"Dr Boom Scheme" was 100% "Shuffle 1 bomb into your opponent's deck (upgrades each turn)" but they realised it was too powerful and changed it at the last day or so.
@@Micboss1000It would be broken today. If you keep it in your mulligan and you play it turn 7, shuffling 7 bombs into your opponents deck, that would 100% be broken even today
Dr. Boom's Scheme should've just been "Summon a Boom Bot" and upgrades each turn. Still 4 mana. Just nothing to do with armor, because clearly the art is meant to blowing something up.
@@ahpauloh just make it 2 mana and gain 2 armor upgrades 2 each turn, and it will be played. Super easy fix, if it's in your starting hand it will be a huge armor swing against control matchups but still be relevant against aggro. You'll still be sad if you draw it late but the payoff is decent enough to still run it in some decks
Booms scheme yes, poisoned blade is a contender as well, but I feel like these are just the cards that pulled the biggest reactions for being terrible in the reveal seasons. I feel like you have to consider where the power level was during their time in standard as well, shieldbearer was a decent card as a 5/5 for 6 that gained you 5 armor then, and thus isn't the worst card in history, but print a similar card now and it goes down as having never been good. Purify, shatter, and PI all saw some limited play, (silence priest was bad in the moment but the next silence support priest got made it a fairly valid card for a time. Shatter was an occasional include in Reno decks, though not a great one, and was at least a decent pick off of discover options. PI was used as a one of to pull Hadronox for the witching hour deck, or for WW Grizzly. They may be terrible but they, at one point, had unique niches to fill. The worst cards aren't the ones everyone thinks about, they're the ones everyone forgot, the ones that have no unique applications, the true pack filler like Magma Rager and Faceless Behemoth. The downgrades on cards that already exist like Tauren Warrior when compared to Amani Berserker, gaining a cost to gain taunt in the same set, or Wicked Skeleton, outclassed for any reasonable amount of destroyed minions by Volcanic drake, two years its senior. The cards that have a downside that's not possible to pass or not worth passing to an enemy and have no synergy like Felguard, a card that asked you to fall behind a mana crystal for +1/+1 on vanilla taunt stats at the time, and was considered a liability even in early arena where stats were everything. Cards that can't ever have a niche like Suspicious Peddler, because it's a worse version of its distant predecessor in wild and is far behind the power curve of standard.
Predatory Instincts was definitely an ok if not good card during its time. You could play it on turn 4 and curve nicely into a witch wood grizzly the following turn. Absolutely shut down aggro decks back then.
@@hadvar.the.viking either way this card probably doesn’t even make top 50 for worst cards. Sometimes people forget about the power creep in hearthstone. While it may be bad if played in wild as of now, it still had its time to shine.
Honestly, my personal idea for Booms Scheme was 'Gain 3 Armor, Deal that much damage randomly split across all enemies (Upgrades Each Turn, wherever this card is)' could work. Kind of similar to the old Boombots. On curve its a 6 armor 6 damage spell, on later turns you could combine it with a boardclear like brawl to send 10-12 damage face. The numbers could be tweaked to make it more balanced, but when I think Boom I think Armor AND Explosions, good for Control.
Not that it saves it from being bad, but a meme deck that could redeem Poisoned Blade is doing a deck with tons of cantrips, Auctionmaster Beardo, and Shadowcrafter Scabbs. Once you get his Hero power, you can use Beardo to repeat your hero power, which then makes your next card cost 2 less, which if it's a spell, refreshes your hero power through Beardo... and so on. It's definitely "Wal-mart Kingsbane", but it's definitely a wincon.
I think poisoned blade, shatter and purify would see play if they were 1 mana. Edit: predatory instincts would be decent at 2 mana I think, dr boom's scheme would need to be 0 mana or have it's effect reworked to be playable.
Tbh I remember purify actually being played in meta decks a few expansions after being released, in a deck that had multiple can’t attack cards (a 3 mana 5/6, a 4 mana 7/7)
I mean Dr booms schemes price is not issue it’s just that’s it’s to slow it would still be bad at 0 I think they could do something like “ *Dr booms scheme* ’ “ *4-Mana* ” “Gain *1* Armor. (Upgrades each turn and double the armor you gain every other turn)”
I agree that even at 0 mana it would be bad, I thought about the doubling aspect too but think it'd be too strong actually. It wouldn't take too long to get to so much armor that your opponent just couldn't win.
@@ahpauloh It probably be really broken in standard since standard is so slow, but in wild i think it would be fine since you have to get to turn 4 and have a dead card in your hand a couple of turns
I used to play Dr Boom's scheme in Mech'athun warrior because it just didn't matter that it was bad when you drew it. The game regularly went dozens of turns as i stalled out a controlling meta and probably averaged like 10 armor from the scheme. When it was a dead draw it didn't matter because i always had a full hand.
Dr Booms scheme should become like the dr boom hero. Every turn it upgrades with a random effect out of a short list. Gain some armor, shuffle a bomb, etc etc
That's a cool idea! Kind of reminds me of Chromatic Necrotic Explosion, could be "gain 1 armor, shuffle 1 bomb into the opponents deck, and summon 1 boom bot (randomly upgrades each turn)".
Maybe change Dr Boom's Scheme to start at 4 and gain +2 each turn, and maybe even reduce the cost to like 2? Sounds like still meh, but a much better haha.
Yeah I was thinking 3 mana gain 3 armour and increases by 3 armour each turn, but to be better than mediocre I think a card needs to impact more than just your life total, or be really cheap/ mana efficient
Yeah I think there'd have to be some kind of cap, just like some other people have suggested the armor doubling every turn and I think it's a good idea but could hit 1k+ armor pretty easily.
How to buff Weapon should get durability and not attack, so it would be like a demon hunter hero power but it can stack infinitely on weapon attacks, and it's an infinite weapon Purify should silence any minions Boom's stuff should trigger twice or thrice per turn
purify priest was a meta deck at least for a short while and predatory instincts saw tier 2 ish play during one of hearthstone's pocket metas. hard to call them top 5 worst cards ever, can put any of the unplayable 6-10 cost minions that never saw play like moorabi
I feel like Moorabi could have also been on this list, but if not, he should be in the top 10. Too expensive, poorly statted, bad effect, and shaman just has so many better things to do.
I actually considered that, but I think it would actually be too strong lol. After just 5 turns it'd be 32 armor already and just get stronger and stronger from there, giving you 1k armor after 10 turns lol, basically linecracker druid in one card.
I'm also surprised they haven't really done any weapons with poisonous, at least that I can remember? I think there's only the spell that gives each player a 2/2 poisonous weapon.
