I just found a ‘late great Townes van Zandt’ on poppy in an antique shop today for $6. Strong VG+. So excited to spin it

I've got a Houses of the Holy first press with a Crosby, Stills, and Nash label on side two. Never seen a blank one before though!

You would never believe it, but Royal Blood is a BASS guitar and drums only....with a multitude of pedals! A girl i met in Costa Rica saw them at the Glastonbury Festival years back and said they were incredible!

Greetings from wildest rural Wales, UK! I thoroughly enjoy your clips - you have great taste in music, for sure. Re Townes: I'm envious of your gatefold original Late Great … the UK pressing (on UA) was just a single sleeve. I remember buying Delta Momma Blues (a Poppy original) in London circa 1970 (which will give you some idea of my extreme age!) - I subsequently accumulated all the others, mostly the Tomato reissues (even those go for big bucks now), but I do have For The Sake Of The Song ('68) on Poppy too. Saw him live 2 years running, '86 and '87, when he toured small UK venues … unforgettably charismatic guy. In '87, I queued to get the current album (At My Window) signed: arriving at the table, Townes asked my name and what would I like him to write on the album: I heard myself launch into an embarrassing stream-of-consciousness fan-babble … it must have happened to him countless times! He courteously waited until I'd run out of breath, then wrote: 'To Andrew: Good Luck and Thank Everybody You Love, Townes Van Zandt'. In other words, don't just hero-worship me, spread it around a bit! Very astute … it's one of my most treasured albums. Re Ellen McIlwaine: those Polydor solo albums are thin on the ground, for sure: I have another one from '82 on the small Blind Pig label, called Everybody Needs It - it's a collaboration with Jack Bruce, of all people, and they play up an absolute storm together - if you see it, don't hesitate! She's well into her 70s now, but still out there playing, and writing her autobiography. All for now, sorry about lengthy comment, I can't do short ones! Keep up the great work.

Thank you Dillon. Just a quick add-on - Townes had a great, gentle sense of humour. One of his favourite sayings was: 'Don't forget, time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.' Very profound!

Man those Floyd albums are badass.I live in Indiana and its rare to come across things like that.We do have some good music shops here like Karma records and Village green records and a few others in Indianapolis but the prices reflect the lack of quality establishments, anyway I really enjoy watching your channel and seeing the great stuff you show .

Dillon, those Townes Poppy records are sweet!! I had never heard that story about his Mom arguing with the record store clerk. I'll have to check out that documentary. I still need a couple of the original pressings on Poppy. Someday soon hopefully. Love that Live "Throwing Copper". What a great album from the mid 90's. Sweet mo-fi of King Crimson as well as The Stones. Great stuff as always. Take care, Billy-

Dillon, you really need to get the knack of taking the record out of the inner sleeve without touching the surface with your fingers. It's not that hard. Finger oils really do have a bad effect on vinyl.
    OK, here we go:
    1. Record in inner sleeve.
    2. Place edge of record against palm of hand
    3. Place fingertips on label area
    4. Turn nearly upside down
    5. Use other hand to slide inner sleeve off
    Your records will thank you!

Hey there Noble Records! I am over here in Scotland and I enjoy watching your videos. I picked up a Tomato Records (1978) pressing of Townes Van Zandt (the kitchen album) from a local charity shop here in Lanark. It was in a box of total junk easy listening and budget C&W compilations. It is heavy card stock cover, record has a couple of hairlines but plays beautifully. I paid 50p (a little less than a dollar) for it. I have no idea how it managed to make its way across the Atlantic... it was not released over here till around 1990 and TVZ had no record company/ promoter over here. I feel blessed to have found it.

Of course, cool book. VU, I stuck to the newer reissue....at this point, I just do not need the original for those prices. But $50 is doable. Liked that Dylan / Band Boot......what is the quality sound? Now that is unique Houses of Holy, love the Zep III outtakes.....how is that sound? nice showings of different albums. appreciated.

Do you keep most of these records Dillon or do you put them up for sale on your pop ups? Great that you were able to meet Hank, I really like hi. Did he trade you his original Howling Wolf record , Howling At The Moon? Lol. That will never leave his possession. Great stuff as always. Steve

Finally getting caught up with all your recent videos - I try not to watch your videos because then I order all of the 60s psych albums you showcase! Can’t tell you how much I enjoy learning from you! I already told our boy Chris, but my buddies own a record shop up here - follow them on Instagram at station1booksvinyl and when they post their daily Flipthroughs all you have to do is leave a comment to reserve the albums you want, telling them to put it on my “reserve shelf” at the store!! I am there several times a week :). Northern New Jersey loves you :)

Those PF releases on colored vinyl are reaaaalll nice looking! And yes, I hate those fold over sealable plastic sleeves too, they usually go in the trash for me haha. Hate to plead ignorance here my friend, but I really know very little about Townes Van Zandt (and had never even heard of him before joining the VC and hearing you talk about him). I know he's very high up on your favorites of all time list, and I really need to make a point to dive into his catalog!

Very cool mofi Court! I love the Hendrix blues album! I had it on CD when it came out and was super stoked when it released on vinyl. They did a good job mixing that album together. I might go play it tonight. Out with the cold (and the colds) and in with the warm weather!

Zandt, wiki suggests a wandering lost soul with loose morals and an unlucky encounter with antiquated medical notions. I find him up there with Dylan and Waits in the singers who can't sing pantheon.

Hey Dillon, I was wondering if you could tell me how do I get stickers off an expensive album I just recently got my hands on a Led Zeppelin untitled promo 1st pressing(1971) and it has a few stickers on it. Can you help me?

    • @lucillechilds3761
      @lucillechilds3761 5 років тому

@@noblerecords It funny you mention hype sticker cause this record belonged to a radio station and they put a sticker right on the promo hype you would think that they should know better..Some people mentioned using a blow dryer to melt the sticky stuff( that a technical term) lol and then remove the sticker I think I will try that first it sound like the one with the least damage to my cover. I was hoping you had a magical way to do it since you have the best record collection I have ever seen.

    • @miketomlin6040

Lighter fuel usually, leave for a minute or so. Then get a scraper and remove slowly. Some need a hairdryer, others 'stronger' removal liquid, but avoid getting on actual cover as it might take the print off.
