A few ideas:
Multiple kids need hiding
Some of the kids will get scared if the Man comes near, so you have to be strategic with who you hide where
You can mislead the Man with noises away from the kids
You can call 911 to cut down on the Man's time in the house, but calling takes up valuable hiding time
Multiple endings based on how you survived. One of them is just the regular hide until he leaves, one of them the police show up to catch him, one of them you hide in a place he'll look and pepper spray him
Apparently a sequel is in the works so who knows? I really hope they expand on this more

17:03 you could've moved the couch and opened the donuts and hid junior in the freezer and put you under the table, the couch and donuts should've bought you 2 minutes, so him checking under the bed, under the sink, and in the washtub would've saved you because he would've gotten mad and/or bored because he couldn't find you. You could've also locked the door which would have bought you 3 minutes! ^^

Open the box of donuts and then hide you and junior in the last and second last place he would check. Lock the door on the room for the first place he'd check with the intention of stalling

The game did technically tell you that there was an inventory system if you looked at the controls when you looked at the quality settings at 12:14 . It doesn't directly tell you of course but there really was only the book and keys.
