  • This is how I set my pedals for Big 4 drumming.
My settings are for this very specific style and I would not use these settings for other styles of music.
Think of a lifted truck designed for off roading. Big tires, lifted suspension, etc. its designed for a very specific purpose.
Technically, You could also use that lifted truck to commute on a highway to/from work, but not the best choice of vehicle.
    same thing here.
have fun with it and as always keep it heavy!

Had the beater bashing on my shins and feet , I used to walk off stage beading on my shins because the beater would catch them when I played faster double bass 220 BPM and over .

Thanks Jon I have a tama Iron cobra hp 900 since 15 years ago, and I use the tension not like you, but I´ll try it like you. could be very good for more strong to attack the bass drum XD

I use the old danmar wooden beaters too , I used to use iron cobras then I discovered the Tama 910 speed cobra 910 , the only thing I changed was the beaters , I'm interested to know if you have tried them , they make fast double bass a lot easier ( well for me they do ) .

Exactly how I set my pedals. Old school. These kids now with their triggers built into their crazy light pedals. No power. This is how you play double kick with power. John you kill brother. Last of a generation of straight up power house metal drummers. I know what you mean

Check out James Stewart (vader, decapitated, etc) same pedals, similar set up with the beater angle, plus the heavier springs, dude can play well above 220 on them. But he does say he breaks springs all the time.

Hey Jon, do the springs fatigue and break prematurely? Is that why you change them out every 2 shows?

That would likely be the case and really just to avoid them breaking in the middle of a show
