I'm sick of shelters anyway... No one wants to visit them because it's just one more time they have to sit through a loading screen and once you've spent hours inside of one shelter building whatever, it feels pointless to do it over and over and over.
They need to make incentives to visit. Like multiple people can play pool or bowling. Get charisma bonus. Or 4 players sitting at communal fire pits gives 10% exp for a hour for the team.
I agree, being able to build everything would be a start, resources, and ALL camp allies that you collected would make it feel lively like an actual settlement
A few reasonably sized ones wouldnt go a miss, they are all massive, or there vaults. The Root Cellar is a perfect example of one that could be half the size. First room is great, then you just walk into this massive space. I ended up blocking it off because i didnt want to fill it all, i just wanted a little storage area under the church i built
Probably looks so weird is because none of the trees, bushes etc cast a shadow, its very Fallout 3-esque when you look at it in game. In the Atom Shop picture, you can see everything casts a shadow, so there's definitely a lighting bug when it comes to that particular lighting in shelters, my theory is they'll have a debugged build which is working as intended but retail version of the game does not, hence why a lot of shit they put out looks bad. When it comes to textures on those Vault-Tec, thats just laziness with not checking consistancy.
Ik what you mean about the phantom shadows, the Flatlands Shelter had the same issue that they only just fixed in a recent update. When I say "fixed" I mean it's gone about 90% of the time and still crops up occasionally but a restart usually gets rid of it.
The lighting bothered me the most about the summer camp shelter too. There are just no shadows whatsoever. Nothing ever looks like it belongs in the area and it just looks so baaaaad
I wish they would make a shelter that was a simulated outdoor space, like very clearly artificial grass and painted clouds on the ceiling. I feel like it would play better than actually trying to make outdoor shelters.
The thing w/entrance area being inaccessible/unbuildable is ridiculous; but even more so that Bethesda is selling access to a fenced buildable area, and a significant fraction of the fenced area they're selling is unbuildable is criminal false advertising. When I buy a pair of pants online, I expect to get pants in the mail, not shorts.
Videogames are ruined nowadays, they are made for people who like spend money for a rush of dopamine.it's a bit sad that an a post apocaliptic games is surviving like that selling that type of sht instead of selling dlc mission or other thinks like that
This follows on from that quickie-mart prefab, which I was genuinely shocked to discover is just an empty shell inside. No second story, nothing. Sheer laziness charging premium prices.
I think all of these outdoor shelters have the same terrible lighting. What makes it look so bad is the fact that the light bleeds through all roofs so the inside of your house will just be blasted with sunlight
The newest shelter looks 2D to me. I agree with you about the harshness of the sun, maybe it's about to go supernova? Always appreciate your honest opinions though!
Bethesda kind of lost my support when I had a problem that needed to be resolved and I had told them that there was something for sale during the Christmas event and I purchased said item and they told me that I hadn't actually purchased it despite the fact that it was literally pictured in the entry advertising the bundle. So they were using an item advertising for a bundle that wasn't actually in the bundle, and then gaslit me and told me that it wasn't actually there. This is why I have taken a huge sabbatical from 76. Kind of silly how I didn't do anything wrong and yet I'm the one who needs a timeout in the corner.
I don't mind it bulldozing grass in front, but I wish it was more consistent and just cleared out equal amounts all around the prefab. After all, a HOA-approved starter house _should_ have a properly-mowed lawn.
Yea I was really excited for the summer camp one but the lighting is just awful and makes any build look terrible not to mention the lack of a daylight cycle which would be fun
@@abbygaleforcewindwhat does that have to do with anything? If he has stopped supporting Bethesda, why is he watching a video about Fallout 76, a Bethesda Game. Dude is just here to whine
Stop whining yourself. There's a big difference between playing a game you enjoy and actively paying a monthly subscription fee to actively support Bethesda's bs, and you know it, so shut your pie hole.
The no ramp for the car is the first thing I thought was dumb, also no window treatments work either and who the f would leave the huge windows open to their bedroom..unless you like being watched lol. Also I realize this is a petty complaint but I really want sinks for the shelters, they don’t even need to work with running water. But you can’t realistically have kitchens and bathrooms without sinks🙄
I bought the previous campground shelter and hated it for the same reasons, the lighting is fkn awful. So what did I do? I bought this one too... Thanks for the vids Church
Thanks for the in depth review, This is the third video that I've watched for this prefab bundle and none have been terribly positive. All of the commenters are pointing out the building issues with both the prefab's interior and exterior. I'm going to hold off on picking this up as it seems more of a hassle then it's worth. Subscribed.
they call it "track house" when it's supposed to be "tract house" also known as cookie cutter housing, where you'll see a large suburban area filled with similar or identical housing, which was a big theme in pre-war suburbs in the fallout universe. i don't know why they decided to call it "track house". that's not a thing. maybe the devs are big fans of pitbull's latest album. maybe they're really into motorsports, idk. love your content!
White picket fences don’t clip together, white clean kitchen cupboards and cabinets aren’t placeable in the house. Prefab house only, no floors or walls to build your own. No flat area without grass, when you place the house it has grass showing up through the floor. If you raise the height of the house, then the porch area isn’t flat with the ground, so a car is pointless to put there. Can’t place curtains on the windows and the blinds don’t look right. Whole thing hasn’t been thought out.

part of the reason is that whenever anyone gives critical feedback on a poorly made product, bethesda toe-suckers pounce on them to protect the AAA company from our Mean Words. Also, feedback is consistently deleted and censored in the official bethesda discord in channels specifically created for us to give feedback in by moderators resulting in an echo chamber of said toe suckers and it's quite unfortunate.
Don’t buy the new shelter! I did the mistake of buying it last night. Not only is the lighting very gross but there is also this GIANT LIGHT FLAIR that u you will see through anything you built, I hope they fix this cause it’s very bad
Yeah, you're spot on. There's a sickly, artificial feel to the lighting in the outdoor shelters unfortunately. I bought the campsite one and never built in it because the lighting makes it feel like I'm on a movie set, versus the world lighting in the actual map, where I can genuinely feel like I'm carving out a home in the actual living wounded world of Fallout. I know people have complained for a while about the lighting in these outdoor shelters, so it's disheartening that they don't seem to be listening? Perhaps it's a technical issue but the much suggested 'go up to the console in the shelter and pick a time of day lighting' or 'let us use the weather machines in a shelter' would be a great fix. I think the concept of outdoor shelters is fantastic but until they fix the weird fake-feeling lighting, it's hard to want to use them.
Triumph Terrace Bundle image, shows dropped curbs and floor tiles for a drive. The different shades of blue on Vault-Tec, this just shows there is no QA testing. Be interesting to see if the lovely and brilliant, very easy to place Vault-Tec survival tent is another shade of blue. I am still 50/50. Thanks for the video. 👍
Trying to place the house makes my Xbox framerate like a slideshow, exactly like that shelter with the lake we last got. I checked for reviews earlier and there were none. Should have waited. What I would like to see is an entire bundle devoted to doors. No matter what, none of the doors I have look "right", and I have a LOT of doors! Thanks Mister Church, keep the good stuff comin'...Your wicked sense of humor makes up for the crap Bethesda does to us!
thank you! going to try to get review vids out sooner when i do them in the future! hate to see people spending their money on garbage that the devs don't care enough about to make with anything resembling quality
not being able to get up to the wall is insane. If that is the boundary then that should be where the wall is, because at that point it will just look foolish. This is just another reason I don't purchase shelters.
Again, we are seeing the continuing Bethesda modus operandi of "awesome idea, terrible execution". The shelters, especially outdoor ones, have so much potential, but the bad lighting, bad background elements, invisible barriers, and limitation of building options keep limiting the shelters as viable options for many players. I did buy this because I do like it and I do like the shelter, but all of the criticisms are valid. I hope one day they'll fix shelters as a whole. So much unrealized potential.
WOW! that lighting is almost as bright as the Flat Land Shelter. at least the brightness in the desert makes sense. The fact you can only place one house is ridiculous. This is a badly designed shelter. I'll pass. THANK YOU for this video! you saved me some Atoms.
It's a real shame, I haven't been excited for anything in the Atomic Shop for a long time & this really got me to buy right away... But to not be able to build right to the exterior walls & to only be able to build 1 house is a real shame. Bethesda ruined the lighting a long time ago & it just never got fixed, only got worse.
@@Alexdraculas1988 yeah... dreaming..., still very profitable, giving even water for free because i have sometimes no time or point of selling it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The reason it bulldozez out the front and back of the house like that is likely so you can fence it off and have front and back gardens. I think that is quite a good feature tbh.
Id rather new scrap box shape skins than just paint skins. Id love a set of lockers like in the APC survival tent or the wodden boxes on the Gazebo survival tent. Since most people put the Stash, Scrap, and Ammo boxes together it would be nice if they actually "fit" together.
sanctuary had like 8 of those houses only having 1 is so weird. they themed the shelter to look pre war so building a bunch of scrappy wasteland stuff looks weird esp with the lighting. i dont get it
The issue you're trying to put your finger on with the lighting is that for whatever reason the environmental artist is using a hard white light as the sun. They should have used a warmer light with more of a fall-off to soften up the highlights and shadows. You never want to use white light for the sun. And hard light is best used for man-made light sources, but never sources from nature. This is lighting 101 fail. Everything about this shelter screams Junior artist or intern. Clearly there was no senior level oversight. After playing this game for about 4 months, I wonder if there are any senior level developers on the Fallout 76 team.
Not a fan of how the grass in the shelter clips through everything. And i wish the outdoor shelters had day/night cycles. Lights and electricity are obsolete.
Nothing at microsoft is QCed. That's why everything they make is in a constant state of repair. They have to justify spending 200k per engineer so they make sure they always have something to fix.
I play on XBox X and have the same issues with lighting here. It seems the whites are TOO white and bright, to the point of hurting my eyes. The rest of the colors seem fine. My character has a shadow, nothing else has one. In decorating the house, I’ve had no problem placing bushes, trees, and other decor around the outside or inside. The blue kitchen cabinets hung easily on the wall and went nicely into place against it. The curtains, however, won’t hang at all inside the house, but they will hang nicely on the OUTSIDE! 😂 The living room white walls are so bright that I hung 3 Cassidy’s Favorite Paintings on the large wall just to tone it down. It doesn’t look too bad. I don’t know how I’m going to tone down the white walls in the rest of the house. I can place foundations close to the outside of the house on the carport side but nowhere else. It wasn’t easy though. I just wanted steps up to the area and can’t place steps at all without a foundation. The trees in my game don’t look like your game at all. Your trees do look like a painting! Wow! In my game, the trees look as natural as in the rest of the game. Perhaps it’s the difference between platforms? 🤷🏼♀️ I was also disappointed that the build area wasn’t as large as I expected. I really wanted the area all the way to the walls. And it would’ve been fun to place a vehicle at the entrance, if not a gate like you suggested. One cool thing about it is that I can build 10 walls high! I’d love to have a structure that would get me high enough to see the awesome view of everything surrounding the community, since we aren’t allowed to run over there.
Yeah I noticed the lighting thing too, its like they took a noon sun and put it on the horizon, the effect comes off like its just a big damn spotlight. I wish they would allow us to put down weather devices in shelters, it would at least get rid of that issue. Or I wish they had built a day/night cycle into this shelter. I still dunno why they won't let us put down any of the resource generator decorations in the shelters.. is it gonna break the game if I can get 5 more company tea? lol
Its based off the lustron home from the 50s. It clears the area around it for a lawn. A front and back yard. Being able to build multiple prefabs would be nice. Habe different colors as well
the developers should have made a fence out of Sanctuary trimmed bushes instead of a concrete fence, if players want a heavy fence, they'll make it themselves. and if they did make a concrete fence, they could have just put up a huge static gate at the entrance instead of a weird buffer zone and an empty road. the lighting was most likely copied from the desert shelter, that's why it's so weird i also don't like that the preview of the set shows a new car and sets of plants that aren't included.
I'm a bit confused about why the Vault-Tec-themed tent didn't use the... You know... Vault-skinned usables like scrapbox, bed, and weapons workbench. It's not like you could use them in your camp.
Thank you so much for reviewing this bundle. The lighting in the shelter is horrendous, but I really enjoyed decorating the Lustron style house for my new camp build. It allows a huge camp budget too! 🙂💗
I like the idea of it but the lighting 😢 Having just built in the bus shelter with lighting which almost feels abrasive, I dunno if I could live with it in another shelter. Bus shelter also has blinding orbs of sunlight blazing on the ceiling when you’re in a building so I’m guessing this is the same
I thought this was going to be really cool. Minutes in I realized I can't put in anything water. No sinks or dishwashers. Somehow the shower works WTAF?
Except many people can't buy the terraced house even if they wanted to because they locked it behind a subscription service. So now you have to give Bethesda money, in order to give Bethesda money. These are weird, self sabotaging tricks to try and incentivise people to get FO1 because arbitrary limits on storage for people who don't didn't work. If it was priced reasonably, like $8 fine. But it isn't. It's $23 in Australia which comparatively is the same amount it costs for Amazon Prime (which comes with prime video, prime music and prime gaming and ironically gave away FO76) PLUS ANY OTHER MAJOR STREAMING SERVICE like Netflix, STAN or Disney+. It's also the same price as 5 costco chickens, but they think locking the ability to give them money behind giving them subscription money is going to validate the price? 😂
They need to sort the lighting out in shelters. I am using the summer camp and the lighting is atrocious. Flickering and death rays. Really detracts from the building experience. I am making a museum for scoreboard items. Playing on Xbox S.
I agree, happens with other similar shelters, the lighting is artificial lighting for interiors. Shadows don't work so well, light isn't defused. Only one interior shadow that mates every shadow. Becomes very noticeable once you put interiors in there. Y'know, like the house you are given with the bundle.
Shock and anger!🤯 The boundary restrictions overlook what’s obvious to anyone who planned to actually have fun building!😠 And wtf good is a track house tract with only one track house!?!?😡 Damn!🤬🤦🏼♀️
Thanks for the video! Definitely going to pass on the bundle. Sometimes I think Bethesda has a consistency problem. It’s as if all the older folks quit or were laid off and then a new batch of folks have to figure everything out again 😂
Bundle is cool I did refund though the house is just too big.. it fits in the shelter but out in the world it’s massive the shelter is cool but I don’t like how it spawns at the end of the town and not at the round about. Since I refunded I got to keep the items placed so I still have the ammo box and scrap box
Best guess? To keep you from trying to hop out with a built staircase. It's still stupid, they could put their invisible barrier at the wall's edge and let you build a proper suburban settlement.

@@Santorini76actual they have 2 from nuka cola but yeah, more would be nice...
@@mr.gamedestroyer1
They have 2 what?

This shelter was so close to a home run. But in typical fashion, just fumbles at every corner.

I think all of these outdoor shelters have the same terrible lighting. What makes it look so bad is the fact that the light bleeds through all roofs so the inside of your house will just be blasted with sunlight
yup the lighting is so bad they dont even care
The newest shelter looks 2D to me. I agree with you about the harshness of the sun, maybe it's about to go supernova? Always appreciate your honest opinions though!
Good review brother… Still gonna buy the house separate, she looks pretty enough to put in Whitesprings.
This shelter looks terrible like the rest of the exterior shelters, Bethesda is just peddling half assed content and I’ve stopped supporting it
Yea I was really excited for the summer camp one but the lighting is just awful and makes any build look terrible not to mention the lack of a daylight cycle which would be fun

Subscribed.
I appreciate what Bethesda was going for, but sadly it seems "quality control" was out to lunch on this project.😔
I don't think they have that lol
@@misterchurch666 They dont, try placing a light above the door or a painting on the wall and see how bad the item registration is in this prefab
they call it "track house" when it's supposed to be "tract house" also known as cookie cutter housing, where you'll see a large suburban area filled with similar or identical housing, which was a big theme in pre-war suburbs in the fallout universe. i don't know why they decided to call it "track house". that's not a thing. maybe the devs are big fans of pitbull's latest album. maybe they're really into motorsports, idk. love your content!

You can't put a sink in the kitchen.... water tab is not availaible in shelter 🤦
I've seen so many posts of ppl saying they are demanding a refund for the shelter. How can they fuck this up so badly? Again and again?
part of the reason is that whenever anyone gives critical feedback on a poorly made product, bethesda toe-suckers pounce on them to protect the AAA company from our Mean Words.
Id love to see an actual vending machine in the game. Like the ones that sell pop and chips

Thanks Mister Church, keep the good stuff comin'...Your wicked sense of humor makes up for the crap Bethesda does to us!
thank you! going to try to get review vids out sooner when i do them in the future! hate to see people spending their money on garbage that the devs don't care enough about to make with anything resembling quality
thanks for going over this bundle. i was contemplating getting this. i now know it's not worth it with how limited you are on building one house
not being able to get up to the wall is insane. If that is the boundary then that should be where the wall is, because at that point it will just look foolish. This is just another reason I don't purchase shelters.
Thank you for this. Saved me from a terrible mistake.
The lighting issue started with the Pitt shelter, and it's been getting worse with every outdoor themed shelter. I got my atoms refunded real quick.

The reason it bulldozez out the front and back of the house like that is likely so you can fence it off and have front and back gardens.

Id rather new scrap box shape skins than just paint skins. Id love a set of lockers like in the APC survival tent or the wodden boxes on the Gazebo survival tent. Since most people put the Stash, Scrap, and Ammo boxes together it would be nice if they actually "fit" together.
The carport not having a ramp is dumb.
Bethesda appear to have the same problem with ramps for their prefab as they do with vehicles.
sanctuary had like 8 of those houses only having 1 is so weird. they themed the shelter to look pre war so building a bunch of scrappy wasteland stuff looks weird esp with the lighting. i dont get it
apparently we're supposed to buy a prefab bundle so we can build our own houses lmao
It’s giving Truman Show
The lighting looks like it was handled by the intern.
The living room white walls are so bright that I hung 3 Cassidy’s Favorite Paintings on the large wall just to tone it down.
I was also disappointed that the build area wasn’t as large as I expected.
The lighting is like a perma-nuc flash.
Habe different colors as well
I believe objects built in outside shelters don't cast shadows, that's why it looks to flat compared to the main world
the developers should have made a fence out of Sanctuary trimmed bushes instead of a concrete fence, if players want a heavy fence, they'll make it themselves.
and if they did make a concrete fence, they could have just put up a huge static gate at the entrance instead of a weird buffer zone and an empty road.
the lighting was most likely copied from the desert shelter, that's why it's so weird
i also don't like that the preview of the set shows a new car and sets of plants that aren't included.
not the first time the preview photos have images of items that are not in the shop/bundle
The lighting looks bad because FO76 needs a graphic update.
LOLZ I thought you said Trap house… 👀 also accurate.
I'm a bit confused about why the Vault-Tec-themed tent didn't use the... You know... Vault-skinned usables like scrapbox, bed, and weapons workbench. It's not like you could use them in your camp.
Tell us how you really feel about the lighting.
It’s a shame that weather machines don’t work in shelters
Its 13 bucks in USD, which is alot more reasonable. Exchange Rates are crazy. I would never have spent 23 bucks on Fo1st
The green trees in that shelter on the outside look like PS1 graphics
They need to sort the lighting out in shelters. I am using the summer camp and the lighting is atrocious. Flickering and death rays. Really detracts from the building experience. I am making a museum for scoreboard items. Playing on Xbox S.
I agree, happens with other similar shelters, the lighting is artificial lighting for interiors. Shadows don't work so well, light isn't defused. Only one interior shadow that mates every shadow.
Becomes very noticeable once you put interiors in there. Y'know, like the house you are given with the bundle.
absolutely love mr church, love your honesty ,thank you as always 😉
thank you!!
It's like eerily bright
They do have the building kit coming eventually, maybe the interior doors could come with that

I acgually like how far out it bulldozes. Helps get that clean cut look. I wish they would just add a bulldozed zone that we could place tho.

Definitely going to pass on the bundle. Sometimes I think Bethesda has a consistency problem. It’s as if all the older folks quit or were laid off and then a new batch of folks have to figure everything out again 😂
I actually like that the house bulldozes the front and back terrain, it'll get rid of any nearby trees blocking the view from the windows
I’m just happy to have something to spend my money on besides booze and drugs. 😂
This video got me trying crack next.
Bundle is cool I did refund though the house is just too big.. it fits in the shelter but out in the world it’s massive the shelter is cool but I don’t like how it spawns at the end of the town and not at the round about. Since I refunded I got to keep the items placed so I still have the ammo box and scrap box
It's really got that tranquility lane feel to it.
Continuing to be agog at pay walling paid content. I can't buy the house because I didn't buy a subscription? Wild stuff.
It's the direction of travel the game is moving in. It's why the new scoreboard design is the way it is.
And we can definitely expect it to get worse.
it's pretty crazy. It's like paying to enter a store 🤣
I get more Tranquility Lane vibes than Sanctuary.
The invisible Barriers PISS ME Off its just Flat Lazy on the Devs Part - Why????? Just use the Wall as the "Barrier"
Best guess? To keep you from trying to hop out with a built staircase. It's still stupid, they could put their invisible barrier at the wall's edge and let you build a proper suburban settlement.

Most important question i can think to ask. Can u place anything on top of the scrap box. Merging wall clocks into the existing scrap box isnt fun and do to Tod hating us blueprinting it doesn't work so every base i make has a 3hr stash box build to start it.
Why is the ammo stash giving me Borderlands vibes? Like the flatness of the paint, the “wear” marks… it feels almost uncanny valley - like it’s trying to be ammo storage but is for sure a mimic.
