Who would have ever thought watching a car journey would be so interesting ! Thoroughly enjoyed that, I would have been 8 in 1985, remember all those cars etc so well.
It was interesting & a novelty to see these on your telly at the time as well. Video cameras then were just starting to become cheaper & popular. Even then this camera still cost over £500, without the portable video recorder !
Oh the nostalgia... 1985, I was 29, newly divorced and made this same trip from Pontefract and down the M62 on a regular basis (with Pink Floyd playing in the background)
Yes, and still like all the music used on these videos, better than the music nowadays. But still prefer the radio on the day recordings, with the DJ`s, jingles & news, etc
I was 12 then cas born and bred can remember the parkside hotel across from racecourse long gone now don't mean to be rude how old are you now and still fiming?
Wiper air deflectors, vintage cars, lorries - great trip down memory lane thanks.
Probably the best video you've put up :) The M62 looks bare with less signs, road markings and trees. Many thanks.
And traffic !

I'm not from Ponte or Cass but I work just off J31, this video is great.
I was 8yrs old in 85.
Simple times...I miss it.
Nice to see the old South Yorkie Bus there opposite the park gates!
I think I passed one on every one of these videos
I used to get that from outside my house on Hardwick Road, to Whitwood Tech every day for three years. Always really friendly staff.

This really shows how much more dense traffic has got in the last 40 years. What will it be like in 40 years from now??
The entire planet will be a barron landscape if trump and crew get there way so the only congestion will be long range missiles
Immigration will boost the economy and we’ll all be using teleporters

What means speed limit end sign on the street with streetlight? Was it really national limit 60 mph on the front of school or 30mph city limit?
Park Lane was national speed limit.
Willowbridge Road 40mph near the school, then national speed limit.
13:05 white Polish Fiat 126.
Nice ride quality 😂
