Hi Andy this ia a very nice brief for the camera but we want to know and compare this camera with the Arri Alexa in order to help us decide for which we can go for,and i dont know why sony release this camera now with still coming firmware not yet released for me iam happy with the price for the F55 but for specs the Arri Alexa is still big dragon of the market as they when announce they do it one time,still this camera F55 have a weak points (24p ,and many) will be solved in an upgrade
I have a question. There is an option for the shutter to set it ''off''. I didn't see it in this video, probably because of updates in the camera. but what does it mean, ''off''?
how can I use the spare as a False Color for exposure tool? I am with an F55, Version 9, recording RAW, and Spare is disable on camera. I just can't find how to enable.
Here is a response from Corey, one of our tech specialists: By spare, are you referring to the SDI Sub outputs? Do you have the camera set to output 4k? Worst case scenario, you could always do an "All Reset" to clear out any settings that could be causing it, there are certain settings in the menus that may disable other features. Just know that all of your shooting settings will have to be dialed back in if you perform a reset, so you may want to back everything up with an All File.
The MPEG2 proxy is a low bandwidth codec (50 Mbps) that's useful for offline editing, or sending dailies to clients. The F5 and F55 can record XAVC and the MPEG2 proxy files simultaneously, so it's a useful option to some workflows.
I was hoping that this camera could shoot 4K Raw externally and 4K baked with SXS cards. That would have been sweeter. Boy a lot of things to learn but you sure can set up to whatever you like.
