Yes, this takes me back, to when I first heard this in 1987, I fell in love with it. Prince had to be flattered by and proud of their version, went to high school with some of the members, the lead singer and guitarist in particular, still proud of them for their/this effort...
Dear God🙏💕❤ in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.
@@tianagilliam4067 even though this comment is seven years old, I wanted to say that it was probably the label who published the song (either his or theirs) that's taking it down. A lot more of it's been happening often, and it's almost sad.
You must've not been around when this cover came out. This song was on Prince's 2nd album that he released in 1979 but unfortunately in 1979, Prince was not widely respected as an artist. Even though he had 2 or 3 chart hits on this album, he didn't hit a real stride with American music listeners until 1982 when he released the album "1999" and then after that "Purple Rain". He was aided in some parts by the start of the MTV Network in 1981 because part of his artistry is visual. But when this song originally came out in, it was on the b-side of the record which meant little to no airplay. At that time the songs that got played by the DJs on the radio were on the a-side. So this song was not really getting airplay and to be honest I had never, ever heard the song until this cover by Princess and Starbreeze was released in 1987. The girl singing was only about 19 or 20 years old at the time but she had been singing and playing guitar and bass since she was young. She was not trying to sound like him. In all the years that he was alive, Prince never complained about her cover of his song. I think he knew she had a respect for music because how many black girls know how to play guitar and bass. Like how many artists that are played on the radio today can even play 1 single instrument? But because this artist covered his song, it got airplay and he got royalties. Where I lived, they never even played the Prince version of this song. I had no idea it was even a Prince song until many years later when I bought a Prince compilation CD and it was on it.
The Gospel of salvation of our souls: 💜💕💜💖💕For what I received I passed on to you as of [first importance]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time,
Just nabbed the original CD(in mint condition) on a eBay bid for just $7.58cents! Now my Princess & Starbreeze music collection on this project is complete, as I already have 2 cassettes, the album on vinyl and just about every 12” record that they put out on/as a single. I have to admit, their music is very rare and getting harder and harder to find for a decent price online or at your local mom & pop vintage record stores. My favorite track from this album is “Baby It’s Over”. Great album from the late 80’s, I love it!
This was my favorite song in 87’. Thank you for allowing me to hear it again on here❤

Its gonna be lonely without this copyrighted audio track
its lacking the soul and warmth that Prince had on his original. Gwen Stefani said it best, if you're not Prince, then you'll NEVER sound like him.
