From the twisted mind of Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman franchise, Kick-Ass) comes Argylle, a razor-witted, reality-bending, globe-encircling spy thriller.
Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World franchise) is Elly Conway, the reclusive author of a series of best-selling espionage novels, whose idea of bliss is a night at home with her computer and her cat, Alfie. But when the plots of Elly’s fictional books-which center on secret agent Argylle and his mission to unravel a global spy syndicate-begin to mirror the covert actions of a real-life spy organization, quiet evenings at home become a thing of the past.
Accompanied by Aiden (Oscar® winner Sam Rockwell), a cat-allergic spy, Elly (carrying Alfie in her backpack) races across the world to stay one step ahead of the killers as the line between Elly’s fictional world and her real one begins to blur.
The top-flight ensemble cast features Henry Cavill (The Witcher), John Cena (Fast X), Oscar® winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Grammy winning pop superstar Dua Lipa (Barbie), Emmy winner and Oscar® nominee Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), Emmy winner and comedy icon Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service), and the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. Alfie is played by Chip, the real-life cat of supermodel Claudia Vaughn (née Schiffer).
Argylle is directed and produced by Matthew Vaughn, from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman). The film is produced by Matthew Vaughn, Adam Bohling (Kingsman franchise), Jason Fuchs, and David Reid (Kingsman franchise). The executive producers are Adam Fishbach, Zygi Kamasa, Carlos Peres and Claudia Vaughn.
Apple Original Films presents, in association with MARV, a Cloudy production. Argylle is distributed by Universal Pictures.
This looks like just plain fun and I think the casting is great. These are the kinds of movies that Hollywood needs to make more of nowadays

THIS is what a trailer should be. Just enough of the plot depicted to let the viewer know what the movie is basically about and get them interested, but not too much that it spoils the entire plot. And it had great music with cuts that perfectly run alongside with the music, and a beat that kept the trailer going instead of getting boring all while enticing the viewer to want more by the end; which is ultimately the goal of every trailer.

This movie didn't get good reviews... but I loved it! I actually saw it twice. I'd see it again if it was out in theaters. Loved the late 1970s/early 1980s songs and cheesy plot line. The campiness is sublime!

And I hate to say this but it sounds awfully familiar to Sandra Bullock's movie "The Lost City", which seemed like an updated version of "The Jewel of the Nile" and "Romancing the Stone". All the movies are about an author with a life that's nothing about their books and they get introduced to an adventure in another country for the movie. Sorry, but Hollywood is just taking the same story and giving it a bit of a twist, nothing original here. Still looks good though.

@@nancydrew5Through no fault of his own, he's a recognized great, who has yet to become a consistent box office draw. I love everything he's in, but he's very rarely top billed, just a very welcome, gifted and scene-stealing, supporting actor.
I think of him as this generation's Harry Dean Stanton. The simple fact that he's among the cast, automatically elevates the stature of a film.

I get so excited seeing movies like this. Not based on an existing IP, not too serious, not part of a cinematic universe. Just a joy ride. Hollywood used to tell unique stories like this.

Sam Rockwell is definititely an underrated actor so it's good to see him in other movies. Also the plot kind of reminds me of the movie "Stranger than fiction"
Literally noone underrates Sam Rockwell. He's amazing and always has been and everyone knows it.
I put Rockwell alongside dudes like Dafoe, Hugo Weaving and Gary Oldman. Walls of the industry, they might be in good or bad movies but will always deliver rocksolid performances.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought this was going to be a lighthearted story about a spoiled cat that gets lost and has to go on a quest to return to its doting owner. When I realized it wasn't I was so disappointed. The fact that by the end of this trailer I was looking forward to the movie again is extremely impressive. We need more movies with fun these days.

I didn't think that a movie coming out of Hollywood today could ever make my all-time favorites, but Argyle - after last night's viewing - is one of the best action movies EVER MADE.

Just a warning to anyone who wants to go see this movie. DON’T. It starts off brilliant with the first hour but the rest drags on with the most ridiculous and stupid plot lines and unconvincing acting. I wanted to rip my eyes out at one of the random dance sequences that take solace for literally no reason. Also don’t be fooled by the marketing. Dua Lipa and Henry Cavill and John Cena are literally in this movie for mere minutes if not less. Save yourself from an excruciating 2 and a half hours.

This is an exceptionally well cut trailer. Of particular note is the audio. If you listen without watching you can hear the editor's immense skill at work.
When they can mix in an Elvis song and actually make it better, they deserve some massive credit

the plot twists just got annoying, the first part was good, how the spy was like a body guard for the chubby chick, then they had that plot twist were she was actually an agent and it went down hill from there. the scene where she ice skating the whole movie theatre was laughing because the sight of a soccer mom slicing well trained mercenaries is so fukcing dumb. I left when that happened because I was really started to feel the 2 hour run time because of the non-stop action beginning to end, I personally rate it 2/10.

This really reminds me of that action movie with Sandra bullock as an author who gets abducted by Daniel Radcliff to find an archeological treasure- I love that we're doing action movies that feel like the set up of a romance novel (the same way there's a ton of movies about screenwriters, there's loads of novels about authors)

It's nothing knew. Hollywood marketing has been doing it for years. Just check out the cast announcement trailer for James Gunns The Suicide Squad (2021) or a trailer for almost any Guy Ritchie flick.
Gotta love Vaughns movies. Turns a dramatic actor into an action movie badass and films are always entertaining.
Many people say Daniel Craig got the Bond role thanks to Layer Cake. Who was the director? Matthew Vaughn. Henry Cavill is trying to pull off the exact same thing. The difference is that Layer Cake was actually a pretty decent movie.

I was hooked, jebaited, surprised, thrilled, awed, and now, most important, HIGHLY INVESTED to see this movie! The cast is shocking, the plot sounds intriguing, and the overall tone feels immaculate. Haven't felt this hyped about a trailer since Joker.
This movie is so good I saw it in the theaters last night and I don't remember blinking I definitely recommend
This gives me really big vibes of "Romancing the Stone" where a romance author meets someone who is essentially the real version of her main character.
Matthew Vaughn directs great action films like the Kingsman trilogy, Kick-Ass, and X-men first class. This looks exciting

Having seen a bunch of Matthew Vaughn movies I'm excited for this. The trailer gives off all the right vibes and matches with his style. And of course the cast looks phenomenal.
Kingsman was actually very creative and yea he has been a great director .. this one seems to be creative as well

This is a phenomenal trailer crafted so perfectly that the trailer itself becomes the perfect cliffhanger for the movie that is about to come. And the star cast is just amazing... and Henry Cavil looks amazing. I do hope that he gets to work with creators who are not driven by any external agenda and are really true to the stories which is due to the story.

@@Eragon2679 not really, the breed happened by accident when a kitten in a litter had those ears by the name of Susan, when she had kittens, 2 of them had her ears as well. the Geneticists determined it's a simple dominant gene for the ears, if you want to talk about a misbred breed, go look at the Munchkins, I can discuss dogs that have been misbred from what they use to look like 100 years ago, like the British Bulldog or the Bassett hound.

@@FLeigh12 trailer is misleading and lures you in to the cinema as it looks like you’ll get to see another great spy movie. Once you’re there you will realise that Henry Cavill isn’t the real character but plays a persona, Dua Lipa dies after the first 10 mins, then the movie progresses to be bland. Overuse of CGI, over-the-top action sequences, comedy doesn’t land apart from a couple of jokes - and I’m talking just on my behalf as no one in the cinema laughed either. Everyone ended up checking their watch and couldn’t wait for the movie to end.

the plot twists just got annoying, the first part was good, how the spy was like a body guard for the chubby chick, then they had that plot twist were she was actually an agent and it went down hill from there. the scene where she ice skating the whole movie theatre was laughing because the sight of a soccer mom slicing well trained mercenaries is so fukcing dumb. I left when that happened because I was really started to feel the 2 hour run time because of the non-stop action beginning to end, I personally rate it 2/10.
