I think Peggy's underreaction is because, deep down, she knows Hank would never be unfaithful to her. Her anger about kissing that girl 20 years ago was due to it ruining her romantic story of her and Hank, because she was still angry when she found out Hank didn't kiss her intentionally. It's similar to Hank's anger at Peggy for not being a virgin before they married.

But in these episodes, he is dealing with stress due to sexual advancements and claims against him that are sexual, something we know he can't properly deal with or handle and is more likely to repress than to express with something like anger. still, I would have added just one more thing to explain why he succumbed.. maybe Dale just shoves a lit cigarette into his mouth and he inhales and now he's re-hooked.
Not to mention in other episodes his stress is vented by kicking his friends' asses or having good comebacks like the multiple times he does to bill, or tries to do on the others. (The "hank goes blind" episode comes to mind, when he goes after them with a bat after he regains his sight) but he can't beat up debbie or ms. Well to tell you the truth, that's not all that bad. Almost all adult animation that's not anime tends to be comedies. Meanwhile, children's animation has a wide range of genres besides comedy including action, drama, science fiction, educational, and even horror. Yes, adult animation can be any of those things too, but it's usually a co-genre with comedy. Rick & Morty and Futurama for instance are both sci-fi cartoons, but they're also comedies. Bojack Horseman is a drama, but also a comedy. Now obviously, there's nothing wrong with comedy, but cartoons that are meant to be taken seriously are a thing. Adult animation in countries besides Japan can try it for once.
"You may be his eyes and ears, but your butt belongs to me," is one of the greatest lines in the whole show. 🤣 Kathleen Turner's voice for the character was the cherry on top.
I love how the next episode after a two part murder mystery involving the main character going through a lot of stress is an episode about Bobby seeing Luanne naked.
Legally speaking in Texas you can walk down the street carrying a rifle and so long as your either pointing it straight up or down as well as having your hands away from the trigger you aren’t breaking any laws. You aren’t devoid of suspicion, but seeing as more than half of people living here are carrying it’d be really stupid to point it at anything/one.
@@Appalachianasshole41 it’s different, open carry only affects hand guns. Where as there are other rules involving rifles, before you try chopping someone down do a little research.
Peggy calling the Texas Rangers because she loves Walker is the absolute peak of her comedy. Sgt Mumford's "Who called the Texas Rangers?!" is one of the best offhand remarks by a minor character ever.
The Debbie Grund episode is yet another one of my favorite KOTH episodes! and one of my favorite scenes in this episode was definitely the part where Hank refused to be seduced by Ms. Liz it just shows how much of a loyal husband Hank really is, and the part at the end of the episode where it was revealed that Debbie accidentally shot herself always made me think that her death was most likely ruled as an "accidental suicide" at least that's my term for it anyway.
Peggy adding her name to the sugarfoots sign gets alot weirder when you find out about her massive feet and that whole episode with her foot fetish website
Lmao when Hank said put that old lady back on, maybe she can talk some sense into you, i started laughing out loud at the same time as shady, that was great
I think the reason Peggy is so chill with hank lying to her is she *knows* hank would never cheat on her, But also knows he is covering something up. I think it is In character for her to 1. believe hank is faithful. 2. think he also might have killed Debbie and wants to know for sure. Without incriminating him. I think this is where her loyalty to hank plays a role.
Thats true. I think the biggest reason for Peggys behavior in the difference between Hank hiding the details of the kiss with that random girl 20+ years ago, vs the Miss Liz situation is that. The Dinner situation was considered to be the story of how Hank and Peggy's relationship was solidified, telling the story of Hank asking for a Dinner Date with Peggy on Valentines day of which she spends the day cooking, only for him to not show up. Then the romantic gesture is that, he calls claiming he "Injured" his back and he apologizes and they flirt in their own way. So it was seen as a romantic story to Peggy. Then later the Truth is revealed that Hank had Mono from a random girl kissing Hank. It hurt Peggy because Hank hid the truth for over 20 years; and the story was seen as one of the contributing factors to their relationships success. Peggy and Hank had been dating for 6 months to that point, so Hank was still obligated to tell Peggy but he lied about the truth. Fact he lied twice. The First time was the original claim that he injured his back, then when Mono is revealed; he lied saying he got Mono from sharing a drink with someone on the Football team. The Debby and Miss Liz sitation is different since Hank was simply hiding the events that unfolded, from Peggy. While It does look suspicious for hank not to tell Peggy that two women tried to have sex with him. Peggy wasn't concerned with Hanks loyalty, as she was more concerned with the prospect of Hank being a killer. But Peggy didn't want to believe Hank had killed Debby; as Peggy wanted to be loyal and trusting to Hank.
Debbie: Nobody rejects Debbie Grund Hank: Well I just did. Legit one of my favorite scenes in King of the hill. I laugh so hard at that scene and I hate it because it's funny but not the funniest scene in the series. Yet it gets me every time.

Why Hank stuck around at Strickland Propane after this whole ordeal is beyond me. His boss, boss’ wife, and co-worker/boss’ side piece all tried to screw him over. Anyone else would have immediately quit after all was said and done. I guess this two parter ultimately demonstrates Hank’s deep loyalty to propane and propane accessories themselves.
That fuckin' Oscar Proud yell combined with that line about Tamaranean dresses had me rollin'. Never did I think I would see a King of the Hill, The Proud Family, Teen Titans, and Shady Doorags crossover that fast outside of a gorram UA-cam Poop.
What about that episode where the female police officer pulled Hank over multiple times to grope him, and even threatened to arrest him if he didnt reciprocate?
This was so incredibly entertaining. I was pleasantly surprised. It takes quite a bit of talent to make a discussion of an episode interesting even when there's no real novel information presented or in-depth analysis.
The dude that you thought was famous is a Texas Ranger. He's not famous, but the Texas Rangers are essentially like an elite lawforce installment, they did make a show based around them, though. It was called Walker Texas Ranger and starred Chuck Norris. That's why she says that.line about watching their show, and how she likes 'that Walker'.
Shady, I gotta admit that I come here for the King of the Hill episodes but I stay for your comedy/commentary. My favorites this episode were: 8:28 "Like a BOSS!!!" 14:38 "Hire acrobatic gerbils from Siberia to make sure that-" 18:10 "Are you sure a critical news broadcast is the best time to advertise your restaurant?" smash cut to Applebee's commercial.
I love both of these episodes, too. I genuinely did not see the 'killer' coming, and both episodes were funny and presented an honestly fun mystery with some fun character moments.
I'm guessing you've never been an addict in recovery. You can go decades clean and then just slip up one day and it usually is a snap decision like that "fuck it, I'll have one and then I'll stop, I've stopped before and I've learned self control, I'll be fine" And sometimes that is how it works out but usually a month or two later you're neck deep in your habit again. The fact that he dealt with stress before and didn't relapse means nothing. I quit drinking during one of the hardest years of my life, I faced down shit I never thought I could and I did it sober, my will was iron. What broke me was my sister following me around at a BBQ asking if I was really sure I didn't want a beer "because I know how much you love a drink" the thing that sets you off is usually fairly trivial in the grand scheme of life stuff.
To be fair, it is an old show. Not that many people just getting into King of the Hill now would be able to make that connection. At the time this episode aired it would be more likely.
@@SRFAA maybe but who's getting into koth now? That was a 90's show for a 90's audience. anyone else would have way too much trouble understanding everything that's going on...and would probably find it way too offensive to their modern sensibilities.

It's a really good episode exhibiting the influence Bobby's family has on him and is an excellent exhibition of character building... But the episode itself is gold regardless.
I only just now pieced together that, if Debby hadn't fucked it up, she was genuinely going to shoot Buck with his own gun *while hiding in a dumpster* That would have been the end of Strickland Propane, the loss of Hank's "father", *and* the business would have (permanently) become Peggy's and Hank's'. Like, holy shit, that could have changed the storyline *so fucking quickly* in hindsight
7:53 Personally I feel like that is an often under looked aspect. Debbie willing to wreck any marriage if it meant having it easy at work. Yeah it was kind of obvious Debbie was only after Buck for his money and Buck would roll over for any blonde woman who looks in her 20s. But I can always appreciate the calling to attention of that aspect . Personally I wouldn’t be surprised if Buck was only willing to protect Miz Liz only because if she went to jail before their divorce was nullified (if that is the proper term) he’d still be left penniless .
I doubt Buck was doing all that for money, for one thing they had stopped the divorce from happening in the end, so it was no longer relevant by the time the investigation was happening. Plus in the episode where Miss Liz finally divorces Buck, he ends up being severely depressed and getting severely drunk, so regardless of his affairs, he did sincerely care about her. As for Debbie, yeah she's clearly a prime example of a King of the Hill character who is evil, she doesn't care about the sanctity of marriages or relationships, she doesn't care about the families she might destroy with her infidelities with marred men, she's willing to blackmail just to get what she wants, and then the cherry on top is the fact that she was willing to commit murder in the end just because her primary lover (Buck) inevitably going to leave her, an attractive woman, to go back to his wife (who Debbie sees as a dried out has been). Let's just say her accidentally suicide was karma catching up to her.
You left out the part where buck says "Ah Hank, I believe you. I know you don't have sex" Also where peggy was mixing mayo and ketchup for BBQ sauce lmao

So then it makes sense that he goes to smoking to deal with the stress that he is trying to get away from and prevent being known about, even if being open about it would help him escape from it.
still, I would have added just one more thing to explain why he succumbed.. maybe Dale just shoves a lit cigarette into his mouth and he inhales and now he's re-hooked.
Lis, and he'd never attack buck, so basically his only resort is to smoke.
11:54 funny moment but if you don’t know about zippos, they’re reusable lighters that require the user to refill them with lighter fluid, the problem is the fuel occasionally evaporates prematurely weather used often or not, unlike a BIC or similar lighters that have a sealed fuel cell. Also, flicking the lid is fun

Fun detail: at the end of part 1, you can make out the nachos and soda Debbie bought from the Get-In-Get-Out, already foreshadowing the twist in part 2.
The way Peggy yells out Hank's name when he's not wanting to be seen by the police cracks me up, it's such an over the top loud and long yell lol

@@trevormcclever9158 Yeah the reference is what makes it funny
I remember when this show began to become more serious like it was yesterday. This episode made me question whether this was a comedy, or a drama.
Buckley Debbie even 1 off Trip and the one minor character single episode guy that had anger management issues that Hank met and agreed with but went crazy on the guys barking like a dog until his blood pressure went too high as he foamed out the mouth ...KOTH had a lot of impactful side character deaths and then much later in near the end of the show obviously Cotton during the last season which was a long time coming and a good way to finish the series....
To me this is when the show fully became a cartoon sitcom instead of an animated drama.

Legally speaking in Texas you can walk down the street carrying a rifle and so long as your either pointing it straight up or down as well as having your hands away from the trigger you aren’t breaking any laws. Hank trying to sneak past is one of the funniest scenes in the whole show. It's like a perfect chain reaction

Man Peggy‘s ego is as big as her feet.
HOO YEAH!!

Your innocence on the soup thing was easily the best running gag I've seen in a single youtube video for a while.

Why Hank stuck around at Strickland Propane after this whole ordeal is beyond me. His boss, boss’ wife, and co-worker/boss’ side piece all tried to screw him over. Anyone else would have immediately quit after all was said and done.

14:38 "Hire acrobatic gerbils from Siberia to make sure that-"
18:10 "Are you sure a critical news broadcast is the best time to advertise your restaurant?" smash cut to Applebee's commercial.
I love both of these episodes, too. I genuinely did not see the 'killer' coming, and both episodes were funny and presented an honestly fun mystery with some fun character moments.
I'm guessing you've never been an addict in recovery.
You can go decades clean and then just slip up one day and it usually is a snap decision like that "fuck it, I'll have one and then I'll stop, I've stopped before and I've learned self control, I'll be fine"
And sometimes that is how it works out but usually a month or two later you're neck deep in your habit again.
Why doesn't Hank lock his truck or his house? My grandma always had everything locked up right in the 90's.
Considering the fact that truck is one of his pride and joys, you'd think he WOULD lock it.

Personally I feel like that is an often under looked aspect.
