.
Thanks mate!
I own a 350z 280ps and this exact question of what as the 370z improved over the 350z , as crossed my mind a few times.
I do agree with you dayling my 350z is mix of a pleasure and a pain cause the car is very "manly" to drive ... but thats is interest for me ... the old style of a sports car for the petrolheads
After watching your aproach to the subject ... I'm keeping my 350z for now
Thanks for the great content as always
Having owned 2 350z's and a 370z, I agree with a lot of your points. I don't agree about the controls in the 370z being lighter. The steering weight and feel is very similar to the 350. The transmission is the exact same that the 350z has. The shifter feels identical, because it is. The clutch is more or less the same.
Buying my Z was the best money I ever spent. If it wasn't for the race brakes I would be dead.
Weird! I always thought 350 looked better.
The 370Z is a terrific analog sports car! It is not without its faults, but a very solid car, nevertheless. Kudos to Nissan! 💪
Have you driven/reviewed the competitors? If you haven't how can you say it's the best on the market?
I'm willing to go as far as to say that Gt86 will be more fun to drive too. Chris Harris tends to agree.
@@rzezniqq I think it's probably more fun to drive if you drive like Chris Harris. I think the rest of us will probably get more out of the z more of the time.
@@mrjdgibbs Maybe. Guy knows his cars though.
Thanks Pedro. Yes, you’re probably right, cheapest new V6 you can get. A better exhaust would do wonders for the noise.
If you really like the styling and if you want a fast car out of the box without going into the aftermarket, the 370z is the best choice for you.
Does the 370 still have the automatic power tilt steering wheel and seat for the driver on start up like on myInfiniti g37.
How does it compare to the E92 M3?
20k cheaper lol
Sold my 370z a couple of years ago. Started looking recently for something different but I can’t find anything in my budget that the 370z can give, in particularly power
How do you compare the 350z/370z vs Boxster? Which do you think you would prefer in my area: curvy twisty foot hills/mountain roads? I love my z3s and Boxster on twisty roads here. Would the 370z feel heavy in comparison?
I had a 986 Boxster and the Z cars are much faster and only slightly heavier. A modern Boxster is probably much better but is so much more money. I prefer the 350Z to the 986.
@@RoadandRacetv Thank you. Faster acceleration from the 350/370Z. How about on twisty roads? Or on a track? Any thoughts on handling?
Thanks mate. Big job next for the 350Z - front and rear sub frames off for rust treatment then new bushings, roll bars and coilovers.

I do not think, you can compare 370Z to M3, it is completely different category..

Yeah, people making judgements from videos.. Also at this price point it's not a Bentley smh
