- This technique will show you how to create beautiful flower appliques that can be used to accent all sorts of projects! These heat-cut flowers are no-fray and very easy to make in large quantities quickly.

Tools:
- Scissors
- Smooth glass cutting board
- Heat knife
- Non-slip carpet mesh
- Beading needle
- Skewer stick, knitting needle (or any hard, straight object to hold things together)
Materials:
- Wide acetate florist ribbon
- Polyester/acrylic/acetate fabrics
- Organza material (or other materials that are able to be heat cut)
- Thread
- Beads
- Printed flower templates

If the material you're cutting is see through, it might be easier if you put your template under the glass surface. That way you won't need to cut out the template and you won't need to hold the template in place :)

Where can I get the heat knife????
Can just cut the fabric flowers using just a knife instead of heat knife?
The heat knife is hot and thus cuts and seals the edge of the fabric as it goes. A normal knife wouldn't work unless it was very hot and stayed consistently hot during the cutting process.

Where did you buy your heat knife?
I bought a mini iron for use in making doll clothes at JoAnn Fabric years ago and it came with a variety of attachments including the hot knife. I never knew what it was for until now.
