I don't care what anyone says about Jeff, he took singing lessons from one of the greats. His voice also plays a part in Racer X, wouldn't be X without him.
I find his voice much less irritating than the guy from Iron Maiden for example, much less cheesy if you will... Jeff is also a badass drummer, in the sense of providing solid grooves with just the perfect amount of "technical stuff" at occasional times... Sadly he didn't record more drums, as far as I know.
"Less irritating than the guy from Iron Maiden". Man, Bruce Dickinson is the best metal vocal of history with Rob Halford and Dio. The guy sings like a bird, even old and after a cancer throath...
@@-RJ-hw6qq Well, i prefer Jeff too, and i was never high on Halford honestly. There are quite a few guys that i would put in front of Dickinson and Halford personally. Jeff Martin is a fantastic singer and an amazing drummer.
I think it is the best Racer X album too. But in the end they're all amazing, including the last one Getting Heavier, wich usually doesn't get much love unfortunately and i don't know why, it's awesome too.
I used to only listen to Technical Difficulties and Snakbite - or about the first couple of tracks. But I was a fool. God of the Sun has to be one of the bestest, guitar screaming-est things I've heard. Rock on!
i totally agree :-) but the singer is not bad at all just his voice a little bit out of the style in my opinion, but everyone needs to begin somewhere even one of the best guitarist ever ^^ ( Paul Gilbert if you didn't notice ;-) )
@+7dayspking If you listen to it speeded up by 20% you get the pleasure of great playing by PG plus the voice of a terrific female vocalist. The Racer X people would really love is only a couple of clicks away with the right media player. For the real lunatics out there doubling the speed gives you Alvin (of Alvin and the Chipmunks) accompanied by the Toyota assembly line at warp speed.
Man...after hearing this I don't wanna hear anything else dang didn't no this Cd was so classic sounding great old school music I love it its in my top ten
se la debe haber dado algun amigo arg. en EE UU... Ni debe saber q onda los vosteros. Paul Gilbert y la vosta son incompatibles. Cuando alguien le cuente q es la vosta..... tira a la mierda a ese trapo horrible.. jejee.
Cheers UA-cam for sticking a Justin beiber add between every fucking song on a racer x album. Really hitting your key demographic. Take the afternoon off. I mean, I KNOW you advertise new metal bands/albums, I've seen them on other videos so why try and snag heavy rock/metal fans with beiber adds while playing whitesnake adds during Christopher Hitchins debates? I know it's free so you get adds, fair enough, but why can't the adds be relevant like the "recomended videos" are?
yeah back then, many albums like this were available only from mail order, or were not as widely distributed. I used to order from R.A.M music or Impulse Music, both of which were advertised in Metal Edge or Metal Maniacs if memory serves me correctly
I just listened to this album now (how the.....!?) for the first time. And second time. And third time. Always knew Paul is a brilliant musician (the rest of the band too -they get too little cred!!) - but HOW have I been listening so little Racer X till now?!
Description says that Racerx was an early progressive band. Uh no. They've always been flatout rock.metal. Nothing progressive about their song changes or lyrics. They're still legit even without the cheap tactic of adding the 'progressive' label.
One of the greatest record of all time, period. Fantastic production, one of the best sound/mixing i've ever heard, superb playing as expected, and awesome songwriting. I love the 80s gems from Racer X, Street Lethal and Second Heat were the peak of the shred, and in fact most of these songs were written back then, but i absolutely treasure these three records they did late 90s and early 2000s when they reunited. Songs are more refined and sounding how they're supposed to.
Perhaps Mark McGee maybe Pat thrall there's lots of guys out there this dude can play pretty good he's definitely got his Ritchie Blackmore and Chet Atkins double pick down
1ST TIME I'VE SEEN THESE GUYS WAS @ THE ROXY BACK IN 1985......THEY WERE FUCKEN INCREDIBLE, & EVERYONE KNEW THIS BAND WAS HANDS DOWN.......ONE OF THE HARDEST ACTS TO FOLLOW IN THE CLUB SCENE......IF THIS BAND CAME OUT BACK IN 1979.......THEY WOULD BE RIGHT NEXT TO VAN HALEN..............PROBLEM WAS....WHEN EVER VAN HELEN PERFORMED......ALWAYS THEY WERE DRUNK.........HIGH AS HELL WHEN THEY PERFORMED IN THE CLUB SCENE.....& MAJOR CONCERTS....US FESTIVAL WAS ONE OF THEM.......!!!....
What the hell! What does Gilbert do with that ugly t-shirt ?? A fine guitar player like him must wear the sacred mantle of RIVER PLATE! He should not know...
Vocals are great, it wouldn't be Racer X without Jeff, so what the fuck?
It wouldn't be racerX without Travis and Juan either so WTF?
Phallic tractor?? Haha what the hell.Only just heard of paul gilbert yesterday what a fucking excellent guitarist.
Snakebite's solos are the definition of the term 'shredding'.
Den-Tin Palevo fuck yeah
Dont know what you all talking about the singer is kinda funny and good. I like him.
One Of The Best Albums In Metal History! By Racer X!!! 🤘⚡🔥
35 people are experiencing some kind of technical difficulties.
I don't care what anyone says about Jeff, he took singing lessons from one of the greats. His voice also plays a part in Racer X, wouldn't be X without him.

Racer X....melhor ainda este álbum que os lançados em 1986...Paul Gilbert....
Eu gosto de todos. Os antigos são bem exagerados e eu gosto também dessa fase exagerada heheheh. 👍🏼
why i did not pay any attention to this awesome band in the 80's? I'M A MORON!!!!
I'm with you. I use to see them advertising their shows all over Hollywood and I would say, "Who the fuck is that?"…Der..
must be because their old albums sounded like shit, these new ones received a well deserved treatment
You are not alone. I did not even hear of them until 5 years ago and I grew up in SoCal listening to heavy metal. Shows how naive I was.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time. I wish it got more love.
It's a hard hitting monster of rock! Right up there with all my all time favorite hard rock albums!
Holy shit I knew that racer X was '' good '' but after listening to this - they are fucking amazing
The best album!
Harrison Lima Superheroes
i was thinkin Superheroes....but this one is growin on me... bad ass...
Second heat and live and Extreme volume!
I think it is the best Racer X album too. But in the end they're all amazing, including the last one Getting Heavier, wich usually doesn't get much love unfortunately and i don't know why, it's awesome too.

Paul tiene la remera de Bokita, el mas grande. Que cracks.
I won' t say Racer X was "Progressive", surely technical, but much more in a Van Halen way than Dream Theater !
Fine Line
Shut up gay lord
This is quite a very good album!
Really don't care for the vocals but the guitar is fucking amazing throughout
i totally agree :-) but the singer is not bad at all just his voice a little bit out of the style in my opinion, but everyone needs to begin somewhere even one of the best guitarist ever ^^ ( Paul Gilbert if you didn't notice ;-) )

very funny now enjoy beiber..
kiba vlood One of my favs. At quarter speed he sounds like Paul Robeson singing in Urdu.
You're hilarious man.
The speed controller doesn't vary the pitch, just the tempo, though.
A buddy told me about these guys a few days ago. Can't believe I never heard of them before. Fuckin shred
You're been missing out on the ultimate shred that is Paul Gilbert and Racer X!
I recommend this album to anyone wanting to Paulish his/her guitar skills
I see what you did there Mr Mozart.
@@WalyB01 no no no its marrc ass LOL
Really great and suprisingly unexpected to hear a part from Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" solo. Awesome arrangement.

Damn !! I love this album
Best first song ever
How popular was this album when it came out? It was released at the height of nu-metal/post grunge popularity in the US.
Popular enough for people like us to find it and save our lives, thank Odin
yeah back then, many albums like this were available only from mail order, or were not as widely distributed. I used to order from R.A.M music or Impulse Music, both of which were advertised in Metal Edge or Metal Maniacs if memory serves me correctly
f@king great album!!!
12:39 Pink FLoyd´s tribute?
+El Fefo Yes
good observation.
pink floyd wishes they played like this dude
actually the part at 12:39 ( technical difficulties solo) sounds like a homeage to the epic solo from Floyd's Comfortably Numb.
That rythmic modulation though, shit, pi pi pi pi pi pi pi pi pipippppppppp 13:12

@@felipeneira8814 Better late than never! Now you know how incredible they are.
Right, quite killer!!
im glad they reformed because i wasnt a big fan of Mr. Big. Paul does some cool solo stuff though
Paul Gilbert rocks!
Miss Mistreater is possibly the best hair metal song of the 80's. Too bad it came out a decade late.
It's funny that the story behind this album being made is because Paul was being trolled for his first solo album
paul Gilbert es bostero papaaaaa jeje... bandon racer x
Miss Mistreater Is My Favorite Song
Fuck yeah!!!
10:38 Paul is wearing the Boca Juniors Tshirt which is a soccer club here in Argentina

it's amazing how similar paul gilbert's and buckethead's solo licks sound
