thanx for the vid found the fault on my one to be the capacitor had shorted. unable to replace with similar one so i replaced it with a capacitor from a power tool. once i soldered it in no more radio interference and good to go.
I wish I could give you 1000 thumbs up for this video. You sound a lot like Ricky Nelson and that is a super compliment because he had a lovely voice.
I've got some stuck beaters in my mixmaster. Turned the handle to the right, but it stops before it goes 90° to the side.
So glad to have found your account. Thank you for the helpful content! Now for my question...
was it common for Sunbeam to mix style elements across various models during this time?
The reason that I ask is this; I have obtained a soft pink 1950's Mixmaster, it is clearly marked 'Model 11' but the front grill and handle are different from what is seen on this Model 11. The front & handle on mine look like the Model 12... with that little 'eyebrow wing' on the front. Does this make sense? I could send a photo.
Anyway, I found you on here because I'd like to clean the old girl up and use her, of course! All 10 speed-settings seem to be working great, but I'm sure it could do for a proper check-up! I'm going to start by cleaning the exterior filth though. lol.
Hope to hear back & thanks in advance!
Hi, I have a Vista. The gears look good, but the beaters turn freely. I am a repair tech but have never seen this.
I've got a Sunbeam Mixmaster 11c. I replaced the capacitor (but my multimeter doesn't test capacity), and my resistor tested in at ~150 ohms, but there's visible electricity between the pads that control the speed. It still wants to jump from 0-60 when I press on the push pin or assemble and turn the dial. I can still make it have low speed, but it's not got enough "gears" inbetween. What should I do next?
What did you use to degrease and clean the gears?
where can I buy the plastic thrust pin and skinny spring that goes under the front head screw please?
I have a vintage sunbeam mixer with juicer and the cord is rotting and I won’t use it. Do you clean, repair these mixers? I can’t find anyone that does and found you on UA-cam. Help please!
Nice video! Can you tell me where and what capacitor and resistor to get for the Model 11. Ours does the same thing. Than ks!
Thanks! You can order a new capacitor from Dave at davesrepair.com , the resistor however is a lot harder. You cant find a new one so you have to either come across someone selling a good used one, or replace it with a 180 ohm 10 watt (or 5 watt if need be) wirewound resistor. They are also getting hard to find so it may take some persistence. Good luck!
what kind of grease do you use inside of the mixer.
Does anyone know if the Model 11 uses the same motor as the Model 12? I have an 11c that was take apart at some point. The motor wires are damaged and I thought that might be an easy way to fix it. Alternatively, if anyone has a novice wiring diagram, that would be great (I have the schematic but that’s kinda confusing)
I want to fix the handle, please
We recently acquired a Sunbeam Mixmaster. The release mechanism to rotate the motor/beaters backwards on the stand is not working. What next?
Hi Brian! Im not quite sure I understand which part your referring to. The motor only attaches to the stand one way, so I dont think thats what you meant?
Are you still refurbishing? May I ask what the cost was? I’m in California
Hi! Thank you for the video. I am wondering if I could send you my mixer.
Hi Chantal, thank you! Unfortunately I am no longer taking mixers for repair.
It’s very kind of
You to reply! Thank you. With the help of your videos, I got courage enough to open my mixer. I think I fixed it!!! It means so much to me. Thank you again for your video.
@@chantalarsenault4850 Awesome, nice job!!! I always tried to show in my videos that it wasnt always as overwhelming as it seemed, Im so glad you attempted it!
How do I determine if the capacitor and resistor are in good condition? What number should the read?
..also what settings did you have on your multimeter? My Sunbeam is having this exact issue. I also may need new brushes.
@@drasticshiftrdsilva Set you multimeter to a range where you can read ohms, then test the resistor, it should be around 180 ohms, give or take 10 either way. The capacitor you can check for a dead short, but if the capacitor is failed without shorting, then you will notice it in excessive arcing and running kind of rough at low RPM.
I have recently acquired my Mum’s mixer after her passing. Unfortunately the cord is brittle and falling apart. Do you know if it is possible to have the cord replaced? I am in Australia and have done an internet search, but can’t find anything ☹️
Hi Kerrie, did you fix it? I live in Australia and have just replaced the cord on my mums :)
Love your videos. But the video and audio in the background on this one are very distracting.
Date looks like 1938
Hi Charles! This machine is from the 1960's. I think they were actually produced from 1957 to 1967.
Turn your radio off
As far as I’m concerned, this is to this day one of the best mixers EVER made! If for no other reason, they were built to last! That said, I wish you would have mentioned what type of grease you would use, and what type of oil. It’s also nice to know what all the parts are used for.
Other than that, thanks for posting this. (Next time, at least turn the volume off on your racing video.)
