    Liked and subscribed simply because this wasn’t just a simple cookie cutter video. Explained why they were your choices vs what most people do is awesome. Also mentioned the idea of using a cover for a budget option to a wheel cover.

    Great video. I will say, while I absolutely love the speed of the Vittoria Corsa Speed Plus Tires, they popped on my second race. I haven’t noticed any speed difference (or enough to notice that is) using GP5000s or the new GP5000 S TLs. What I have noticed is those paired with Tubilitos kept me rolling in Ironmans while so many ppl sadly were fixing flats on the side of the road.

    You are bang on. Funny that just sourced by Zipp Vuka Aero cockpit, me wifey was nice enough to wrap it for my Christmas present, got Revolver Ergo Mantis arm rests, switched over to a sram 1X aero chain ring and running an aero jacket on my rear wheel, upgrading to some GP 5000 tubeless before the season, and I scored a paraffin based oil from work to run on my red flat top chain. So I guess you could say I agree with your upgrades even if my wallet does not. Thanks buddy, by the way in already committed with my little bitty 48 tooth 1X chain but what calculator are you using for the chain line thing. I needed a smaller front so I could get the gearing in the back cause I’m looking at a hilly 70.3 and when I step up a hillier full distance race.

    • @TriathlonDan
      @TriathlonDan  3 роки тому +1

      Haha you can’t put a price on speed ;). www.bikecalc.com/gear_ratios was the website, I just use the ‘speed at cadence’ table :). I’ll be going back to a 2x chainset for hilly events for sure

    • @stevendaddyrue8026
      @stevendaddyrue8026 3 роки тому +1

      @@TriathlonDan thanks for sending that. I’m on AXS so I have a 48/33 currently and Ican run a 10/36 with my set up so that gives me gearing like a 36/28 standard setting, a few more gaps in the upper middle range of the cogs. But such is life and I feel I could hit any hill I want to on a Tri bike with that gearing. Happy holidays

    • @stevendaddyrue8026
      @stevendaddyrue8026 3 роки тому

      Looked at the calculator and that is cool can’t wait to put my bike together and check how accurate it is in the real world for my legs. If it is I have thingsbang on, right in the middle of the block rolling @ 22/27 MPH between 80 and 90 cadence on the flat. Your the man I have a TT buddy who swears 7 watts for a food chain line. That’s seriously like doubling by FTP 😂! Their are huge gains to be made here. Your right can’t put a price on “free speed”. Dialing the training and spending time ridding in TT I hope to take 30 minutes of last years 1/2 Ironman split on the same coarse. So you know I’m willing to spend $’s for aero watts.

    I am looking at adding wattshop adjustable risers, from what’s I hear you are a big fan of them correct, and are this their clamps or something different and either way how do you like them ?

    • @TriathlonDan
      @TriathlonDan  3 роки тому

      Yes they seem good, not cheap but I’m happy that they work well. I have the wattshop clamps too yes 👍

    • @stevendaddyrue8026
      @stevendaddyrue8026 3 роки тому

      @@TriathlonDan i have already decided to order them, I bought the Zipp Vuka aero cockpit one because my old cockpit had the aero bar clamps on the base barn so I couldn’t raise them up and two because I wanted to hide my blip box in the nose cone. Any way I got a great deal on it on eBay but it’s the pre 19 model so I can’t tilt the bars up. But the good new is the watt shop clamps also let me bring my pole in closer, the one thing I didn’t like about the Zipp cockpit. So their are two aero gains in one. I’m like a Tri Dan clone, before your 8 upgrades came out, I went 1X, wont ever go back, sorry bad pun, have the revolver ergo mantis cups, now I getting the watt risers, might order the wax from NGR, and if they do 12 speed ceramic bearings get a set of them as well, I currently have the GP 4000’s going to either change over to 5000 and go tubeless or get some latex tubes and my bike came with a disc wheel cover. So I guess you could say I agree with your 8 upgrades. Yes im a bike nerd and fiddler as well but I think most of us are

      Eagle eyes! I have a 58mm front too but got the trispoke from Walkerbros a few weeks ago to try something new :)

    There is one Super Important tip that will give you the most watt savings of all.... "ROTATIONAL WHEEL BALANCE". Tri bikes like yours have massive aerodynamic wheels, and if you don't balance them they not only suck up massive amounts of watts, but also make your bike handle like nervous Poo Poo at high speeds. A perfectly balanced set of aerodynamic wheels are nothing less than amazing! WHY? Unbalanced wheels create what is called interrupted rotational inertia, thus greatly slowing you down. While a perfectly balanced set of aerodynamic wheels create smooth flowing inertia. When you combine good aerodynamics with perfect rotational wheel balance, you end up with the fastest set of aerodynamic wheels on the course. Simple as that! Also it allows the full measure of watt saving gadgets to deliver their maximum watt saving performance. So next time think about this....Basically 50% of your bike is stationary/static, like your frame, fork, H-bars, and saddle arrangement. While the other 50% spins at a high rate of speed, SO DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO ROTATIONALLY BALANCE THAT 50%?! Sincerely Dan Sotelo onZa

    1x chainring is a pure marketing for a TT bike. Are people really struggling with changing gears? Only makes sense if you ride pure flat courses and have the power to hold a good chainline. i.e. not suitable for most people. A 1x means less time with a good chainline, not more. Nice video though ;)

    • @TriathlonDan
      @TriathlonDan  3 роки тому

      Haha beeeeeffff! I suppose I was more thinking of flat TT’s, agree for lumpy triathlons but having a big chainring is still an advantage in transition ;)

    • @gabedellar588
      @gabedellar588 3 роки тому +1

      1x is definitely worth it even at slower speeds, even if it's just a 54T 1x ring, 90rpm is 24mph half way up the casette so worth it, plus the advantage of no front mech is a watt or 2 putting chain line aside

    • @jameseastwood402
      @jameseastwood402 3 роки тому +1

      @@gabedellar588 but you can have a 54 without it being 1x? I understand how chainline works, but 1x doesn't change chainline - chainring size does. The removal of a FD has a very minor (practically 0) aero benefit, and a chain catcher would still be sensible anyway.
      As soon as you start to use the higher end of the cassette, any savings disappear as the chainline then is horrible.
