    Hamjar Song is one of the most lively and popular folk Song of the Rabha Tribe. That reflect agricultural life and activities of the tribe. The term 'Hamjar' has been derived from two Rabha words 'Ha' and 'Jar' meaning 'Soil' and forest or 'Jungle'. This dance incorporate and depicts various agricultural activities performed by young boys and girls pertaining to 'Jhum cultivation'. This dance basically enacts how they cleared forest, preparation of the agricultural field for cultivation sowing of seeds, harvesting and reaping.
    The whole story line of the dance shows how they angaged in cultivation through singing, Dancing and merry - making till the harvesting period.
