Your trash barrel will work for compost if you poke a bunch of holes in it, for air. You'll need to add a little water sometimes, so it doesn't dry out, and tip and roll the trash barrel around about once a week (or just dig down and turn everything). You can add leaves, torn up paper & food scraps. If the sides of the barrel feel warm, it's working!
So happy you have power back! The best thing about winds and dust is how good it feels when it stops. Thank you for mentioning water, it’s something so many of us can’t take for granted. I lost many of my plants in the last big drought here. I think these sorts of problems are something a lot of people experience, but we don’t hear about much on social media. Thank you for showing the realities. It’s so good to know we are not alone in the challenges of plant life ❤
Ebuka, the struggle is real on so many levels. My heart goes out to you having to deal with the dust due to the winds, but you keep it moving👏👏. You are correct when en ouraging us not to take water for granted. We also can take that sentiment to all areas of our lives.
Waooo😊❤, your Sanseveria Black Gold is flowering, that calls for a celebration 🎉💃🏾💃🏾, that is awsome. That's one plant I have been looking forward to mine flowering for the past 5 years. I have two huge mother inlaws tongue, can't wait to see them flower 😍
Very interesting today learning about your recent challenges. Compost needs ventilation, moisture, and a mix of "wet matter" and "dry matter". Wet is green moist plant waste and veggie stuff. Dry is paper and dried out organic matter like leaves and branches. It has been 30 years since I had a yard to compost in but there is a ratio of wet to dry that is optimal, I just don't remember what it is. 50/50 maybe? I know you will find out the info. You do not need to start with soil in your compost, generally in will make it too heavy. Peace from NJ.
Oh my goodness you are going through it right now! Here I was grumpy cause by me we haven't seen the sun in a week, now I'm like woman go to your room and shush lol. Awww your snake plant is like a flower of hope to cheer you on. The bright side in all of this die back is a explosion of growth in your future.🌻🌻🥀🌻
Hi Ebuka😌🙌💖I felt nice and cool watching you water your plants. They were so dusty. We get a yellow sand blowing into Japan from the desert in China in March. It's the dry Winter season for 4 months😱Enjoy your much needed nap😌🙏
I really appreciate you talking about this. As someone from the US, I wasn’t aware of this weather phenomenon until you mentioned it here and in other videos. Super informative and helps me be more mindful and educated. ❤
Thank you Ebuka for sharing your plant journey with us and explaining the challenges of growing plants in your climate. You're a trooper! And it's so wild to see what plants flourish no matter what!
Sorry about the plants, however I use frost cover for my plants so that I can reduce the effect of the weather. For the water issues you also need to start harvesting rain water, it's much better than tap water. Just a few tips from a fellow plant somebody lol!!! Compliments of the season. Cheers!
Thank you ! Yes I certainly harvest rain water but remember its the dry season, by supply of rain water has long finished as it hasn’t rained in a while now
Hi Ebuka so sorry about the winds but thanks for sharing all sides of plant parenting and just the fun, good stuff…. Stay strong …. I look forward to meeting you when you get to come to America… you have lots of cousins here🪴
God bless you Amigo Ebuka, thank you for showing us your circumstances and how you persevere in the name of Jesus. I was just curious and wanted to ask you if your neighbors get bothered when you water your plants due to the lack of water/electricity. I pray that God always provides for you at all times. Your compost bin needs some holes and try to keep it moist. Keep us posted with your veggie gardening. Don't stop making videos, we so much enjoy your happy disposition and beautiful plants. Dios te guarde y te bendiga Amigo, from El Paso TX. Adios!
You need to use plastic pots or containers for your vegetables. Add card board or newspaper or paper scraps in the bottom to hold moisture in. In the south of the USA I have used disposable diapers in the bottom of huge pots. They really hold moisture in. Clay pots will just wick the water away from the plants. Composting requires air and moisture also. You will need a different bin. Adding left over coffee, tea, soda and sugary drinks will feed the bacteria you need to break down the compost. Good luck. I love your videos. I like seeing plants from other places.
Love your videos, relating to your experiences. Here in the Philippines we have a tropical climate and here in the city, we have that dust problem as well. We have so many plant varieties and can grow them in normal environment. Happy planting and more vlogs to go.🌻
Paper and cardboard is good to add to the compost and a bit of moisture. Yours should break down quickly with your temperature and the lid on. Turn the compost from time to time.
I’m sorry to see this happened to your outdoor collection. How did you preserve your outdoor plants last year? Is there a semi transparent tarp you can buy to protect them from wind but they still get the sun?
What a difference!!!!!!
Oh my bestie plant icon. All the trials and tribulations. The winds are strong, but you're stronger xx
@@Beepbeep_its_treasure I certainly am ! Thanks so much

We use the same broom where I’m from as well. So nice to see it in use on my favorite plant channel 🥰 makes me relate to you more.
Thank you !!
And that dust cloud reaches us here in the Caribbean. My youngest suffers from allergies and the middle one has asthma.
You do such a great job with your plants. I look forward to your videos! Thanks for sharing and I hope you get some much needed rest! 🤩
