      I’ve watched many of your videos across ML and RCI, they’re Absolutely fantastic and refreshed a lot of my knowledge as I’ve not done much in 10-15 years. So smashing a lot out this year. Some of your videos I watch over and over so that the information is absorbed. Keep them coming. Brilliant and very informative. Thanks.

    Thank you soooo much - I have been watching your videos which have been so useful to me. I did my training many years ago and just want to finish the qualification. I've been bit reluctant to do the assessment but I am throwing myself in. I've recently done HML - which is enough to cover our school D of E terrain - as an interim and found it so stressful. You have made me feel much calmer - thank you!

    Another great vid Jez! Totally loved going through the ML process; enjoyed my training (thanks Jez) and found my Assessment challenging, exciting and enjoyable in equal measure. Definitely agree with your comments; just get out as much as possible and enjoy/LOVE the mountains. Going through the ML qual definitely gave me the confidence to go out on my long distance trails!

    Great video Jez. Brings back fond memories of my assessment. It's so easy to make it a bigger deal than it actually is.

    Great work Jez - really enjoying your videos, thanks for putting these up during the current crisis! Any thoughts on doing a simliar video for folks working towards their RCI assessment? Top tips, run-through of the assessment process, that sort of things. Maybe even a compilation of some of the rope skills you should be practiced on! Thanks again.

    You mentioned geology in this video. How about that an a suggestion for a video - climbing geology for beginners? Right back to basics, what's an Arete, what's a pin scar, what's scree etc

    Awesome video. Thank you.
    One quick question... a friend mentioned something about a 5 minute presentation. Is this a general thing across all assessments or is this a course specific one? Just dont believe you mentioned it in video. Perhaps it has been a recent addition as did notice video was 4years old.
    Any info would be much appreciated. Thank you

      Depends on the assessor. Personally I don’t ask for one, I just want people to bring stuff up as and when it’s relevant. I kind of think that’s more natural and appropriate.
      Check with your assessor when you book 💪

    Another great video - Thank you! I've just found your channel and watched about 4 in a row now! I don't have my training until October so trying to get ahead. One quick question about the assessment weekend if you don't mind helping me...You said the assessment can have up to 4 people. If there's less than 4, does that mean we do longer nav stints or do we just shorten the route accordingly? Many thanks.

    Is the ability to do a grade 1 scramble pretty much essential? I'm scared of heights and lots of the scrambles, whilst physically manageable, are really exposed and difficult for someone like me, even if can do all the other skills!

    • @JBMountainSkills
      @JBMountainSkills  2 роки тому

      Good question. On training and assessment you will be on some steep ground which will include short sections of grade 1 ground. I certainly don’t expect superstar mountaineers or anything. If you can get up something like the N Ridge of Tryfan, by the easier lines, you’ll be cruising on an ML course.

    Hi- quick question. How do you assess group management and leadership in the journey? What are you looking for?
    Esspecailly if my group are my colleagues... will i just have to pretend they are less comfortable and less knowleddable in the mountains environment?
    So I would just treat them as normal - a friend to a friend. So how do you then access leadership if that's the case?

    • @JBMountainSkills
      @JBMountainSkills  3 роки тому

      Personally I don't roll play, I ask that people are treated as they are, but will only do something if told too, remembering that anyone can slip on anything, so playing the game a little and erring on the side of caution when it comes to spotting / shepherding, or getting the rope out.
      That way we still get to see loads of decision making etc.

    Hi Jez, I was wondering if it's also worth logging your training & assessment as QMD's. Will your ML training count towards the QMD's for assessment? My first instinct tells me it might be scraping the barrel a bit but I would wonder if the training days would meet the QMD criteria.

    • @JBMountainSkills
      @JBMountainSkills  10 місяців тому +1

      The training days don't count towards QMDs I'm afraid. It's because you're "under instruction".
      A course report gets filled out, so you can still look back at what you've done during the course.
