For new heroes - They're definitely far apart in terms of releases so i'd like to find something with more frequency - but yes i'd love to do more things like this in the future in general.

Zarya melee, Genji deflect, Genji double jump, Cass combat roll, and Moira's locomotion animations are all pretty solid examples of the animation team favoring readability over consistency between the first and third person animations
Yeah, genji double jump he backflip. Something you probably dont want in first person when you have to watch where you stand
6:37 Genji's deflect comes to mind, completely different in third person, presumably so the enemy team can see it clearly

@@chrisperry4014 exactly. I’d wanna see how they came to the underground idea, what old abilities did they have and see the story to their animation
@@roccomstar1550 right. It’s unfortunate and quite telling how the devs have favoritism and were seemingly rather performative when it came to the release of Venture. I could tell by the scripted press release and tone that the devs were so nervous about the release and not really that passionate about Venture’s introduction, and it really shows when things like skins are released for certain heroes and not others despite apparently being in development for longer.
This could mean two things: either the devs decided to put out something that was more sensational like a non-binary person as a playable character BEFORE their intended release of Juno, which was actually a passion project by the devs with more backstory development process and unique design.
OR
They simply didn’t have as much passion and love for that character as they did for a traditionally more attractive and straight character that’s from space, and has cool, purple hair.
I could be completely wrong , but this is, in my opinion, very obvious.
@@chrisperry4014 I think, very simply, the team likes Juno more than they like Venture. Not to say that they don't like Venture at all bc they did seem very excited for them to debut but overall I think the cutesy design of Juno just outperforms Venture in popularity.

For different perspective animations genji double jumping backwards he does a flip but you don't realize it as the gengi.
Illari's outburst is another one. She does multiple spins in third person.

The art department knocked it out of the park with her design and it's really interesting too see how it all came together!
I love videos like this! It’s awesome getting to see how everything is animated and then implemented into the game. I hope we can get more videos like this from the Hero Design Teams. I think it adds to the aesthetic and overall narrative Game Designers are trying to create when releasing new characters or a DLC for example. Juno is especially interesting because of how floaty she feels, every bob and sway she does in game is it’s own separate animation. It’s a great way to show those who aren’t familiar with graphic or game design and the animation process, how things are done. It goes to show how much work they really put in for Juno’s design. She truly feels like a unique character. From an animation perspective she is perfectly designed and I’ll keep saying it; even down to her kit, she is beautifully animated!
As a game development graduate i love seeing stuff like this! It shows the work and thought that goes into this stuff
It's always so cool seeing how much passion, depth, and polish can be used when creating the little intricacies in design.
I wish they would show how they come up with the full hero design/lore process with the full dev team. It would be super cool!
I'm pretty sure Juno's design originates from really old concept art; I wonder if the same people are even still there

Videos like this really show why Blizzard is always cooking with the artwork. Even if the other departments are dropping the ball hard the artists are so passionate about it that the art always carries.
I wish they released it on the official channel for every hero. Even with voice-over, we only got it randomly for Illiari and Rammatra iirc.
I hope they make more of these!
If only we could find some people in the suit departments of Blizzard who could show equal passion and love as their animation and art teams do for character creation.

Ram’s block has his arms in an “X” that covers his face in 3rd person, while they are parallel across the top and bottom of your screen in 1st person.
Honestly wish there were more of those!! And tbh I think the one thing carrying overwatch heavy is the character design and artists, like fr if the game had worse design/characters it prolly woulda fell off by now.

Sometimes you can tell when animators or developers love working on a game. Then its just smacked around by poor choices from the higher ups

I feel like with all this about Juno, that it really just shows how they created Venture as the token they/them hero. They treat them like... dirt.

To be honest, venture seems like an OC character that someone created just to self-insert themselves into overwatch. It just doesn't seem to fit into the overwatch world let alone fit with other overwatch characters and appearances. It's just so weird.
To be fair. We’ve known about the people living on mars for ages because of lijaing. Venture isn’t part of any sort of faction we know about. They kinda just came out of nowhere.

Overwatch 2 kinda pushed the button with magic with Kiriko's introduction. The Shimadas had Dragons, but we knew nothing about them, then we learn that Kiriko literally has a ghostly pet fox.
Illari's flight (and transformation during her Ultimate) may literally be a form of magic. Her eyes and hair become incandescent and she literally seems to pull the energy out of the air to load it into her gun.

If only there was this much “love” and passion for the one and only non-binary person so it didn’t just feel like just another box being ticked. I’m honestly so over OW being this surface-level diversity project which barely touches on each individual’s nationality as an entire personality trait. Why try and be inclusive if you aren’t going to actually make it, you know, with passion.
No hate to Kyle, he’s cool and did a wonderful job animating Juno, it’s just really disappointing and telling about the direction of the studio. It’s almost like not one person on the team had the passion nor interest or time to do a similar video for Venture’s arguably equally unique move-set, insane drill/weapon, and incredible sound design.
Amazing, I have never seen another dev team be able to animate like Blizzard. Blizzard is a great company with more than fair prices for whales in the shop.
Blizzard is very good at fan animations but I think they can improve, they should look for the Juno Animation Rule 34 rulebook for the official stuff
