    Awesome compare... I think that this proves that not all things from China are crap and in fact many brand names originate from China and are quality made, I speak from experience. Thanks for sharing this great info. May just buy one myself, the Chinese model of course. Take care...

    I can understand wanting to buy a knife from a nice maker, but when its such a small fixed blade piece of steel theres not much that can fail

      The problem with buying 'nice' knives, or more accurately expensive ones are numerous, will you in all honesty have your custom knife on you and will you want to use it?, are exotic woods, bone etc as robust as simple plastic?, is your maker good with shapes but dire at temper?
      The Chinese bushcraft and prepper market is huge, it's not unusual for UA-cam videos that in the US would get a few thousand subscribers to get 100,000+
      Asian fans actually get out and use this stuff.

    Nice review of a practical knife that most probably already have. Some focus too much attention on $300 knives or new releases. Thanks

    just picked up the RSK from hennie Haynes they are on sale for £11.95. I really like it its small but easily the most solidly built small knife I have, nothing fancy and nothing to damage really. I might have to review it and start a small fire with it!

    Nice video! I stumbled upon probably the same knife on eBay for $1.25 so I ordered a few. This was just a few hours before I found this video interestingly enough. I'm eager to see how they perform. The CRKT is actually made in China as well IIRC so it's not too surprising that they're very similar. That has to be kind of vexing! I know that Doug spent a few years creating the RSK Mk 5 that was clearly the inspiration for this little blade. In fact it's a pretty close copy of the CRKT with a few details omitted probably to save money. Doug spent years creating the initial design, shopping around for a company that would produce it, doing prototypes, tweaking them and returning to the drawing board, etc before the knife was ready. Then, once it was perfected and marketed, the knockoffs began to appear.
    I don't feel bad buying the knockoffs for a couple reasons. First I've already purchased four legit Ritter RSK knives so this isn't costing CRKT a sale. Next, Doug has confirmed that the RSK Mk5 has been discontinued. He pointed out that products have a life cycle and the RSK had reached the end of its cycle. In retrospect I suppose that the many copies as well as the plethora of new designs really cut into sales of the original.
    Again, nice video! I look forward to testing them out myself.

      yeah, they are very similar indeed, I have both so I feel no guilt haha, they do / did over charge here though for the CRKT so that pushes people towards the knock offs too. Seems mini cleavers are the in thing now for neckers etc, seem impractical to me haha. Thanks for watching buddy :)

    With it being small I’m thinking crkt is short for cricket..and less of a mouthful…tidy little knives

    The CRKT sheath is way better. Where I live it is a $15 knife vrs a $3.50 knife. So if you are buying just 1 the nice sheath is worth the money. CRKT also has a good warranty. The other one probably no warranty.

    I bought my $.99 Chinese blade on the video. Is there a kydex or plastic sheath to order for it?

  • @rucksackransack
    @rucksackransack 5 років тому

    I bought 2 of the dollar knives from eBay a few months ago. Both arrived sharp enough to dry shave my arm. (Yes, I washed the blade first). Both also arrived with totally garbage vinyl sheaths. I understand that some people noted that CRKT's sheath had bad retention in the sheath. Anyone know of a source for a decent fair priced sheath for the Chinese version, let me know please.

  • @nickgent4446

    Wasn't the crkt one made in China when it was still in production?

  • @ozdavemcgee2079
    @ozdavemcgee2079 6 років тому

    Ive seen these been thinking of getting a $1 one seeing as its a minimal use blade. Id guess the CRKT one is easier to hold due to the cuts machined in handel and the striking groove is a plus. For a buck Im thinking you could risk putting a few grooves in with a hacksaw and drill the striker round in. False economy is to be avoided...but a dollar leaves 29 more for a better sleeping bag tent etc

    • @KentSurvival

      indeed, the CRKT does feel nice but for a small skinner or something, this seems fine.. I haven't actually used it since.. hoping to do a little hunting this year though!

      haha, i know what you mean, also love my cheap mora :) at the end of the day.. it is a tool. The CRKT was a little thicker and does look / feel nice but as the results showed, they performed the same.
      I've seen your videos :) i didn't realise I wasn't subscribed - I am now! and nice to meet you.

    The problem here lies not with the knives themselves, but more about supportin American made products that are thoughtout, original and also by buyin American made products you also support American workers that put hardwork into what they make and the economy which everybody should know is shitty now since the Chinese own each and everyone of you!!!! sure you can buy a cheap $1 Chinese knife vs a $100 USA knife, but you’ll be puttin money into a country that’s pollutin the planet with coal factories, say hello to more severe, extreme weather patterns(I.e. hurricanes, tsunamis, storms etc...), hotter summers and colder winters with each upcoming year, I digress, but if you have the money and can afford it you should be supportin your country, 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
