A.J. stated several times he was going to take a swing at him, John saw him coming, was standing up and didn’t have his back turned or anything and AJ reached out, and tried to touch John’s jaw. Unprofessional, and inappropriate for a business? Yes. Probably a childish thing to do? Sure, but a “sucker punch” it certainly was not. Gary the drama queen saying “it was scary”. Wow. It was barely a fight. I was not a fan of either John, or AJ Benza, and both of them loved to put on that tough guy act which was annoying in of itself aside from about a dozen other annoying attributes they both have. They should have let them run a fade right there in the office, and hoped there was a double knockout!

First of all John was making very good money on the Stern show especially for what he did when he left. John thought, and still thinks he is a legit star who should have been getting money like Stern and that was his problem. 2nd had John not left he would have been able to get close to the same money he got from Leno when they went to Sirius and that has been confirmed by several employees including Gary. You have to factor in that would have been just his base salary also. Artie said at that period of time in the show when they went to Sirius he was capable of 4x’ing his own salary with the show. Now I doubt John would have been capable of getting as much side money as Artie because he isn’t really a comedian or all that talented but John was already hustling and making decent side money doing comedy shows and appearances as it was so it wouldn’t have been an issue for him to at least 2x his base salary and probably do even more than that if he was grinding. The last reason I think staying would have been a better move is he would have been employed with Stern wayyyy longer than he was with Leno. Shit he may even still be there today making bank as long as he didn’t completely screw up. Stern doesn’t really get rid of people unless they are fucking up bad, and mostly fucking up in their personal lives (I.E. KC, and Artie). So I typed all that to say hell yea you are right! lol
Damn right they would. John was smart to not tell Howard til the deal was done. That is why Howard is so angry with John, he didn't have enough time to kill the deal.
