The nerf ain’t that bad. I’d rather the cap be added than the team play be removed. Plus the cap scales with strength so you’re gonna have at minimum 30k cap which is actually pretty good. Also you can’t act like the augment wasn’t cracked before the nerf. Usually I’d argue against nerfs but this one is fair and doesn’t ruin the augment. If anything they should increase the minimum cap so you don’t have to manage it too much.
Oh by all means it’s not bad at all, it’s just that extra fun factor is gone, which is my main issue. Plus 15k at base honestly feels a bit too low, I would have been fine with at least 20k instead tbh
Styanax was my favorite frame for a few days on release, the first nerf was heartbreaking. Chaining between groups of enemies with op and creating piles of stripped enemies was unlike anything else in the game, almost like a RTS bird's eye view of the battlefield... I would give up the augment in a split second to go back to being able to recast his 4th while using his other abilities and operator without touching the ground.
The gain speed is massively different. Iirc, kullervo pretty much get few thousands per click (iirc 4-5k even with my unoptimized build), pretty much reaching the cap in a few seconds, and bro even has 0.75s total overguard gate (?), albeit no shields. But for real though, kullervo, unlike sty or frost, is a frame capable of nuking the whole room of SP enemies empty by spamming 1 and 3 combo. It's kinda fair imo.

I got to use him in Duviri and I never died. Don’t own him yet (Thrax is the bane of my existence EVEN WITH A RESOURCE DROP AND REGULAR BOOSTER). Finally got the Thrax…. Gotta go back into Zaramin to get Quill Plumes. I like Zaramin. I hate the angels.
Its very common for bugs to be identified before launch, but not fixed. A mow class bug is one that doesnt prevent gameplay evennif not working as intended
my problem with the hotfix (you can't cast his 4 in the air) is that garuda is able to stay infinitely in the air with a combination out of her 3+4. so when this is okay to do, then they also can revert this change.
Even with the nerfs to the abilities and augment, Styanax is still a beast on steel path in the right hands. EDIT: First of all, thank you NovaUmbra for the like. Second, I just want to add that the Warframe Overguard system is still a relatively new mechanic, so my guess is DE is still figuring out how to implement it to existing frames and abilities without being unbalanced or overpowered, and will use that knowledge going forward.
the thing about styanax and revenant that really gets is that even if they removed the ability for the augment to share the overshield to allies, didn't they *just* give revenant a mod that gives him more mesmer skin charges AND gives allies within affinity range 5 charges? isn't that like, genuinely straight up better anyway...
Revenant don't recast his MS just to support. That's the issue. Yes everyone is now undead in a way, but you have to do that very frequent and pretty much burn through your energy pool, and you to be invulnerable every few seconds...And pressing a decent radius cc is also doing the same thing too... What is the point of playing revenant at this point if you are going down this route? That 5s is pretty much free survivability, occasionally. If you get, you get. Expired? No care. It's like people freak out on that 5s survivability, for like.. every 20s (if real situations involved), by this time, you can pretty much rolling guard 2 times for 6s total undead even if it does not exist...Or just press a good cc at this point...

There is a 1 second I-frame when a charge is depleted, but that doesn’t mean that 5 charges of Mesmer Skin from Mesmer Shield only lasts 5 seconds. It’s actually very easy to maintain the Mesmer Skin charges on teammates if you pay attention to your teammates’ buff bars and your teammates stay within affinity range. Also, Rolling Guard grants 3 seconds of invulnerability and has a 7 second cooldown. You can’t get 6 seconds of invulnerability from Rolling Guard if you roll twice in a row. It doesn’t work like that.
Yea, imo they should have never made mesmer skin the way they did (nor include fucking mesmer shield) since all it really does is makeing every future attempt of making someone challanging or endgame content i.e. raid maybe or smt a complete joke unless they make it so that Mesmer Skin just applies a 90% DR or smt in those situations

But nowadays, everyone is pretty much undead too, you are not going to run level cap anyways, so why even bother, just play octavia instead of revenant if you care, if you are into endurance as Octavia just does everything better, she is pretty much undead, kills everything, and still dealing more dmg. But then, it is 5 stacks only. 5 seconds max. And not like rev mains gonna recast that for you kekw, imagine had to recast every 5 seconds, you are burning your energy like there's no tomorrow, his energy economy isn't even great to get begin with, now you opt into something like this...

Honestly he is easily one of my favorite new warframes that doesn't feel like he needs the helmet mod system in order to play decently or good he just feels good in my opinion

i don't think the 15k cap is that bad, especially since an ideal styanax has at least 200% Power strength so you get 30k overguard. and with overguard you're immune to all status effects including those annoying magnet doors. and naturally your teammates benefit from this too, so long as their build does not require them to be harmed constantly. since even a very squishy caster frame can be overguarded and get the overshield from rally point
I will always hate Axios Javelin, because it's just a worse Mag Pull. Like, why would I aim at an enemy to get a CC, when I can just press a button to immediately CC?
It's the whole "needing to pin enemies to walls" thing that annoys me about that ability (alongside the weird aim-assist it has) the most. Just let me toss the spear wherever I want the pull vortex to be and give a bigger pull radius for hitting an enemy with it, to still incentivize aiming it at enemies.
Because it's already in his kit, no need to waste your only helminth on getting another grouping ability. And dude... he has infinite energy, just Spam it.

Styanax was my second ever warframe and currently the oldest one I have, not to mention being my Second Dream warframe, so he has a special place in my heart
I *do* think Styanax's augment needed a cap, but a starting cap of 15k feels too low given the fact that overguard does not get resistances from armor or adaptation, Steel Path enemies will chew through it. I feel like a starting minimum cap of 20k would be a little more comfortable. And also as a support player, i cant disagree more with the opinion that the team overguard should have been removed instead. All in all i just think DE is being weirdly harsh and critical of Styanax (especially when they have old ass frames they could be spending their time buffing instead...)
You can also fly with him using his first and I got molt reconstruct which as long as an enemy does a One-Shot lead me or my base it's a 1-1 for energy to hp which you can spam stynax which gives you HP and having Riley gives you energy so I can cash my ability if she can heal more teammates because just a casino cast even with efficiency could give you like 90 HP to all allies within affinity range

Styanax passive is additive to the mods which means it WONT do much on most of the weapons. Its not final addition, its addition to the mods... Still one of the better passives in game

The intrepid stand nerf was bound to come, unfortunately. However 15k base cap, 30k effecively because you want to run 200% strength minimum for armour strip is still way too low. a level 150 sentient doing the spinning laserbeam attack will break your entire overshield in 2 ticks. granted, sentients aren't everywhere, but this noticeably reduces Styanax's survivability in archon hunts and steel path lua.
Why would being in the air all mission be such a bad thing? If the player has the ability to play the floor is lava for the whole mission, let them have it. Sure there are some niche mods that give you damage for simply being airborne, i think, but they are just that. NICHE. Also, this game is PvE for the most part. If more competitive games took such an attentive approach like DE does to "balancing", it would either be really cool or just as polarizing.
The nerf literally doesn't mean anything other than the funny factor is now gone. Your overguard would have been dropped faster than it could get added at higher levels and no matter how much strength you add you won't be hitting that cap unless enemies can't take it down anyway. The overguard is much better for gating tied with his shield regain anyway. The nerf wasn't so much a nerf as a hurt to the funny, which is certainly sad, but its not a problem. That said, styanax was one of my favorites before the augment simply because of his sound design... then they added nourish buff and he became one of my favorites for buffing and solid nuking... Then finally they gave us the augment and it solved his only issue, survivability (namely against status). Now he is easily my 3rd favorite frame, bordering on 2nd. Oh and thank you for pointing out arcane arachne! People miss out on it a lot with him and its a huge help, such a strong addition to any build on him.
Ngl, I mostly just skipped to the "nerfs" section since I didn't know a nerf happened, but even still very informative video. Glad Styanax finally became one of the ( like 3? ) support frames that can actually still support In my personal opinion, the overguard nerf isn't that bad since, unlike the supports who restore health, basically anyone who needs a Styanax for the job is going to level cap (which I'm not sure why you'd want to since 'gating vs. level 1 = 'gating vs. level 99999 ), where it's the over-gate that matters, not the overguard
I was lucky to get Styanax and a free frame slot. Thank goodness I was one of the lucky ones who apparently didn't get him because I hate doing those Khal missions.
imo, Styanax ult had to be nerfed. The first video I watched of Styanax was literally a dude just spamming the ult in Steel Path Kuva Fortress. While it isn't bad to have a strong ult, it kindav just made him look and play boring. I don't like the way he was nerfed (although, it barely matters honestly, you can still spam on landing), it kindav just soft gated his abilities. That's what we get for being cheesy with new found power. I would've prefered a cooldown.
THe grind and launch really made me sad didnt even get a cool spear shield style either. (After seeing his animation) I basically just left lol Glad to hear hes worth it though. I'm still low so i'll stick with Rhino for abit
My issues with him atm is the fact that his overguard kills previous synergy with combat discipline / arcane avenger / nourish. Nourish doesnt trigger on hit while overguard is up (the viral explosion) , arcane avenger doesn't trigger and combat discipline doesnt seem to do anything either
Styanax was my main pre intrepid stand nerf. The nerf did not change my perspective of him and i still play him a bit. I dont like his 1 tho can i subsumed it with Khora's ensnare as i believe it does a better job than Styanax's 1
fun fact axios cna get caught by xata bubbles and it can hit straight down also tharros is really weird like the shields can be visually hitting and not strip
the reason they restricted it wsa because of a bug when you used final stand and the first ability styanax would fly up indefinitly i've used it and it was really hard to get to the ground again unless you didnt have much energy
since when "aviator" does apply to Stynax while using javelin? I tested it months ago and it didn' work, because he wasn't counted as air born while using javelin. It must have been fixed in an newer update without my recognition.
I don’t like the nerf because he helped you keep a lot of new players a live for me my revenant prime is my number 1 he became my number 2 and all the stuff I put in to him just to get all that OverGuard cut 15k smh so it’s a thumbs down for me

Funnily enough, Styanax was the frame I was playing when a pub troll Limbo decided to target me in particular with repeated Banishes. I have 2,800 hours in Warframe, and Limbo makes up 40% of those hours, I know how Limbo works. I just kept spamming Final Stand and kept getting kills anyway because abilities ignore the Rift. Maybe try trolling me with a frame that I don't have over 1k hours on?

I admit the augment was op. But still hurts to see the nerf, it was inevitable though. I think the 15k cap is a little small though. I was doing circut steel path and i felt like i was fighting for my life. Every second i buiit up overguard it was gone. Hopefully they don't nerf the interaction with rolling guard.for those who dont know, rolling guard also prevents overguard from taking damage. I say the minimum for overguard should be 30k-40k. Not 15. And keep the team overguard part, dont let styanax be another selfish frame like gauss when it comes to defenses.

My problem with this is you didn't mention how inaccurate axios is sometimes it will dodge around or straight up going through enemies with no effect.
I did in the *nerf* section where I briefly mention the inconsistency with axios, but I forgot to readd that tid bit in the ability section, my fault.

Styanax passive is additive to the mods which means it WONT do much on most of the weapons. Its not final addition, its addition to the mods... Still one of the better passives in game

The intrepid stand nerf was bound to come, unfortunately. However 15k base cap, 30k effecively because you want to run 200% strength minimum for armour strip is still way too low. a level 150 sentient doing the spinning laserbeam attack will break your entire overshield in 2 ticks. granted, sentients aren't everywhere, but this noticeably reduces Styanax's survivability in archon hunts and steel path lua.
Is it really a nerf tho it feels like when they took breach surge and "nerfed" it like they just lowered a number both still work well
Why would being in the air all mission be such a bad thing? If the player has the ability to play the floor is lava for the whole mission, let them have it. Sure there are some niche mods that give you damage for simply being airborne, i think, but they are just that. NICHE. Also, this game is PvE for the most part. If more competitive games took such an attentive approach like DE does to "balancing", it would either be really cool or just as polarizing.

The only acceptable energy colouring for this particular frame is green. The Final STAND is incomplete without that extra EMERALD SPLASH of flavour.

The nerf literally doesn't mean anything other than the funny factor is now gone. Your overguard would have been dropped faster than it could get added at higher levels and no matter how much strength you add you won't be hitting that cap unless enemies can't take it down anyway.
The overguard is much better for gating tied with his shield regain anyway. The nerf wasn't so much a nerf as a hurt to the funny, which is certainly sad, but its not a problem.
That said, styanax was one of my favorites before the augment simply because of his sound design... then they added nourish buff and he became one of my favorites for buffing and solid nuking...
Then finally they gave us the augment and it solved his only issue, survivability (namely against status). Now he is easily my 3rd favorite frame, bordering on 2nd.
Oh and thank you for pointing out arcane arachne! People miss out on it a lot with him and its a huge help, such a strong addition to any build on him.

Ngl, I mostly just skipped to the "nerfs" section since I didn't know a nerf happened, but even still very informative video. Glad Styanax finally became one of the ( like 3? ) support frames that can actually still support
In my personal opinion, the overguard nerf isn't that bad since, unlike the supports who restore health, basically anyone who needs a Styanax for the job is going to level cap (which I'm not sure why you'd want to since 'gating vs. level 1 = 'gating vs. level 99999 ), where it's the over-gate that matters, not the overguard
I was lucky to get Styanax and a free frame slot. Thank goodness I was one of the lucky ones who apparently didn't get him because I hate doing those Khal missions.

imo, Styanax ult had to be nerfed. The first video I watched of Styanax was literally a dude just spamming the ult in Steel Path Kuva Fortress. While it isn't bad to have a strong ult, it kindav just made him look and play boring. I don't like the way he was nerfed (although, it barely matters honestly, you can still spam on landing), it kindav just soft gated his abilities. That's what we get for being cheesy with new found power. I would've prefered a cooldown.

My issues with him atm is the fact that his overguard kills previous synergy with combat discipline / arcane avenger / nourish.
Nourish doesnt trigger on hit while overguard is up (the viral explosion) , arcane avenger doesn't trigger and combat discipline doesnt seem to do anything either
Still my favorite/main frame to play. He does great in SP content

Styanax was my main pre intrepid stand nerf. The nerf did not change my perspective of him and i still play him a bit. I dont like his 1 tho can i subsumed it with Khora's ensnare as i believe it does a better job than Styanax's 1

the reason they restricted it wsa because of a bug when you used final stand and the first ability styanax would fly up indefinitly i've used it and it was really hard to get to the ground again unless you didnt have much energy

since when "aviator" does apply to Stynax while using javelin? I tested it months ago and it didn' work, because he wasn't counted as air born while using javelin. It must have been fixed in an newer update without my recognition.

Funnily enough, Styanax was the frame I was playing when a pub troll Limbo decided to target me in particular with repeated Banishes. I have 2,800 hours in Warframe, and Limbo makes up 40% of those hours, I know how Limbo works. I just kept spamming Final Stand and kept getting kills anyway because abilities ignore the Rift. Maybe try trolling me with a frame that I don't have over 1k hours on?

I admit the augment was op. But still hurts to see the nerf, it was inevitable though.
I think the 15k cap is a little small though. I was doing circut steel path and i felt like i was fighting for my life. Every second i buiit up overguard it was gone.
Hopefully they don't nerf the interaction with rolling guard.for those who dont know, rolling guard also prevents overguard from taking damage.
I say the minimum for overguard should be 30k-40k. Not 15. And keep the team overguard part, dont let styanax be another selfish frame like gauss when it comes to defenses.
