Best static grass video ever. I noticed you use wood glue - not a lot of people know about that. I use it with anything remotely resembling wood - including cardboard and cork. Do you think it works better for these grass bases than white pva as well?
Thanks! Yeah I switched to the wood glue for anything dealing with basing since it is so strong. However it does dry yellow, so anything that will be visible after drying, I use pva for.
I read one other person’s comment that is my question as well. What can you do to upgrade a desert looking area? Also for upgrading scenery for 10 mm scale?
I should make a desert foliage video. What I use is some 4 and 6mm winter or dead grass colored static grass. I also use woodland scenics earth blend flock over rough ground to simulate small try weeds and plants.
Yeah these are awesome. Quick question, where'd you get the coloured flocks from? I'm specifically after yellow & purple for some spring flowers and heather. Cheers!
Here is the one I use: www.ebay.com/itm/GJ0505CN-Mini-Flocking-Static-Grass-Applicator-SCENIC-MODELLING-NEW/392037651320?hash=item5b4743d378:g:WxoAAOSwb5JbIelI:rk:2:pf:0 Use rubber gloves when using...I have been shocked countless times.
I use the dry grass tufts with brown or yellow flocks to give an illusion of dry brush. You can also take the 6mm flock and cover it in spray adhesive and then add 2mm flock on top to look like thorns.
Hi! Thanks for the inspiration! Related question: Could you use the shavings of the Faux Fur mat to do tufts like that? I've been procrastinating on making the mat because I'd rather not waste all that excess fur. Any suggestion on what to do with the excess?
Yep, you can make some pretty awesome tufts with it. If you look at my last hobby log video the grass I have around my lion is made from faux fur. I paint it, trim it, and then apply it to the base with some super glue. I think it looks rather good...just don't use pva/wood glue.
Sorry, I think I told you the wrong stuff on the video...it is their super leaf material. I like the spring color but they have a variety of different shades of green. www.sceneryexpress.com/SPRING-GREEN-SUPERLEAF-16-OZ-SHAKER/productinfo/653-6122/

I got it from scenic express. They can be expensive but they often have pretty decent sales.
Red Beard Baron sweet, cheers pal 👍🏼
This is a very helpful tutorial. Thanks for sharing another great Red Beard Baron video.
Thanks for taking the time, John!
first comment! Great work!
Thanks for watching!
Do you have a link to the applicator you bought?

I was going to ask the same thing lol
Very impressive, any suggestions for making desert scenes look more interesting, all the best, Garry

Useful, but you seem to have bought the grass product in the most expensive packages!

Looking good sir 👍
Effective and very impressive!
Appreciate it!
Hi, what are the leaves reference you use from Scenic, I'm working in a 15mm jungle bases for an Aztec army and they are perfect to use.
