    Because I am named after this opera, Giseppe, I learned early on to appreciate it and one of the highlights of the entire opera is the grand march and the trumpets, which to this day whenever I hear them make my hair stand on end!!! I love it

    Die beste Darbietung die ich je gehört habe. Die Abstimmung der Instrumente und deren
    Harmonie zueinander ist kein zweites mal zu finden.
    Wirklich ganz, ganz grosses "Kino".

    I've never heard a more effective combination of strings, brass, woodwinds, and even the percussion was just right! Thumbs up! Giuseppe Verdi himself would applaud from his grave! Magnifico! Greetings from the United States of America!

    I heard Aida at Covent Garden, long ago, and was impressed by the trumpeter's alternating soft tonguing and staccato. A defining moment for a "punter" like me. Bravo to this recording, too!

    Apparently in some parts of the world this is a graduation theme. I can see why - this is very similar in feel to Pomp and Circumstance!

    • @glennrussellapura6403
      @glennrussellapura6403 3 роки тому +17

      Yes, here in the Philippines, ask anyone what's the tune of their graduation march and they'll hum you this tune. Elgar's pomp and circumstance is attributed more to WWF's wrestler: Macho Man Randy Savage..at lesst by my gneration when i was a kid in the 80's.

    In the Philippines they apparently play this music for graduation ceremonies. For me in the United States, it sort of reminds me of someone gaining a high office!
    Edit: in particular, the first person I think of is former president William Taft, who eventually ended up on the Supreme Court, and in fact became Chief Justice - and he said that this, not the presidency, was his greatest honor!
    Edit 2: in case you were wondering, I am fascinated by all things related to Taft.
